Hmmm the Leafs just have to win against the Isles again tomorrow night and they'll be back in 8th spot (this is assuming Boston vs. Washington is a win for Boston).

Leafs are still 10 points ahead of where they were last year, they just need to show up (still bitter about the game against Montreal).

No Ovechkin, Backstrom, Green....

Ovechkin is a disrespectful and arrogant player. Calling his coach a "fat fuck" was an embarrassing blemish on his character... I have no real comment on why exactly the Capitals and Ovechkin are playing poorly, but I just want to reiterate how pathetic that incident was.

Big, big win. I was afraid the home-streak would end tonight. Blues are a very good team, with excellent defense and goaltending. Detroit's superior skill up front showed in this game though.

Overall a great game, playoff athmosphere, could be a 2nd/3rd round matchup in the playoffs this..

7 Straight!!

and 17 straight at home!!!

What a game Blue's fans. Nice to see a rivalry possibly coming back. Now all we need is Colorado to get a little better and we can start another rivalry with them. It would be the late 90's all over again. :D

That was a great game my friends, a wonderfully great game!

Also finally a win that doesn't go to OT or a SO.

He is a fucking asshole if he said that and words like that really hurt when you have it said to you time and time again.

Yeah it's back I think. I'm going to be bitter as hell tomorrow.

nice win. pietrangelo got owned on the 1st two wings goals...rough night for him. that datsyuk backhand was filthy. and howard continues to roll.

it could easily be a 1st round matchup if the hawks take the central. yikes.

The time off he took to rehab his shoulder really helped him. He's probably in much better physical shape right now.

Not so sure it was the shoulder or more concussion rest time.

Glad for our boys! Forz...er...cold play welcome back! How has pizza pide been lately! ;)

Look what Taylor Hall started ... now Spezza takes a puck to the head during warmup and leaves the ice bleeding.

No wonder we haven't won in Los Angeles in over 12 years when shit like this happens.

I don't see them doing that. Wings schedule down the stretch is a lot easier than what Chicago has. Detroit is the front runner for taking the division at the moment. Obviously that could change quickly though..

Talking playoff matchups I'll be fine with anything as long as we don't have to play Phoenix and San Jose again.

I just read a Swedish article speculating on where Parise could go if they need to dump salary. Since they can't take on any significant salary, the deal would have to consist of mainly prospects and picks. But at the same time they need to replace Brodeur, so one of his frontrunners were a deal with Schneider and picks/prospects. I kind of feel that it make sense. I can't imagine how i would feel if Parise wen't to the fucking Nucks of all teams. Imagine one line with Sedins and a second with Parise-Kesler. Oh my god.

EDIT: Welcome back kinghenrik

3 games for Ovechkin sounds about right. Not expecting any Caps wins any time soon.

This is a post from hfboards that I find myself agreeing with partly.

What's irksome is that apparently the difference between a hockey play gone bad (Shanny's video all but says the hit is clean had Ovy not letft his feet) that results in no injury, and a non-hockey play that has its intended effect of cheap-shotting a player out of commission for a significant period of time -- the difference between those 2 circumstances is 2 fuggin games.

Ovechkin certainly had a dirty hit but to be suspended 2 less games than delivering a blatant elbow to the head is a joke. No consistency in the suspension lengths. If Michalek not being injured in the incident shortened Ovi's ban than why wasn't Bourque's lengthened for turning Backstrom's brain into soup?

KING HENRIK! Missed you dude

I was wondering where you were.

What's good Hockey-Gaf Brothers? Have had some personal shit to deal with so I've been away (sorry I fucked up the fantasy league(s)! But I blame aforementioned personal shit). Back now - and after 3 HFBoards permabannings! Apparently telling someone they are on crack for suggesting that the Rangers would trade McMonster and a 1st for Hemsky is not "constructive criticism".

Also, a preemptive "Fuck the Rangers", I have no doubts this will all end up with me cursing each and every one of these fuckers!

Although I don't really care what an athlete's beliefs, morals, or whatever may be (that's not why I cheer for them), I'm pretty disappointed in Thomas. For someone that's always come across as such a nice guy, this was a real asshole move. He knew exactly what the result of this would be — should've just sucked it up and gone if he really wasn't trying to make a statement (that's hogwash). His teammates probably don't care, as I'm sure some of him are familiar with his view and it probably won't have an effect on the ice, but I can't imagine that the organization is happy.

I'm very interested in seeing how the fanbase responds to this in the long run. Rask as the new darling? I'm also interested in seeing how the fans in Washington react tomorrow, but I doubt Thomas will get the start anyway.

I'm a big Rangers fan but since moving up to Boston a few years ago, I've come to like the Bruins a lot as an alt team (as long as they're not playing the Rangers), and especially like Tim Thomas. This was very disheartening to hear today. Grandstanding, empty bullshit. And now the more I read about him, the worse it gets. :(

Relax, Socreges made up the part about him drowning his fourth-born child.

Listen. I'm not saying that Tim Thomas killed his fourth-born child to preserve the sanctity of KKK. I'm not saying that. Not at all. But one has to wonder why he has neglected to mention this fourth-born child and why he has shielded his wife from responding. It raises a lot of questions. Questions that I know all of you very intelligent people would like baby-killing Tim Thomas to provide answers to. That's all I'm saying.

I don't know if anyone here follows Dave Hodge on twitter, but all his tweets are blatant trolls / jokes, surprised anyone thought he was serious.

I don't see how the Canucks could take any much more significant salary either, though, unless we can somehow move Ballard. Salo retiring wouldn't even help much since his cap hit is only $2M and he'd need to be replaced (unless Tanev blossoms).

It'd be awesome, though, no doubt. Canucks could always move a forward or two (eg, Raymond) to make it happen, but I wouldn't want depth being compromised either.
