Its not a technical showpiece or anything but everything looks fine in motion. Gameplay wise it might be the best 3D Sonic I've seen yet.

This is going have to come with a motion sickness warning I bet. The speed at which it's running and that the camera can change at any moment is going to be a problem for some I think.

I really want to know if the grass moves when standing still.

Woah! First Sonic game im genuinely interested in forever. Looks simple and gameplay focused like the original.
New mario, new Sonic (and Rayman) in 2013. Nintendo is gonna be publishing A LOT of titles this fall. And the bombs haven't even dropped. Hope this gets a good marketing push. Might be good for wii u's situation in the market.

Patiently waiting for high quality render of the Green Guardian because damn she's cute.

But seriously, despite people voicing disappointment that the Generations game play is gone, I couldn't be happier that they ditched the constant boost game play. It was so uninspiring and provided so little incentive to do anything but speedrun the games with twitch reactions. You get the mentality of wanting to speed run the games to a fault and it tears the enjoyment down of just experiencing what's there. That's why I loved Colors so much cause it didn't condone it.

This seems to do to Sonic what 3D Land did to Mario and might just become one of the more faithful 3D Sonic translations. The game play here looks incredibly unique and I hope the level design delivers. I can't wait for direct game play footage so it isn't just obscured by camera angles, it looks lively as fuck.

For a new console that's suposedly better but has proved nothing in 6 months? Yes.

Not every game needs that development budget. And to think every game needs to be a technical showcase is just beyond me.

Also those technical showcases will be at E3. Namely Mario 3D and (hopefully) Retros game. Also Smash. We're a mere 2 weeks away...

Sega does what Nintendo.

Seriously though, it looks incredible. After the incredible Sonic Generations, I was afraid of going back to a game with just Modern Sonic gameplay, but they didn't just settle for that.

Yea pretty much everybody describe it as Sonic Galaxy.

Don't mind this at all. Looks pretty and fun. Will get it

If that's
close enough to
gameplay I'll be very happy. Most of all, this game looks FUN, interested in the 3DS version too.

It isn't actually worse, it just utilizes much simple assets which stems from the artstyle rather than from lack of effort. What, Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't look realistic enough? Do I need to post screenshots from Sonic CD?
Generations has a similar art style and looks much better. Generations + Unleashed were both really gorgeous and this looks just serviceable. It has nothing to do with "realism" and it wouldn't be resolved by changing the art style if it'd have similar quality assets to the ones shown.

It honestly looks better aesthetically than any 3D Sonic.

Imo judging by that stage, it's easily one of the worst looking 3D Sonic games. I gladly take the broader, more ,,spectacular'' looks over that. In this stage, copying Galaxy really didn't do it favors, it looks like a poor mans Galaxy :/

WOW. That looks really impressive! Trying to keep expectations in check, but this looks like a Sonic game that can hang with the like of Mario once again.

It really is odd how much of a Sonic Xtreme vibe I get from this, even though I know the obvious comparison is Mario Galaxy. Willing to give it a shot, but it does look a little strange in spots.

Meh...not really liking what I see so far.

Hopefully, they'll find a way to fix the boring 2D sections that have plagued modern Sonic games.

Okay...so a cylindrical platforming game would allow the horizontal movement to be relatively limited and put the focus on forward momentum and linking together jumps.

They might have solved the eternal Sonic in 3D conundrum.

Yep, looks like Super Sonic Galaxy, but it looks like fun and that's what matters.

And I think the graphics and the art style look great as well, don't understand the negativity here.

I can't watch the trailer yet but the way GAF has gone into positivity overload suggests this is something special.

At least a half of Sonic Generations' assets are re-used and spiced up, that's why half of the game looks comparatively more slapdash than the Genesis remakes. It's clear that most effort went into making Green Hill and Chemical Plant while everything else, especially the original assets, are comparatively lazy. Generations from the looks of it wasn't a very high budget game.

Need for Speed Most Wanted U want a word with you but that is not the point, the game looks good and most important runs smooth. Sonic games must have locked 60 fps at all times. Maybe this game will have a very interesting level design and butter smooth frame rate to compensate an Ultimate Sonic experience.

The graphics are very nice aesthetically and that's all that matters for fantasy plat formers.

It that pop in in the middle-left?
It's rough LOD, yes. Likely being left at really safe levels until the game is more settled then it will be optimized. Sonic Team is really good at handling that stuff, so don't worry.
