Official concept art for AVENGERS DOOMSDAY

Crazy how Disney was able to F up such a gold mine. They have lost so much goodwill and really need this to be a hit. Think it will make a ton of money, but we shall see.

My guess on worldwide box office is $1.4B low-end, $1.9B high. The highest-grossing MCU movie in the past five years was Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 with $1.9B. Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024 made $1.3B.

I use my gut as a bellwether for MCU movie performance, since I'm a casual fan (and an expert), and my interest in this is about on par with those two movies.

I agree with the sausage fest comment. But I never really like any of the females they had besides all the female actors in guardians of the galaxy series.

Man, they better hope people are desperate to see Fox X-men return for the 10th time and a plain clothes Captain America because that is not a poster of heavy hitters at all.

Oh look, Pedro Pascal is there to spoil any concept art you can imagine with his "masculine" femininity presence.
I also like they are literally spoiling Captain America there.

Im kinda surprised they allowed Doom to wear a mask in the poster instead of just putting RDR in there. Since "look at the actors we brought back" seems to be the only thing this movie has going for it.

I'd be genuinely shocked if there ends up being less RDJ in the marketing for this than there was for the Marvels. I'm expecting full on desperation mode.

She was crazy hot in that Dr Strange movie and the only reason I kept watching that turd.

Without her and Scarlett Johansson the MCU has zero hotties at the moment. Crazy.
Imagine if the woke era and the "modern audiences" excuse never existed. I wonder what glorious things our eyes would have beheld.

Is there a reason why Captain America isn't suited up? and where is Guardians of the Galaxy?

You could remove 80% of that cast and no one would give a shit.
They can't put him the costume without pissing off the crazies on bluesky, resetera, etc. Since Falcon is the "real" Captain America now.

Oh for fucks sake. They deserve to fail at this point.

They spent ungodly amounts of money to get RDJ and Captain America back, and one is covered up with a mask and the other is not suiting up.

Judging by the poster, even the folks at Marvel don't see any promise in this movie. And when I look at the characters in it, there are very few of them I'm interested in.

They gave the Russos cards with each character and the actors price on it, some actors were acting against a ping pong ball because they hadn't yet decided WHO the character was actually talking to. How can this POSSIBLY be a good script? It's gonna be a hodge podge mess of disparate scenes hammered together, mark my words.

So if RDJ is Dr Doom, who plays Iron Man if he shows up in the movie?

Weird thing to do considering it's the same comic universe and cast.

Imagine if a new Batman movie came out and suddenly one of the villains is played by Keaton, Bale or Pattison.

Manabyte is no longer around to fight us on this, but it seems 100000000% obvious that Doom as "evil Tony from another dimension" is gonna be the big hook in this new phase and Tonys daughter will likely be the key to defeating and/or flipping him.

The concept art poster is AWESOME!

If these new Avengers movies are anything like Jonathan Hickman Secret Wars Marvel Comic Event, it's gonna to be awesome

I admit I only read the main series for that event and a couple of tie ins but the lead up to Secret Wars 2015 and Secret Wars 2015 is what I'm eventually gonna to go back and read. This time I want to read everything that leads up to that event and when I get to that event, read all the stuff I missed

People probably worked this out years ago, but it only just clicked for me when seeing where Loki is positioned on the concept art. Given where we last saw him he is likely going to be the orchestrator in bringing all the heroes together from their dying universes.

For anyone entering this thread, the takes on page 1 that everyone has made are the exact same takes that they have made in every single marvel thread. Like enough to make a bingo card out of.

Also, Shang-Chi being oddly way over on the right by himself means that someone is potentially missing from that art. It's too large of a gap in space.

It isn't that strange, the MCU output has been DECIDEDLY subpar post-endgame, and even high points like GOTG3 or Spiderman NWH are what, 5 years in the past? None of the other films have done much to inspire a lot of enthusiasm for what's coming, The Deadpool films are just poking fun at the bloating corpse. We'll see if Spidey 4 can gets the drums beating, because Cap4, Thunderbolts, and FFF certainly have not (IMHO).

It's a supremely low effort poster, I wouldn't read much into a slight gap :P

Well no, it's not strange lol, because no other company has done this before MCU, so this is society's first collective time experiencing an ongoing multi-decade narrative within the same universe with no actual long breaks between films (like Star Wars).

We're seeing the highs and seeing the lows of such an endeavor. And we're seeing where they'll end up and where they might eventually stop.

This movie could be good or bad, and I'll be there to congratulate it or criticize it depending on where it ends up.

I guess I'm just not the type to repeat the same 10 talking points while I'm on the journey. It's like being in a car yelling 'are we there yet?' every 5 miles.

Yeah, and when the car has veered off the road and is bouncing through trees and into ditches, asking it seems a little appropriate, no? It's been a ROUGH...6 years? or so for the MCU. Disasters all across TV and film. You can FEEL the energy difference between now and 2014-2016, so for them to drop 350+ mill on this memberberry loaded hail mary....folks are pretty justified in mocking it a bit. Hopefully the MCU has noted all the flack they've gotten in the past 5 years and will course correct. The poster seems like they may have, after all it's got all the pre-2020 folks in the most prominent positions other than Reed. This flick is the very embodiment of desperation, probably HALF the budget is just salary!

The biggest thing that has been intriguing to me has been the 'MCU is back' followed by 'MCU is dead' followed by 'MCU is back' pingpong of emotion that the community at large is continuously going through after every movie (not GAF though this commnuity has stayed consistently 'MCU is bad' regardless)

And the most fascinating part of that is that people suddenly, collectively forget all of the good content post-Endgame once they're in the 'MCU is dead' mindset after watching a bad movie even if they just happened to watch a good one months prior.

And even more interesting is that is the fact that the fans weren't doing this before Infinity War/Endgame, even though there was 100% a pingpong of quality happening between movie entries beforehand.
