You know I just thought of something from like 5 years ago. A friend of mine's sister has some sort of security clearance (I don't know what she did, she never said, I only know the company and it made a lot of sense) and I remember her saying something along the lines of 'I will never cheat, not because of my husband, but because of my job.' And it seemed really strange and out of place, but it must come up a lot and now it makes a lot of sense.

That makes no sense. First it assumes that his higherups were OK with a man in charge of a spy agency being in an affair and only decided to sack him when it was convenient. That makes no sense by itself. Second, he's not falling on his sword since he's not an actual scapegoat. He'd have to resign for his failure for that to make any sense.

But anyway, I'm guessing this will be the big new right wing conspiracy theory for a while.
