FIFA World Cup 2026 - It's Called Football, Not Soccer!

Fans of any sport in the US hate the asterisk. No NBA fans count the covid NBA championship as legit. If you're team is playing in the finals, and the team you beat is missing their best, that genuinely takes the some shine off the victory here.

We want to win, it seems like Euros just care about advancing.
What does this mean? do you want red cards to be annulled at will so the best team is always ready?

It's a part of the game, if you play like a fool, you have to sit out. This isen't NBA, in football, people are kicking each other, and if they didn't get red cards for stamping, players would stamp each other left and right.

What frustrates people, is that no other team would get these benefits you are getting. Everyone knows FIFA is playing favorites.

I'm just telling you like it is, you don't like because you support the corruption.

Everyone was giving the beans to the US for being especially favored by FIFA or something. Glad to see that's completely off the table now and we're back to garden variety FIFA corruption effecting every team fan and player equally in the long run.

I understand hydration break when its hot. The other day it was 23 degrees celsius and they still had a "hydration break"

If you lot called them ad break it would've been much better

The red card never should have happened in the first place if they followed their own rules. They corrected a mistake.

I've said it before but I find it funny that people are worried about protecting the integrity of a sport where this happens every few minutes:

Nobody is going to "refuse to play" in a WC knockout match. Everyone is doing whatever they can to win. So yes, absurd.
regardless of anything else that was clearly a red card. The players weren't even disputing it at the time after slow motion replays.

What's all this then?
A different situation outside the world cup that didn't involve Trump.

Frankly, he shouldn't have gotten that reversed at all. It was more FIFA bullshit, they gave him his retirement run.

But he didn't stamp a player in the cup, and if he did, he would not come back like balogun.

Edit: And it's important to note that the Ronaldo thing happened last year.

No one's getting referee decisions reversed by head of FIFA.

True. Also when's the last time someone got sent off in a World Cup knockout match for a genuinely debatable football play? Those reds are usually flung (again during Knock out matches) for someone who watched wrestling or a Kung Fu flick before the game. :messenger_beaming: I don't think the USA needs Balogun to win (they were down a man and still scored), so whether the ban got overturned doesn't matter to me. My issue is with people pretending this was just another routine red card like it's the gaslighting Olympics.

The call was just as odd as it's reversal.
