Trailer looks awesome but it's Square Enix. They can't make games as awesome as they used to. It will probably be long and boring and with woke nonsense included. I will still buy and play it but my expectations are low.

She's basically Lyse 2.0, so she is now firmly in the rear view mirror after her story is complete, permanently stuck in Tuliyollal forevermore.
They also got rid of the pink-haired translator after only one expansion and replaced her with someone who seems normal, so things are looking up.

interesting that it's being position as the main tank. I suppose two shields does provide the most defense out of all the tanks. also, Yoshi-P probably really did some strength training to put those on

anyways i do remember that 1st dialogue with that person i lost my shits and skipped whole story and semi-quited after that ;D and few weeks ago i speedran 7.1-7.5 cause that person was still there anyways for the trailer i like that piano music at the beginning =)

My Switch 2 is ready.
Been playing every expansion day one since ARR on PS3. The game lost its luster for me, but playing handheld will be the saving grace. Can't wait.

The trailer was great as always they sure know how to make them and Bastion looks bad ass. Art direction is solid and the floating islands and the intricate design look incredible. Apparently Visna (girl in the trailer) is the second job and it looks like it may be pet related. Soken was doing a panel this morning where he was doing a recognize the sound effect thing and played the sound from the trailer when she summons or interacts with the bird and asked if anyone knew what it was and said you won't but it's for the 2nd DPS job they're revealing at Tokyo fan fest. Chances are they've edited the weapon out like they did in previous trailers but people speculating it'll be crossbows or something similar. The final Fantasy 7 raid will probably be neat but my hype levels are medium I'm FF7'd out at this point but I'm definitely interested in the Evangelion Raid and I wanna see what that is about. A lot of the new music is also sounding top notch as always i've seen very few games where the music has been this consistent no stop so props to Soken.
I really hope they nail it this time. I personally didn't think Dawntrail was as bad as most make it out to be and would argue that it has some of the best dungeons in the game to date, really good extreme fights and imo easily the best 8 man raid so it has a lot going for it. The expansion has had a lot of rough moments and I hope they learn from that. I was a bit disappointed though they didn't show more of the systems in actions like they said they would as a lot of this was the US show recap and 30 minutes on FF7 Remake lol. Crazy to think I've been playing this since the 1.0 beta and it's neat seeing how far this game has come.

I play in Japanese and hated Wuk Lamat's story arc. I wasn't aware if the English/trans controversy until after beating the MSQ. She's a boring character and the expansion goes off the rails pretty early. Two years of talking to Wuk Lamat had to be grating with a voice performance like that.

i got kicked out of biggest lalafell community discord server cause exposing one cat being male and not female, also got kicked out of 1 hunts CWLS and also bardplayer discord, and yet that person who i exposed said all lalafells are pedos ^^

Also, Lalafell communities in FF14 are weirdos in general. So it says a lot about you trying to join a discord server dedicated to that community... they're the toxic fanbase within FF14.

Back when I used to play this game, there was a lalafell free company on Mateus that was called "KIDS". The free company house was themed like a daycare with pastel colors, and lalafells were running around wearing nothing but underwear as they RP'd being toddlers. Easily more horrifying than anything the devs came up with in Shadowbringers.

I had to lock my house because some lalas kept going into my basement for G-pose. I later found out that they were an age-play "RP guild". PC lalas are canonically pedos from my experience.

It's been my experience as well. There was one particular dude part of the aforementioned free company who was constantly irritating everyone in novice network. He couldn't stop reminding everyone how he was an orphan that had been adopted IRL, I think his character name was Orphaniel? I dunno, dude probably had a few terabytes of child porn on his computer.

The final trailer is the opening movie for the expansion at the start screen. They also showed off lots of in game stuff as well plus if you've seen the game you know how things will look.

