Arrested Development Season 4: The Bluths are making new mistakes!

Nothing but the strictest mod control will be necessary for the Season 4 OT.

how do you mean? Are you expecting them to rigidly open discussion for each episode every 20-30 minutes? I'm expecting nothing but the most lax mod control, as soon as the episodes are available to watch it's up to people to avoid spoiling themselves if they can't marathon them right away.

The streaming service has agreed to bump up the original order by two to five more episodes, bringing the Season 4 total up to 12 or 15. Production is currently paused while Hurwitz adjusts for the expanded season, which is still on track to debut this spring. More details after the jump.

Well this doesn't sound as good as I thought it would. Expanding an already structured season out? Just ask for a new season!

I'm sorta shocked that Netflix would even put all episodes of something brand new to the market up at the same time, both for this and House of Cards. You would think they would want to release it more along the lines of a normal TV season, in order to keep people from just signing up for a trial and then not signing up again once the first month or whatever is up or once they finish watching it all. Then at the end of the "season" they would still have each episode up all together already.

Super Lttp on this but recently started watching Arrested Development and had to carry on watching them in one go. Utterly loved it and now all those random gifs on NeoGAF make more sense. :D

I'm currently watching season 3 for the first time and I'm somewhat shocked by how bad it is in comparison to the first two seasons.

This storyline with the British blonde is absolutely terrible.

do you not have a soul

edit: wow so today i learned that people did not like the Mr. F saga. mind blown. i thought it was fucking hilarious.

Season 4 will probably be disappointing based on how expectations grow over time and how we're going to be comparing new material to stuff we've seen many times and analyzed to death. You're also going to get a bunch of people who will say how bad it was in comparison, just because they know it has such a hardcore following.

This is how it will be, and how it should be. I'm going to avoid the OT altogether until I've watched every episode. Might be worth avoiding the OT until I've seen each episode twice since I'm sure people will be dissecting each episode and pointing out the subtler jokes that are often only caught on rewatches.

What I think GAF should actually do is create a separate 'Arrested Development Community Forum' where there are individual threads for each episode. The show deserves no less.

I'd imagine Hurwitz requested more episodes and Netflix OK'ed it. I don't think it'd be the other way around.

[edit] Yep:
The additional episodes came about when Hurwitz wound up with more material than he’d planned on and started coming up with ideas for additional story arcs. He approached Netflix, who agreed to bump up the order.

This may be kinda rote but I found season 3 much funnier on a second watch, they set all the Rita stuff up so early.

Agreed. I can't not see it now, even though I couldn't see it coming the first time. Dat accent.

Edit- Although I'll agree it was probably the show's low point, it wasn't bad. Just rushed. Although, it may be tied with the Nellie stuff in that department, that was even more rushed.

I'll agree but only because of her accent. Unbearable.

Workaholics.
Always Sunny
Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
Peep Show

Not better or worse, but I LOL at all of them a lot.

yes, these are good. also snuff box, there's full ep's on youtube and netflix so check it. the league has its moments as well.

*Jorge Oscar Bluth, the distant, Mexican cousin of the Bluths.

in season 4 we finally meet Jorge, distant son of George Sr. Jorge (played by Will Arnett in a mustache) is a rich businessman in mexico who largely profited off selling...you guessed it, cornballers. On the black market of course, they're not legal anywhere.

3 went way overboard with the explicit "Tobias is gay" jokes. Like, at least three per episode and they were all more overt. Poor writing there.

Tobias is gay?

I loved 3, but it was definitely a drop from 1 and 2. The Iraq/Nelly plotlines were rushed. I enjoyed the British Eyes arc a lot, though.

funniest thing about the show!

The Blue Man Group lines were brilliant.

Yeah I still really enjoyed season 3. I thought it produced some of the best moments. I loved Mock Trial with J. Reinhold and the William Hung Jury!

I swear on all things holy, my co-worker for my sister-company is a dead ringer for David Cross.

I mean it's unbelievable how much he looks like him.

Can't wait for the new season :)

Tell him you want to see him in only cutoffs.

Also, I had no idea about this, but apparently the writers planned to introduce that either Tobias' mother or father is black.

You can see it in "The Man Inside Me" cover: http://i.imgur.com/2ucLX.jpg
And there are jokes made about it like when Lindsay says "When someone hears the name Tobias they think of a big black guy" and Tobias says "Well, I'm not a big guy..."
Lucille refers to Tobias as a "colored" man (when painted blue).
Lindsay also says to Maeby, "I don't know where you get your hair from" in reference to her frizzy hair.

I don't know how common knowledge that is, but I audibly said "Ohhhhhhhhh" when I read that. :P I never understood that "Well, I'm not a big guy" comment.

"They hear the name 'Tobias' and they think 'big black man.'"

"Well I'm certainly not a big man."

Yeah season three doesn't get as many laughs as the other seasons for me, but it still has some of the best moments in the series. The not-so-subtle desperation about the show's cancellation.

"Please tell your friends about this show."

Season 3 had The Ocean Walker, the ending of which is probably the absolute apex for me in the entire show.

Yes, the third season was inconsistent. That's what happens when your episode order is suddenly shredded. But it still had some absolute gems.
