Very interested in both this game and Phase Zero. Both old school fixed camera style games which I really wish we got more of back then. So I'm glad we're getting more of these now.
 
Look, I get the classic appeal of fixed cameras and tank controls, but can't feel that it's choosing a worse option just because.

Imagine an FPS game coming out with the pre-Alien:Resurrection FPS controls on console.

Other than that it does look good.
 


Ground Zero is a retro survival horror game where you'll take on the role of Seo-Yeon, an elite Korean operative who has been tasked with investigating the meteor impact site in her homeland. Back up by her Canadian counterpart Evan, Seo-Yeon must make her way through the post-apocalyptic landscape, gather biological data on the mutated creatures that inhabit it, and piece together the mystery behind this anomalous event.

Has a couple bundles so I got it for $16.

15 hours playtime. It's gonna be good. Really enjoyed the demo.
 
Anyone playing this? Impressions on Steam are really positive. The price is great (if you own some other games, it gets discounted even more) and it seems to be lengthy for a fixed camera survival horror games.

 
Spend many hours into this even more than RE REQUIEM and have to say this game was better. It's basically the Grace section but better, bigger, with way more weapons. Campaign was better, replay value was better, unlockables are better than RE Requiem for me. And a nice big mercenary style mode too after beating the game. A big steal for 20 dollars.
 
mèx mèx Feature complete game. It's really good. $20 is a great price for what you get and it's a RE/Dino Crisis hybrid.

10-12 hour campaign
Multiple playthroughs encouraged for alternate paths you can take
Unlockable Apocalypse Crisis mode which is reminiscent of RE3 Mercenaries featuring multiple playable characters and stages
Unlockable Costumes and more

Sounds amazing, I just bought it. Since I have Tormented Souls 2 it applies a discount so I got it for 13.7 EUR.

Good thing these indie devs are keeping this style of survival horror alive. It just hits different.

Completed my first run. Great game. If you like Classic Resident Evil especially 2 and 3 it's really good. Great vibe and atmosphere. Will replay and do the alternate paths down the road. Had a blast. Enjoyed it more then Requiem. Lots of great moments and more varied locales.

Hawk The Slayer Hawk The Slayer I agree it is much better then Requiem. Pacing was very nice. I'll have to try the right side paths but I really loved the Hospital and Busan University sections. It got pretty tense.
 
I'm just a few hours in, this completely mogs RE9 as a survival horror. It even has modern controls for the noobs (don't use them).

Capcom should play Ground Zero and Tormented Souls 2 if they want a refresher on how to do a proper survival horror. It's a shame that few people played this, it has only 600 reviews on Steam.

Finished, took me around 17 hours.

Well, it was excellent, a great homage to the classic survival horrors.

The game focuses more on exploration than puzzling (at least on normal), as you are going around a sprawling city in a variety of different locations. I mean, there are plenty of small puzzles too, but nothing too involved. The game has branching paths, so to see all locations you would need to play this twice, which is nice if you want to replay the game.

The camera work was pretty good, it's mostly composed of clean cuts compared to something like Tormented Souls 2. I think Tormented Souls 2 really elevated how camera direction can be employed in fixed camera games, but Ground Zero did great too, even if in a more traditional way. This game has tons of screens, way more than any classic RE game.

There are plenty of weapons to use, even though on normal you can basically dispatch most enemies with the standard pistol by using the critical shot. Probably it would be worth to play it on hard to see if you are forced to use more weapons. I'm also curious to see what setting the puzzles to hard does.

It's a must play for fans of classic survival horror games. Don't let it fly under your radar if you like these kind of games!

Ground Zero made me regret buying Requiem. That's how good it is. Ground Zero is among the great Indie horrors alongside Signalis and Crow Country.

The praise for this game is surprising. I tried the demo and some parts of it felt pretty lackluster. Does it improve afterwards?

If you didn't vibe with it after completing either the hospital or the police station, then it's fine to drop it. I found the general quality to be constant, some areas are better than others though.

I think I dropped the demo before then. It just felt like it was a tier below many of the other demos for old school survival horror games I tried at the time, including Phase Zero, Pulsebreaker, Holstin, etc.

Phase Zero demo is incredibly short. By time it gets going it's already over.
 
Some nice level design but the art style is very off putting for me even if this game had released 20 years ago.

Would recommend Echoes of the living over this and even tormented souls games.