The game got woke with the Shadowbringers expansion. Before that we had cool looking armor and costumes in the game. Then everything changed and they started to make armors and costumes shitty looking to prevent the evil male gaze. Now every time I get a new armor in the game I already know it will look lame ass.
I'm not sure aren't most costumes unisex now. You probably can play as a male character wearing women's clothes.

- FFXI came out in 2002 and not only are they still making content for that game but also they are still charging a subscription for it.
- FFXIV Evercold is the start of another 10 year saga
- Modern MMOs take an average of 6 - 8 years to make
Conclusion: They aren't letting go of FFXIV and you will be waiting until 2040 at minimum for a new FF MMO to come out.
We have only been to 2 out of the 6 remaining Reflections and on top of that we still haven't gone Mericidia so they got enough content to pump out 5 more expansions for this 10 year saga.

Completely unrelated, but they should have kept Haurchefant's original characterization from the Japanese version intact for A Realm Reborn. He was WoLsexual and it would have led to an incredible amount of comedy in the community. Dude straight up wanted to mount you like a steed, they accurately localized his characterization in one of the holiday events early in the game's life and it was hilarious.sry i had to use ram lil bit ^^

Im torn because I know that the game will look nowhere near as cool as these trailers. Any hope for meaningful game changes or mechanical complexity will be washed away as soon as I start playing. I'll finish the story, do the first extreme, then return to my regular routine of decorating my house once a week because nothing changed.

Excited for the removal of the 2 min meta design , jobs can finally have identity again with unique perks and will be excited to level them all up , I dreaded leveling in Dawn Trail with how stale it had gotten . Them making every job rotational functional by level 50 will also make lower level content bearable . Having Critical Engagement design and raids in the regular open world seams really cool and is actually something I've wanted since Bozja released. Evangelion and FF7 collabs brings me joy and takes me back to 1997 when I was an obsessed teenager over both of them. Dawn Trail was meh but the patch msq was decent and a good leadup into Evercold , very cool fringe science concepts !!! Switching dailies into weekly and having all jobs of proper level sync up to your highest IL is a much needed change .

I think they're going to see how Guild Wars 3 fares, since it's taking a big risk as a new AAA MMO in the 2020s, and then decide if they should follow suit if it succeeds.
Both GW and FF MMOs are on the same path, including content updates to the first while the second is still going strong.
I have a feeling they might try something mid-PS6 generation but we'll see if it's just another graphical overhaul to 14 or something more.

The game is literally getting chained down to the Switch 2 Hardware next month so I wouldn't get my hopes up for another major graphics update anymore

So for me, mid-PS6 generation will be around 2035, as I'm still calling it that PS6 won't release until closer to 2029/2030.
So I guess this all depends on if Nintendo decides to make Switch 2 a 10 year console.

Even the if Nintendo moves on to the "Switch 3" that wouldn't matter for FFXIV Square-Enix is still supporting PS4 in 8.0 (they are dropping PS4 support in 9.0).
The only thing that can push a major graphics update here is if there's a major adaptation of the Switch 3 (current slow Switch 2 adaption say that's unlikely) and if Square-Enix REALLY wants to drop Switch 2 support to do another Graphics overhaul.

I guess I just don't see 2040 as the minimum but 2035 instead.
Definitely nothing this decade though, unless FF17 turns out to be some sort of surprise MMO.

Personally I'm hoping FFXIX is the next MMO just so it can mess with people who are not good at reading roman numbers because of the closeness between FFXIV and FFXIX

I stopped watching the keynote when they hit the slide regarding open world changes and then basically went "yeah wait for Japan fan fest" which legitimately ticked me off since open world changes is arguably the largest upgrade they could possibly make for this game given the state it's been in for over a decade.

Yes it's confirmed they seem to want to give the normal open world areas this content instead of isolation the player base to a new secluded area to do this sort of content.
Not only would this give life to "dead" normal areas (they hinted at releasing this system for old areas too) but it would also free them from spending time/resources creating something like Occult Crescent areas and spend that energy creating content for something else/new.
