Legend of Korra |OT| - Saturday Mornings Just Got Better

When they finally reveal Amon, they better not screw it up. 'Cause he is utterly awesome as a villain and it would be a shame to see him reduced to something cliche or hackneyed.

So I watched Avatar for the first time a couple of months ago and I really liked it. Finally caught up with Korra now and I might like it even better! I'm 26 years old and I'm enjoying this cartoon way more than most series out there.

That said, is this season really only 10/11 x 20mins long? That is so short. :( Wasn't the last airbender even 20 episodes per season?

it was 12 at first, got another 14 before it even started. Don't know why they cock-teased like that.

Goddessami.

Also a WIP Bolin.

Both from Bryan's Tumblr. Seems to be drawing all the characters for some sort of promotion for the finale. I'm thinking they're big enough to make into some cool retina display friendly wallpapers for my iPhone 4S.

They're fuckin stupid. Things beating out Game of Thrones and they are on the bubble with it.
It's not about ratings or anything like that. Bryan and Mike originally wanted to make a short tightly packed new series with no filler and that's exactly what they got. I'm sure Nick would've welcomed a new saga similar to TLA with open arms.

Bryan has said that if it was possible they would've made TLA's seasons 12-14 episodes long too.

The second season of 14 episodes is going to be its own story though. The original story, going for the first 12 episodes, is self-contained. We don't know what the story of the second season will be yet.

Caught the episode online. I like the flashbacks, but I kinda admit that I would have preferred them to have stayed silent and washed out color-wise. The voices and dialog were not bad, but I liked having to try to put all the pieces together instead of everyone just talking and spelling it out, keep a bit of the mystery about the visions and have Korra actually put things together.

Aside from that the usual good and bad for me with Korra (not to sound negative, I feel the good far outweighs the bad). The romance and dialog can be a bit clumsy at times, and the pace continues to be a bit oddly rushed. At the same time I love how the plot keeps humming along now that pro-bending is over, I like all the adults + Korra, animation is stupidly top-notch, and all that.

To some degree I don't like all the comparison talk between Korra / ATLA as inevitable as it is. I enjoy both shows and it seems a bit unfair to pit one against the other. Especially given the pacing, by the episode number that Toph was introduced in ATLA the entire currently planed series of Korra will be over and ended. But with all the flashbacks in this episode I really do want to go back and watch a little bit of ATLA again. I wanna get my wife started watching Korra, but with all this backstory and being so close to the ending I think it might be better to just start ATLA with her and see if she likes it enough to watch that.

potato video spoilers for episode 10:

The Lieutenant is one of the lamest bad guys ever.

Dude better get an upgrade or something before the final episodes because he's on team rocket's level right now.

Whats funny he was doing well in the beginning but as usual badass decay needs to set in. Only 2 people have made a fool of him and thats Korra a few times and Asami once.

He needs to pick his opponents better. But I bet next time he squares off against Mako and/or Bolin they'll whoop his ass, so it ultimately doesn't matter. He's a loser.

If that happens then badass decay is in full effect since he handily whopped their asses the last time and they have shown no signs of getting better since then.

I guess being defeated by an animal already places him on the path already so why not go all out LOL

FBI all up in this thread. :O

We already knew it from the episode description, but I'm still wondering why they decided to start the big battle before the finale. I wonder if "Skeletons in the Closet" (Episode 11) will be a calmer backstory episode in between two big action-centered episodes. I'm excited to find out. Also, I hope they explain when and how Naga got her shit together, otherwise it's kind of annoying (if minor) for her to suddenly be jumping around with the whole crew on her back.

Unfortunately I'll be out of town this weekend so I'll have to catch this episode on the DVR on Tuesday. I should be able to watch the finale live while recuperating from having my wisdom teeth taken out, though. :lol

I find it hilarious the foot soldiers and Amon are all threats but his right hand man is a pansy who often gets his ass kicked by Korra.

At least he knows how to electrocute water I suppose.

Finally saw the last episode. The way she communicated with Aang totally matched up with my predictions. I knew that at some point in the season she would be imprisoned in a small area and she would meditate to connect to Aang. Though to be fair I thought she would actually talk with him in this situation. Maybe Aang only sends memories because Korra is not yet spiritual enough to see him?

Am I the only one that wants to see a slam or two to Shyamalan's movie? Like they have a person pretending to be an Earthbender and he does the Pebble Dance, or a thug that thinks Firebenders need a source of fire, only to get his ass scorched.

It probably won't happen since they likely want to distance themselves from that trainwreck.

Tahno calls Korra the "Uhh-vatar". That's probably as much as a nod as the film deserves.

"I once bested a man with my trusty boomerang who was able to firebend.. with his MIND."

Soooo Sokka. Love it.
I just had to make it right after watching that episode, I was just waiting for an excuse to post it.

You're never going to get a real reference to the thing that will not be named. Just imagine the ending of The Ember Island Players and this GIF:

to be your Take That.

Nothing at all spoilery about that clip whatsoever (will still tag however, but really it's not at all).
Pretty much a summary of last week's episode climax with an obvious observation by Tenzin. Honestly, given the 22-24 minute episodes, I reckon they could've cut that exposition...

Still, I'm pumped for next Saturday. Hope it's a good one! :D

Last ep was another great one.
How the fuck was Amon resisting the bloodbending technique? That shit blew my mind. I wish we got a proper explanation about how Tarlock and his father could bloodbend without a full moon though. Too bad we can't get it now since he's dead.

Well Tarrlok isn't dead yet. He could easily provide an explanation.

At this point though, it just seems that Yakone's bloodline were freakishly adept bloodbenders.

Nickelodeon is stupid, oh how I wish I could buy the Avatar: TLA OST and blu-ray episodes. Let's hope they use their brains this time, though I'm guessing it's unlikely that this series gets released on blu-ray?
