Rare Microsoft W, this is what I've been waiting for! Crimson Skies probably my favorite Xbox Original game, but plenty of others I'd like to see added over time (though I'm sure some won't because of licensing)

Original Xbox has Crazy Taxi 3, Forza Motorsport 1, Jet Set Radio Future, Mechassault 1-2, Otogi 1-2, Panzer Dragon Orta, Project Gotham Racing 1-2.

360 has Ace Combat 6, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Fable 2, Forza Horizon 1-2, Forza Motorsport 2-4, Gears 2-3, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1, Kameo, Project Gotham Racing 3-4, The Darkness, Viva Pinata.

There are already 60fps and 16:9 patches available for Conker, it'd just be a case of figuring out switching out the ISO to the patched one.

You read that wrong. William Judd said that the next titles to appear will likely be titles published by Microsoft. He hopes that titles never released for PC, such as Forza 1 and PGR, will appear, but he acknowledges that this would be quite difficult due to licensing issues with cars and music.

I don't even understand why Namco just refuses to acknowledge this games existence. Like if they won't remaster it, let Xbox make it BC. It would cost them I assume nothing or next to nothing to let them do it.

There's probably a licensing issue. Although the game features music by Chopin, which is in the public domain, the game versions were recorded by a Russian pianist (Stanislav Bunin). This version is copyrighted.

Namco could get around this by re-recording the music, but the original game sold around 400k copies, so there might not be much financial incentive to do that.

First thought I had was cool. The second thought I had is Helix is the transition to full PC. XBOX BC was one of the few remaining reasons to own an XBOX console over PC. It's over for XBOX console. @EverydayBeast can keep posting his free online jpg in threads because that has always been free on PC.

Its a hybrid console and PC. My guess is its "Xbox mode" is going to be less of an optimization thing like it is currently on PC, and more you can either boot the Helix into game mode, which it basically acts as a console, or boot into it Into windows.

I think its a fantastic idea. Best one Xbox has had since Xbox live.

Anybody even remotely disturbed by Playstation's latest actions should consider Helix. Youd have access to steam. Any PC launcher, and windows programs too. The value of thos would actually justify the price.

Yes. In the press release, it says games already owned from the digital store from Xbox will work on PC as well. Obviously, they have to make them compatible first.

This is pretty awesome! I'd love to play Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon on my PC.

I wonder if I should pick up an ROG Xbox Ally X before the price gets out of hand? $1000 is a great price in today's market.

Part of me wants to gamble with it being cheaper for Black Friday, but another part of me is like "dude, it'll cost $1200-1500 by Black Friday".

AFAIK only the base model has gone on sale so far. It's possible the release of a 7.4 OLED model may cause price pressures on the X due to it being it's 2nd holiday season. At some point they gotta run out of people willing to drop 1k for XAX and it will have to go on sale.

I'm sure next year 20CU model will be more expensive then 1kUSD. I'm waiting to see on what ASUS charges next year in part to determine the health of the PC handheld industry.

The game I want most is Splinter Cell Double Agent. Most people dont know that the Xbox/PS2 version is a completely different game than the one released on PS3/360/PC.

If you loved Chaos Theory, its a must play. For many, its far superior than the PS3/360/PC version.


EDIT: If the framerates are stuck at 30 then it is a hard pass from me.

It would be disengenous for anyone to argue that this is a good thing.

the best thing about this is that I already have a CRT hooked up to my PC, so hell yeah I am using it to play those titles, also just downloading Conker rn since it was available for my region kinda later than Crimson Skies

Just tried crimson skies, gave me some warning about not being on windows 11, but it worked fine, heck it worked great; was really a trip to see that xbox startup animation on my pc.

Conker however doesn't even give me the option to install, so dunno if that one is straight up blocked if you're not on w11

Of course now that decomp/recomps are becoming a real thing, emulation matters less and less.

Ok, well assuming it does, then it'd be a strong contender imo. If it doesn't and its strictly just an Xbox, and windows machine, it still will have way more value than a ps6, but yea I won't be buying it and a PC will still be better.

Conker just showed up on the German store, downloading it now.

first thing imma do is try looking through the installed files, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a locked down install like old Microsoft Store games or something like that.

edit:

that seems to be the encrypted iso file of the original game.

and here we have the Xenon Fusion (the emulator) executable (xbox executables are .xex files)

so this confirms that they are indeed using the same emulator as on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Series X|S

Just tried Conker from the xbox app Canada. It works, has my cloud save ready and everything. Shame about 30fps, I wonder if it's possible to double it with lossless scaling app.
