I wonder if the helmet-frame is something that helps the gpu render less pixels per frame.
That would be something pretty clever.

If only we could apply this FXAA to Halo Reach...
Doom 3?

I thought this too once, but then I realized that the helmet frame is not in multiplayer. So... neh!
lol @ the gifs
Oh and hey, apparently a new multiplayer vidoc is being released... 3 minutes ago. I don't know if you weirdos in this thread knew about that already or not.

I wouldn't try to rationalize it that much, it's just a stylistic choice for single player while it would only get in the way and irritate the competitive heads in multiplayer. Also there's only one helmet to consider for campaign, while MP has dozens.Good catch, I forgot about multiplayer.
But then again, there's less going on in multiplayer, and spaces are more confined.
Well...

I probably won't be the last to say it, but there's no way in hell Halo 3 looked that bad. Halo 4 is a monumental step forward, nevertheless, but let's not get carried away.
Other than the horrible jpg artifacts, that is how that specific area looks in Halo 3. Super jagged, blurry mipmaps as far as the eye can see, lots of flat looking foliage. Motion perhaps makes it look less stark, but there are no smoke and mirrors in that shot.I probably won't be the last to say it, but there's no way in hell Halo 3 looked that bad. Framerate looks really solid in these videos, no dips at all.
i want to kill the person in your avatar
From what I've noticed in videos, that's actually the inside of the helmet being rendered and not just a black area on the screen faking the illusion of looking from inside the helmet, you can see all the detail when the light shines in at certain angles.I wonder if the helmet-frame is something that helps the gpu render less pixels per frame.

I seriously could not believe how good the footage I saw was. Looked better than anything on consoles. Especially the character models.
Just now watched that 25 min 1080p yt. Very good looking and sounding. Blown away actually.

I really don't get the point of judging a game that came out early in the consoles lifecycle to one nearing it's end. Of course it's going to look worse.

can't find it.
has it been taken down ?

This game came out the same year...
Why are you comparing it to a completely different game, wouldn't it be better to compare it to fps released in 2007 like COD 4 and Bioshock?
Nope, I just found it on YT. Use google and choose your words wisely ; )
Is it me, or the do the weapon sounds, sound, cheap?
True. But Bizarre Creations were a really talented team. They DID THAT in 2007...
Forza Horizon is an even bigger jump.
It's you. I watched the one vid through the YouTube app on 360 running through my 7.1 Pioneer, and the new gun sounds are great. From the AR to the 50 cal on the Warthog. Even the Warthog sounds better. Sounds mean lol

Ok good, I am on some cheap speakers at work right now. Although I will say, I'm used to BF3/Bad Company weapons. I couldn't hear any reverb/echo on the Halo 4 weapons in the environments.
The audio of the spiker weapon sounds much different to me. Better, but different. I also love how lit up the ghosts are.
I mean seriously, look at the character models and animations in comparison to Killzone 3

They seriously found some extra juice in the 360 that I did not think it had left.
I'll give you the human weapons sound great. The rest of the sound design in the game is total shit though from the videos I've seen. I 100 percent hate the sound of the Covenant weapons and honestly don't like any of the music at all either. Course I'm sure I'm in the minority.
Is there some similar gif from Uncharted 3 animations? not the "pre-render" videos.
The music seemed decent from what I heard, but I'm even more in the minority. I turn music off in almost all of my games, unless it's Halo...then I can't, because if I play a song and pause it, it messes with other audio in the game.
yeah, let's choose a halo 3 screen that looks like ass and compare it to halo 4.

Yea I'm the same way. Course I've always liked the music in the games till Halo 4 here. So I've never wanted to turn the music off on them. This one though I wouldn't mind an option to.
uh, no. that halo 3 pic was simply a horrible moment to take a screenshot, direct feed or otherwise.Well it's a direct feed.
Of the course the photomode pics hold up well.
are u kidding me? youre comparing two very different styles. if anything, the killzone one is more realistic!I mean seriously, look at the character models and animations in comparison to Killzone 3
