In order to be a prophet a source is required.
Most prophets source was god, mine was just a dude
I think everyone does. Except Square Enix
I want to be able to see the score so I can go after the leader and bring his score down.
Also, do level hazards reduce your meter? I hope so.
I'd take Noctis, even though his actual game isn't out yet.
It could have worked! I mean, we got Dante and Raiden already.

Well, I am someone so it's not everyone. :X
Anyway, I don't get why you guys hate Lightning so much. She is a perfect addition to these game in terms of combat, and uniqueness, while Cloud would be just another sword user.
Yes. Orbs come out of you and your meter is reduced.
In timed mode they don't show the score so that the leader isn't able to run for the last crucial seconds in a match. It is implemented like that so that everyone tries there best through the whole match. Super Smash Bros does the same thing for its timed mode. Stocks will be the mode where you will be able to see you and your opponents lives and know who's winning because there is no way to lame it out in that mode. Most people will end up using Stocks in this game like in SSB.
This is another one of those things that just makes sense AFTER u play the game. U are the first on here to still complain after playing the game. My advice to u is to keep a mental track. It's not hard in the 2:30 of gameplay to do this, and once u do it, u beging to win by those 1 or 2 point differences. Give it time and u will appreciate it (I think)
I think you misunderstand. I actually like Lightning. She's even my PSN avatar!
I would just much prefer Cloud. Not only for the character himself, but for how iconic he is and what he represents for Playstation

Yes basically you have lives that will eventually run out.Ah, I presume stocks mode is where you're given a number of lives as opposed to a timer?
I think that's the guy that everyone complains about hahaHave you guys played redskinsrocks? All he does is lighting dash then lvl1 with sly. Its sad he kept running from me.
Yeah but if we are playing stocks then how would that other person win if he jumps in the water and isn't fighting.Except you know, jump into the water where you can't get any supers off...

It would really only work for multiplayer stocks waiting for the other people to kill each other. Then emerge from the water at basically full stock. If you avoid the fish I think you could easily survive down there. I just think its odd to have a gameplay element where people can't really kill you in.Yeah but if we are player stocks then how would that other person win if he jumps in the water and isn't fighting.
Also I can't confirm this but I do think the water kills you if your in there for a very long time. I've played a couple matches where players got disconnected and there character was still there and they fell into the water and after a while they would just die and respawn only to get knocked into the water again and eventually die.
Well, ideally they'd put Balthier in. But SE hates him too
Mink. Please. It's a Gunblade. -_-
It's true though.

I wasnt referring to lighting lol, i meant just in general when people were speculating characters and we would rule out a bunch because there were so many gun guys compared to sword guys at the time
Oh I see. Sorry x_x

After playing the beta, I don't really understand why there's hatred towards the whole "supers only get you kills" idea. If you think about it, it is similar to SSB in that you must strike your opponents until their damage % is high enough to knock them off the stage. In PSABR, striking your opponent builds up your meter (damage % in SSB terms) so that you can kill them (knock them off the stage). I dunno, does my understanding make sense?

I don't mean to complain I'm just new to this type of fighter. I'm still excited!
Fat Princess had a natural glow in her image.
Perfection.
Thank you! I will use it always.

