Watch Dogs looks like it'll be a generic open world game with an annoying gimmick (Pointing at stuff with your phone.). It'd be awesome if it's not, though, cause I love open world games. I think, at best, it will play like a much smaller version of GTA V, with far less variety and mechanics.

Yup including the fact that the gimmick your using makes you overpowered. Police chasing me while I drive start a accident by turning the stoplights red. Bridge is closed oh wait let me open it again. Other than the graphics there's nothing about that game that makes it next-gen same running and take-down animations from Assassin's Creed, slow-mo shooting mechanics.

You should be able to run at your normal pace by just holding down a button, but you should be able to sprint if you spam x. RDR way is best IMO.

I think that would work fine.

No button press: walking
Button held: normal running (no/low energy expended)
Button tapped: full sprint (uses energy/character gets tired after a while)

So exactly like GTA IV and RDR.

Hard to reduce a game to "generic/gimmicky" before its even fully developed / released..
But the way I look at it is that Rockstar are the real wave makers with GTA. What they do in this next game will set the bar for open world games to come.
That's why it's more exciting to me.

I don't mind hold a button to sprint... but I really hate having to hold a button to jog.

I get pretty instantly annoyed with any game that makes me do that. Walk/jog should both be on the analog. Sprint on a button. Otherwise it's just needlessly cumbersome.

Because they know they have to change consumer perception about the GTA brand.

Their Michael, Trevor, and Franklin trailers were concerted efforts at marketing and appealing to different demographics.

This trailer will be the next logical step.

Of course you can't expect something as polished, as that was the ONLY focus they had with MP3, but since RDR was already much better than GTAIV on that respect, it's not too far fetched to expect something close.
