FIFA World Cup 2026 - It's Called Football, Not Soccer!

It's the double bluff, you telegraph which way you are shooting in the hopes that the keeper thinks it's too obvious and so goes the other way.

Nah, Neymar did that his entire career and has one of the best goals %.

It's the famous mid mid.
Middle (right) side
Middle height.
It's the easiest penalty for the keeper to catch.

I think Clay might have misunderstood this.

VAR absolutely can be used for red cards. In fact, direct red card incidents are one of the core match changing situations that VAR is legally allowed to review.

Giving a red card after a VAR review is completely legal and actively encouraged under FIFA and IFAB rules.

From what I understand is that article 27 was used to suspend the mandatory one game ban, but not wipe it completely from record.

No, they're not arguing the use of VAR for red cards. VAR's protocol states you shouldn't look at normal challenges like the one that got Balogun a red card in slow motion, but it should be used for point of contact in a serious foul play challenge. Which they actually have a case for.

Norway is such a weird team, they have some top-tier players, some big guys, but at heart they are a rough team that can make massive blunders. Brazil will take advantage of those blunders.

"Exclusive: The White House made a direct call to FIFA to ask Gianni Infantino to review Folarin Balogun's red card.FIFA approached for comment and referred to the findings of its independent committee.FIFA sources insist White House influence could not affect the decision due to the powers contained in Article 27 and the independent nature of the disciplinary panel."

It was a harsh red card in the first place, and should never have been given. But this is a bit of a joke tbf, when USA didn't even appeal the ban, but the President makes a phone call? How easily influenced are FIFA?

Wait, this is true? I thought it was a joke, but Ben Jacobs has posted it? Jeez, yeh, sure FIFA, daddy Trump didn't sway the decision

Bout 50. Which was more corrupt exactly. Not only the abysmal refereeing but the iran situation. This red card situation. The "hydration" breaks etc etc.
Agree on the hydration AND also coincidentally agree with maybe not the best refs. I was referring to bigger ticket things but I sound more in agreeance based on your statement.

Norway should be quicker and more daring when attacking. Brazil has no problem going 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3 while attacking. Norway, for some reason, insists on waiting and reorganizing when they should just run and make an attempt. I think this is the wrong strategy against this Brazil.

Bro, Argentina bought an entire team to take a beating in 78, right under FIFA's nose.

Anyway, Brasil is solid on defense and very fast on the counters. I'm liking what I'm seeing.

It's because Odegard is so slow on the ball and takes forever to make a pass.

Norwegians when they get the opportunity to make an offensive:

This is the biggest match for most of that team, the gameplan is mostly just to hit the ball in the direction of Haaland.

They are doing one thing well though, they are playing slow and boring, which enables them to control the pace and keep the ball.
