Well, I felt a bit cheated seeing there was a new model out but I feel like I'll enjoy having the OLED instead. It is impossible for something to look bad on the OLED. The quality and colors on the OLED Vita are the best I've seen.

It's like 30 vs 60fps; some people will notice it more than others.

And just like 60fps vs 30fps the people who are used to the superior one notices it the most. So if you never got used to the Vita's OLED then you won't have a problem.

I'm still interested in the new model, since it's lighter than current one. If IPS LCD can keep up with what I currently have then I'm more than grad to move on to the next model.

I don't think the switch to LCD is necessarily bad, it depends on the quality of the LCD.

If you have used a retina iPad or some of the latest smart-phones, you know there are very high quality LCD screens out there.

Vita OLED panels will not last as long as an LCD panel, and the blotching on dark black scenes is also an issue (but only noticeable in a very dark room).

OLED is better for response time/input lag though and of course black levels.

Still, LCD screens can look very good and it is silly to pretend like LCD automatically means washed out budget TN panel from 5 years ago.

Of course, if Sony went with a cheap panel, then they really made a mistake IMO.

Yes, I agree, OLED has a higher image quality. However, what about the risk of burn-in? With an LCD you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Because it's cheaper, thinner, lighter, has improved Start/Select buttons, bigger rear grips, better battery life, standard MicroUSB connector, an extra 1GB of memory for game storage.

All significant improvements - the only technical 'downgrade' is OLED to LCD, but whether that has any real-world downsides remains to be seen. (Personally I'm interested because I find the OLED too bright at night, and I'm expecting the LCD to go much dimmer).

Yeah, this is an upgrade from the original, but some people might only call the Vita-2000 "NOLED" Vita.

Again, if OLED was popular among electronic appliance vendors then it should have evolved, to the point that it would be as cost effective and space effective as LCD retaining superb color presentation. However it didn't happen

Based on the PSP's history, they'll stop making 1000 model Vitas, but retailers will still sell them alongside the 2000 until their stock is gone.

First Vita is a classy bit of kit. The new one will be lighter but will definitely feel cheaper. That is how Sony does it. Keep the 1000. Higher quality screen, better build, likely.

uh, how are you going to play Vita games at those angles? If anything wont have any problems with washed out LCD due to angle, it is game console. You are going to be holding it in your hands and looking at it directly in any case or else you wont be able to control it properly.

i would like them to use same kind of display just for fun when people complain about washed out screen at some angle that nobody will ever be able to use it anyway.

I've been banging the drum for LCD in this thread but you just inadvertantly said something that has changed my mind somewhat. So, my girlfriend has an Xperia Arc, with some of the most horrible viewing angles I've seen on a decent smartphone. Here's the problem with your comment: the Vita has a gyroscope, and many games require that you DO NOT hold it directly facing you! This could be a huge issue if they choose a poor LCD panel...
