Legend of Korra |OT| - Saturday Mornings Just Got Better

never seen last airbender, do I need to watch that first?

I never watched TLA, other than the Koh episode I caught by chance one day so at least I understand the discussion in this thread on Amon theories. Korra is still an amazing series without any prior Avatar knowledge.

So I was watching Sozin's Comet cause I wanted to see Aang fuck Ozai up again.

Whoever said the light show was all in their head....yeah I kind of doubt that, those beams of light were piercing the skies and when Aang took Ozai's bending the beams were making clouds swirl around and shit. What's the point in that if they just wanted to show a visual representation of Aang and Ozai's energies fighting each other? There's no reason or indication to think this is in their head and not actually happening physically. It's not like this is something out of the ordinary for the Avatar, Kyoshi clouded the skies back on Avatar Day when she possessed Aang.

I figure lack of light show for Yakone was because there was no struggle of wills to be had, unlike with Ozai.

Think you're reading too much into it. Swirling clouds looks cool.

But why do the clouds swirl? You can't explain that!

Rule of cool works I guess. But I still think it happened for real.

Those are clearly willpower clouds, from all the will power flying around.

The only reason why the did the whole light show was because it was the finale. If he just touched his forehead and won, no one would have liked that. Its not like when they did that they we're thinking of the consequences for a new series. But since they liked energy bending, they decided to just not make it so flashy. They aren't above retconing stuff.

Occam's Razor is tellin me it's a very simple solution. Just like Tarrlok being Yakones son was so obvious, but people thought he had a whole crazy complicated situation and a triad of bloodbenders, and base their assumptions on shit they've gleaned from way back when.

The guys writing it don't have to follow their own rules, they can do whatever they want. Most likely thing is Amon is someone Aang/Zuko wronged in the past and is out for revenge.

Amon and the Lieutenant are Longshot and the Duke. Mystery solved, go home.

If it's not Aang's other son I'm going to be disappointed, I know it's cliche, but dammit I want it to be him

It'd be a bigger oh shit moment if they had him in any episode besides the reveal.

I'd like to introduce Sokka's science to Sokka's instincts. They're made for each other
cause they're sometimes wrong.

I'd like to point out that Sokka's instincts ultimately saved that village. If they'd have flown away, Jet would have flooded the place without opposition.

I hope S2 gives more time to show case Mako/Bolin and Asami's personalities. Mako and Asami barely got any and that's a shame. Only Korra really got any characterization, everyone else was just sorta there. I mean Mako rarely does anything interesting. I tried to like him and at first it appeared he had some hidden depths but it's rarely seen and we rarely do anything.

Sorry for the double post, but a new clip is out.

Waiting for my slow-ass net connection to cache it, so I don't know what it's about yet, but I've seen the first few seconds and it's definitely new.

Edit: Okay, seen it. LOL.

Another Meelo moment!

"This is not what I signed up for!"
:D :D :D

It's nice little moments like these that make Avatar Avatar.

Yep. And I'm glad there's room made for them in The Legend of Korra. Episodes are pretty jam packed, so bits like this are always good.

Its still kinda unfortunate that shit will get serious later in the episode as i would have liked some more "downtime" with everyone either by getting certian shit off their chests (Asami, etc) or just fucking around (the kids) like this clip

Funny how people would probably have complained a lot about "filler" episodes like that if they had 20 episodes for the season. In fact, people complained about episode 5 which was the closest we got to a "downtime" episode.

And now we complain there isn't enough time for the charcters to breath. And it's very unfortunate that the is no "filler" if you ask me.

To be fair I think more of the complaints for that came from the shipping that was going on (given people's usual reaction to that stuff) and a bit from probending (which some people don't really like) and not neccessarily the "downtime" itself. So you could say they just didn't like what the crew dedicated the downtime to.

I liked that ep though crappy shipping included. :D

The Beach ver.2?

It doesn't have to be like that tbh but it would have been nice to give some more time since Korra was recovering plus you could add everyone getting
ready for Amon's "endgame"

I'm throwing this out there.

Amon doesn't take away bending or steal bending. He blocks people's ability to use their bending and the most important detail, it is reversible.

The bender has to learn how to access their chi to re-activate their bending.

This is what will happen to Korra. He'll block her bending and S2 will be about her learning how to access her chi to use bending again.

Early in the season, around like "Voice in the night" I was thinking the same thing. Seems like with how overconfident Korra was at the start of the series it would be the way to actually take away all her skill and force her to deal with the spirit side of being the Avatar. But now I'm not so sure, mainly because I'd assume that she finally has to learn airbending at some point and use it, which with this season almost over I can't see there being the time for that.

Still that's always the good thing about Korra and ATLA. They often use pretty standard plots and plot twists, but they love to tweak them in different directions then you might initially expect. I like that even for a show with a rather straight forward overall plot I've not a single real clue about what's going to happen at the end of this season.

I would imagine healers would be pretty knowledgeable about chi and stuff. But even they've stated Amon's technique was irreversible. (according to Tahno).
