Ok, general question, please no spoilers or even hinted spoilers.. For those who know the story/spoilers.. should I expect good things? I always enjoyed the universe of Halo but felt the story told in the games was a bit weak.

For me, it looks like Killzone 3 - motion blur + BF3 lighting + Halo scenarios + 720p + good IQ

Based on everything I have seen, it is easily one of the most visually impressive FPS games ever. The visual style is very 'consistent' across the board. Everything just looks extremely solid and weighty. Character facial animation is some of the best ever on a console.
And the HDR effects are godly.

You need a modded xbox 360 to play the leaked game right? So it's gotta be a very small percentage of people who will download this and play it, and subsequently not buy the game.
It won't affect sales at all, the only thing it changes is that the story/ending gets leaked way before the game comes out. Sucks but it's not the end of the world for 343. They had to know it was going to leak, it was just a matter of when.
I'm jealous though and frustrated that people can play it before I can.

I don't think this leak will do anything. M$ is seemingly trying to curtail the connectivity of said players via the ban hammer so I doubt it will affect sales.
I don't care if people can play it before me. I hate that people are actively trying to spoil it to those who don't want to know. I don't mind a few spoilers.. but a few places on Reddit had people actively posting huge spoilers in normal halo discussions. That's just too far, and they can only do that because the game leaked.

Yeah for the minority of us that check Kotaku, don't fucking go there at all.
Usually what those bastards end up doing is running a story that something has leaked and that people should be careful about leaks and not getting spoiled, and then weeks later they assume everyone's been spoiled and end up running stupid editorials with the spoilers in their thumbnails and/or hints to such in the titles.

It's a learned habit. On other forums I've seen Microsoft typed as M$ and i just literally followed suit. It's a funny abbreviation when I look at it lol.
It's silly since all three console makers are in the business for making money...

Games need to probably have some steam encrypt feature so their games can't be leaked fully before launch. Bad news.
There was part of a picture or gif posted and it was made known that it was a porn video (clown and a woman). Then people started asking for PMs of the video link/name. Everyone that asked for a pm of that got banned for asking. I think there was a warning but they didn't see it or pay enough attention. It was derailing the thread.
Like if someone were to ask for links to a stream it would be just like the clown porn thing almost (I think advertising links to pirated game streams is a no on gaf from history).

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened next-gen, but currently all games have to have their single-player mode available offline.
Pretty sure it's gone in splitscreen. At least, I recall another GAF member complaining about it being missing.
Also put me in the camp that finds it an annoying feature - too distracting with the jumpy motion. Surely they could have found better use of render time than that.

So, are you guys saying the graphics are on par with Uncharted? I'm curious as to why I'm not seeing more people bragging about the graphical fidelity

Most people who care for Halo are in the community thread, and this being a leak thread with spoilers they are all avoiding it.
Just wait until the release date. 360 fanboys will go crazy over the graphics.
From what I have seen it is pretty impressive stuff they are pulling off on the hardware.

oh, ok. i'm not too fussed about the shadowing. hopefully however the aliasing in halo 4 splitscreen wont be as bad as it was in reach splitscreen.

Why not? Some elements looks on par with Uncharted, some other looks better and some other worse.
A streamer beat the campaign on easy is about 5 1/2 hours, I'd expect between 6 to 7 for a normal playthrough.

Perhaps I should of stated how long it is on heroic. Easy in Halo games is a cake walk and you can just blow through the games. Heroic is like the best level to play halo games.

Thanks! Easy mode is... Easy. Normal mode is the lowest game mode for me.

You're not going to get a realistic time to beat any game judging it on how quickly someone that stole the game rushes through it on easy so he can be the first to scream, "FIRST!"
