Wolverine - Ain't No Hero - New Trailer

They had a long time since Deadpool and Wolverine to fix any issues and that movies box office was pretty good incentive. I'm giving benefit of the doubt and expecting a good game.

The game still looks good to me, but not enough that I'm in day one.

I'll pick up at some point, but I'd rather get RE9, Pragmata or Crimson Desert on sale this fall instead.
I love Wolverine, but that's where I'm at too with this game. I have a feeling that I'll be better off waiting until it's half price and making sure it's not woketarded.

I'll have Halo CE, Phantom Blade 0, and Dawnwalker to keep me busy in the meantime.

PlayStation has a trailer like this for all of their major games. There's plenty of gameplay out there already for you to watch, and there'll be plenty more as we get closer to launch.

I love their CG pre-game release trailers like these. They tend to show the theme of the game to a wider audience.

Fuck the haters, this game is gonna go hard.

What part of anything have they shown so far to back that up, even the least. I'd love to know.

Speaking as someone who bought God of War Ragnarök and found it boring as fuck. Still never finished it. And this so far looks worse than that, by far.

Except this has the benefit of having characters I find more entertaining, I think anyway.

I'd love to be wrong, but I sincerely doubt there's writing or action even 1/2 as good as "Remember It" from '97 Season 1. That episode is something I'd call going hard, and I don't see anything like that at all happening here. But love to be wrong.

Just think Sony, I would have purchased a PS5 long ago and would have played most of your exclusives by now. But you ruined all of your games with modern audience BS. For everything about this game that looks cool, there is an equal amount of shit that looks like ass. I could take this game or leave it. And since I will not by a PS5, or 6, and this is not coming to PC, I guess I will get to enjoy the youtube videos making fun of it instead.

Xmen 97 is peak Marvel right now and Tokon looks great. Hoping this game can be good to cap a rare run of Marvel actually making stuff I like.

I agree that the character design is hurting across the board. Even Sabretooth looks pretty uninspired.

Gameplay is king for me though and the combat looks pretty fun.
We will probably get a Daredevil or Punisher reveal soon with the Hand being in the game.

Is this is what is considered "going hard"

A button appears above their head and then you press the one button amd wolverines claws clip through someone while bloops of blood comically spray about and the camera flip flops around.

Just curious, is this what is getting people excited for the game?

One button flippy floppy camera moments?

Blood excites me the lack of real gore in most games is just disappointing..i remember getting a GeForce 2 and playing soldier of fortune maxed an experience ill never forget 🥲

Also as a vr gamer I can use that same analogy to make fun of your favorite games...press x to reload?? Let me show ya something

Am I seeing things or does he have a type?

The whole aesthetic and identity of this game screams "Sony first party" to me, and not really in a good way. The cinematography, shaders and gameplay all feel very safe and familiar. Been there, done that. Everything looks muted and overly polished.

I grew up with the original X Men animated series, and that really defined Wolverine and the X Men for me. What I see in the screenshot above looks more like The Last of Us: Wolverine Edition in terms of art direction.

I don't like it. I do like that it seems gorier and more brutal, but they could have pushed it in a much more interesting direction. Something closer to MadWorld, or a mix of the colourful X Men animated aesthetic with the brutality of Ninja Gaiden.

Instead, we got this. A safe, edgy, mainstream action adventure product, much like the Spider Man games on PS4 and PS5.

Meh.

What do you expect? Do you want full VR with a Sony PowerGlove and do all the movements yourself?

Not sure why, but this game doesn't appeal to me at all and im a huge Marvel fan.
I wish everyone who likes what they shown about this game that it turns out great, but this does not seem to be for me.

do you think your the only person on gaf to have played VR?

your example also doesn't workout because you too can press a button in vr games, very few games in VR are 100% tactile, you will always press a button to do something, i guess you don't play VR as much as you thought you did to not know that..

and if all it takes to "go hard" is have blood then that really is the lowest bar of entry we have. We have sunken so low now that red stuff means good

what's this VR comparison, twice now?

either these are alt accounts or there's a dumb influencer video i have missed somewhere.

in your guys galaxy brains the two choices are basic one button game design and VR? there's nothing in between?

i think we all know your argument is disingenuous and it's not really tackling what i originally said.

but it really shows how far the bar has dropped for gaming and gamers, as long as theres some red splashys the game doesn't really need to do much, press x for red splashies sounds pretty boring to me.

In no moment I though you were talking about the developers (maybe I missed that part?).
In any case then, my sincere apologies.
Yes, sorry if it was misunderstood. I meant that if you, as a developer, have problems with calling them X-"Men", then this isn't a good property for them to develop and they should just stay away from it.

I'm playing on PC and I'm thrilled with the smoothness and graphics in both BF6 and Destiny 2.

But Wolverine is going to sell like hotcakes, no matter how much FUD against Sony is spreading on NeoGAF 24/7.

Its definitely weird vibes around the parts these days lol I remember when awesome looking games just got hype

Ugly character design is negligible for me. What I dont like to happen are forced and pushed for agendas like for example antifa agenda, pronouns, binary, pride agenda, trans, and rainbow flags which some of this had happened to spider man 2.

That's not FUD, it's criticism. I think everyone here knows that Wolverine is going to sell like hotcakes, even if he was wearing a pink tutu and his claws were rainbow-colored. He's one of the most popular Marvel characters and that combined with Sony's massive marketing guarantees sales in the millions, regardless of whether the game ends up being rated a 75 or a 90.

Hotcakes can mean many things, give some tangibles here, bro, will it sell better from crimson desert aka 6m copies sold in under 3 months full price? Over 10m, over 15m? Coz if u give actual numbers u can be held accountable xD

GAF downplaying Sony games is normal at this point. The contrary would surprise me. lol

I remember people here saying that Wolverine would be censored: no blood, no gore, etc. Then they revealed the gameplay, and people had to move the goalposts.

I'm sure the game will be great. No doubts about Insomniac.

Origins was fun it was a very much a 360 gen game gameplay wise it was actually better then I thought it'd be but yeah I expect insomniac to make the best wolverine game of all time
I think the main thing holding them back will be building it on top of the Spider-Man scaffolding. I've bought every Insomniac game until Miles Morales. A lot of what I read about SM2 is troubling though.

I don't think it will be bad, but the Raven game was built from the ground up as a Wolverine game. This is a bit of a reskin

Skin deep.

I too was awed by the first impression a year back, the promise of PS5 graphics, blood and gore. That paint has started peeling though. I find the look subpar myself now. Would vastly prefer something with more character, and something more respectful to the source material.

I am excited to see some visually nice motion captured animations, but that's about the end of my hopes for this game so far.

Why can't they put together a scene without gore that looks hype? Why do they constantly show new characters that look horrible. I guess at least the men look alright though. They didn't turn Omega Red into a pimple laden pencil pusher, and Wolverine isn't some pansy either. Still. Wake me up when there's something an X-Men fan would care for beyond gore.
