My handwriting has gone to shit

Mine was always pretty bad, but still mostly legible. I wouldn't say it got any worse since I started mainly typing, but it is definitely awkward for me to do.

Mine is relatively nice, oddly enough, but HOLY HELL @ the amount of typos and misplaced letters. You'd think I'm just barely literate going by my handwriting.

THIS!
I can't properly recognize the shape of the word in my handwriting and can't see if it is right or wrong.

Handwriting wise my cursive is and has always been very small, if I start big it just shrinks back to normal after one line so I usually write in capital letters when it needs to be legible by other people. It's always been sloppy as in I forget letters and my muscle memory always forgets to move half way up for letters like n and e making them h and l.

I actively write enough that my handwriting is basically the same as it has been since high school and college. It's not great or anything, but it's not horrible.

I type far more than I write, but I write something nearly every day in some form or another.

I write out a lot of To-Do-Lists, mainly...............

My handwriting has always been awful. I blame it on the fact that I draw far more than I write. Don't know if that makes sense.

Mine used to be amazing in high school, people always said it was "girly" but I think it was beautiful. *o*

But ever since I got to university and have had to scribble notes down as fast and legibly as I can, my writing now looks like a poor attempt at cursive writing. :/

I write everything in block capitals for some reason, I guess it looks neater than my other scrawls.

My hand also hurts if I have to take notes for anything over 5 minutes.

Always got Ds and Fs on writing assignments because of my bad handwriting in 1st grade (thanks for teaching right-handed methods to a left handed student, teach!) It hasn't improved much in my older years since I only handwrite to jot notes (handy in college to keep lazy assholes from bumming notes off you) or fill out envelopes. I mainly type out anything that requires eloquence or feedback

Mines always been shit, so I can rest easy knowing that I can go eons without writing and maintain my level of penmanship.

It says:
Hello GAF,

This is a sample of my quick handwriting, written w/ a Pilot Razor pen. I can't remember the last time I wrote cursive.

Probably a pretty bad pen for starters.

Speaking of lefties, if you are one, do you constantly smear pen on your skin from the side of your pinkie down?

I knew a kid in high school who was a lefty and had this constantly. Seemed like a pain in the ass and pretty much unavoidable.

Rollerball pens are a lefties worst enemy. Same with liquid paper.

I was going to write something in cursive writing one day . . . and then I realized that I didn't even remember how to write half the letters.

This is about right for me as well. I had to sign someone else's signature but they said to not try and forge it.. just sign their name and initial next to it. I honestly struggled to remember a few of the letters.

They what teach us around grade 4 or so to do handwriting and then never go back to it

I think it's a bit tougher for our generation since that was the time when computers were getting into more homes and schools were able to afford more computers for students. So since we have new technology, we must only use that!

Are you two kidding me right? This is great handwriting.

My handwriting is pretty good because i hand write notes for my classes, it's only illegible because half of it is in french and half in english. No one borrows my notes anymore.

My mum's handwriting is awful, teachers used to call me up to ask what she wrote in notes.

Aww, thanks. It's not so much that it's crap but rather, you can tell when I start getting lazy in my writing.

I can write in anything but I prefer pens/mechanical pencils at .5 or lower when writing. I feel like the bolder the tip, the more cartoony my handwriting looks to me.

I had great handwriting in school, but after years and years of being away and doing most of my work and daily life using computers my writing did go degrade in quality. However, I've taken to writing a lot more of my work as a draft and then doing a final computer draft so my handwriting has improved back to comfortable levels.

Now, I can't write cursive for shit though. I used to be really good at it, but it is so bad now it is laughable which quickly turns to anger. A friend of mine and former boss had incredibly beautiful cursive though. It made me want to get back into it, but that lasted all one word.

I think my writing looks neat as I'm writing it, but when I finish and look at it as a whole it's a mess.

I'll post a sample later. I want to know what you guys think.

A doctor's handwriting is the worst. It is literally the definition of chicken scratch. I thought I was used to reading prescriptions has a corpsman in the Navy but I got my butt kicked when I became a nurse.

Yea get pissed because I'm calling for a clarification, stop writing like shit and problem solved.

My handwriting has always been awful. I distinctly remember going to a bank with my mom when I was in eighth grade to get cashier checks for a cross-country field trip. The teller took one look at my handwriting and said to me, "You're going to be a doctor, right?"

Lol.

My handwriting is ATROCIOUS. I have tried to improve it but just can't, it's always bugged me.

My handwriting is legible but it looks so childish, unrefined. If I'm writing something by hand I try to take my time that way it looks a bit more mature. Hate having to write something on the spot because then it looks terrible. I should practice writing more, keyboards have destroyed me.

As a dysgraphic, the examples of 'bad' handwriting in this thread make me a little self concious.

I have had to write tests with a writing proxy before, feeding answers to another person to write down in the white space provided because I simply can't. Not well enough for that teacher, at least. That guy was a twat, in retrospect.

My handwriting has gotten progressively worse over the years to the point it's practically illegible. Part of the problem is that computers started really taking off around the same time I stopped needing to write things for school on a daily basis. The other part is that even when I wrote well I wrote incredibly fast and lack of repetition + speed is not a good combination. Thankfully the only writing I have to do these days are numbers for work or the occasional list/note which I try to slow down enough to make readable.

I honestly hand write something once a year, if even that. I don't write checks, I work at a computer, communicate through a computer, and I just put a line as my signature when I need to sign something..

A while back I was looking through some of my college notes.... I couldn't even make out what I had written on some of the pages

There was a time I'd thought my handwriting had gone to shit.

Then I applied to college, and quickly wrote a short essay on paper.

One of the reviewers said they thought I had impressive handwriting.

So, ya. It depends on who is reading it.

Always had shit handwriting. I remember in elementary school I was top of my class. The only thing was my English teacher especially in 3rd grade was the teacher we all think of when you imagine the mean teacher from hell and she constantly bitched to me and my mom about my handwriting. LOL

my handwriting has gone to shit and i'm proud of it. when i was young everyone insisted that penmanship was important, but who's laughing now!?!?