Catch me up?
Agreed. I love the concept of a Sony mashup fighting game, but they've seriously stumbled on the execution.Sorry, I didn't mean to be cryptic. To be honest, I'm surprised people think this looks good (with regards to actual gameplay elements - the characters, stages, and concept are great!)
This is so, so true. I was getting the shit kicked out of me at multiple instances because it was my first match, but it didn't matter because I was never hit with a Super, so fuck them I get to live. It didn't really seem fair at all.Dacvak said:The idea that your attacks don't do anything AGAINST the specific player you're targeting is a terrible, terrible idea. There should be proper cause and effect when fighting.
I cannot agree with this enough. The Super mechanic just seems so fucking bad. Not to mention the fact that it gets stale using the same moves to score points every time.Dacvak said:But that's not even the biggest reason why this game looks bad, or at least shouldn't be taken seriously. It's the way you actually score points - the Supers in the game. What a stupid, broken way of scoring. It causes a few glaring problems from the getgo, so let me dive right in.
First off, it makes each character's vast moveset essentially pointless. Since the only way to actually score any points is the Super, you'll end up basing who you choose to play as on the character with the best Super. And, trust me, there will be definite "good Supers" and "bad Supers" in this game, and that aspect alone will cripple characters' potential.
Additionally, it adds a TON of weight to the Supers - far more than is comfortable. If you blow a level three super, you lose the match. You just lose. And fighting games, especially party fighting games, are decidedly unpredictable - you'll undeservingly fail at Supers all the time, essentially being punished arbitrarily. No fighting game should place so much emphasis on ONE move - it needs to be a balance.
Not to mention (and we've seen it in the QL video) that, despite invincible frames, people can essentially get spawn killed. In fact, who you kill in this game doesn't even matter, as long as you get the kills! That means that your target will always be whoever is most convenient. And the idea of one-hit-kills in general is just such an awful way to score... It'd be like a game of soccer where the goal is closed off until one team had possession of the ball for X amount of time, at which point the goal opens up, and there's no goalie to defend.
Again, I completely agree. Especially with the bolded. I would have preferred just a straight copy of Smash with Sony characters to this bizarre idea that, as far as I can tell, just doesn't work.Dacvak said:I just can't stress enough how flawed the concept of scoring in this game is. It's different entirely for the sake of being different. Someone said "well, you better not make this like Smash or Street Fighter - make something new!", and then the devs just duct taped some shitty concept together and said "this has to work, because it's our only option." It's just so silly. Can you imagine playing Street Fighter where the only way to win would be to land a super? Other moves wouldn't decrease their HP, but landing a Super would be a one-hit-kill? (I know my analogies aren't perfect, but you get what I mean.)
Played my first match (as Kratos) and I think I won (it froze after it finished, right before the scoreboard came up) but unfortunately, I don't think the game is very good. I've had concerns about the basic gameplay design since learning how it works, and the one match I've played so far has not helped.

I suppose 1v1 could still work with the Super idea, but I'm just really hoping that they have some sort of HP mode or something at this point. There could be a good game in All-Stars that's being ruined by the developers' desperate attempt to be different.
I feel like someone around the office, probably Omar, is really good with Parappa, and so he's been balanced accordingly.
I love him to death, but his supers are extremely easy to waste compared to everyone elses, with his level 1s small cone and his level 2s short duration. I'll hopefully get better accordingly, but its heartbreaking when someone directly in front of you lags through your level 1 for the umpteenth time.
Also, hey to anyone who I've bumped into this evening!
At this point all i can recommend is playing another game completely if you want something different than this.
The super machanic is very unique, and i love it quite frankly, but i understand why some people dont. So play a different game lol
Maybe they will implement a health mode where supers just do more than usual health? Idk or anything but it would be a fresh mix up for those like yourselves who are apathetic about the super mechanic.
Oh sweet Jesus..... Kotaku put up there impression of the game.... but I don't want to link to that piece of shit.
Considering Sony's track record and the amount of games coming out this fall, I am sure there will be an update and all games after that will require the PS3 to be updated.
Custom Firmware aka A Hacked PS3
From a non fighting game person's perspective (that'd be me), the Supers to kills system is totally ideal for me. My problem with other fighting games is that I get my teeth kicked in or in the case of Smash get knocked off the stage over and over again (sometimes by accident), here I am ALWAYS in the fight. Even if I am losing by 10 points, I am still able to fight and get kills. That doesn't mean a complete noob or a person can just luck into victory, but as time goes by said noobs (like me) will start to pick up on the strategy and mechanics and become more skillful with combos because they are able to stay in there and fight. I have never seen a game reward the skillful players handsomely (Supers) and yet allow newcomers the ability to learn the game in the thick of it.
In other fighting games, if I don't know what buttons to push and the other guy does I am going to be in the corner so fast and dead that I won't even have the chance to learn a simple move. I could go into practice mode and learn moves (yawn), but even then I am facing a dummy or AI and it will come nowhere close to matching the improvisation of a human player. Then guess what? I am done with the game and never want to play it again. Here though, even if I was killed by a Super 6 times I can still learn a lot about this game by being allowed to stay in the fight and landing Supers of my own.
Hope that makes sense, and it is just the way I see this game. Maybe some others agree, and others think this game requires no skill. But I think it is exactly the opposite. The skillful will have an easier time winning and may always win, but the noobs will be allowed in the same arena and have the opportunity to learn and become skillful themselves. Even if they are getting destroyed.
probably filled with at least 10 analogies why the game isn't smash and everything it does is always 2 steps back.
I'm beginning to worry about the review scores for this game
