FIFA World Cup 2026 - It's Called Football, Not Soccer!

Flops and fouls. Poor play. What an ugly match.

To be honest though, I am surprised we made it to the 16 group. Canada did well for basically no good players on their team. But I do know that Soccer in Canada will get better after all this. Same for the US.

What, defend, defend, defend?

(It's maybe the right tactic but France are very good at breaking teams down so I doubt they can do it for 90 mins)
I expect that. I would like a good game. I wouldn't mind something like we saw yesterday and not some 4-0 result.

There's no way Paraguay will hold 120 minutes of this pressure

France's goal is imminent. Hopefuly Paraguay will also score from a silly mistake or something.

Yeah, he's not letting the play go on sometimes when it needs to. Paraguay won that ball and he called a foul. Then he lets Mbappe get slapped on the hand and Mbappe nearly dies and calls no foul.

The French team give off some pompous vibes. They are the clear favorite and the ref is not officiating very well on both sides. Good on Paraguay for making the elite and untouchable French dip squad work.

You can hate us, but the truth is that the Paraguayan team plays a very ugly game. Many things should have been called and yes, a direct contact like they did on Mbappe is a red card offense. Or when he holds his jersey etc etc...

These are deliberate actions, often behind the player's back and it's at the very least a yellow card . Especially with a hand on the arm. It's unsportsmanlike conduct.

I'll partially agree. Sometimes a game needs to be a little more physical. And it's the futbol you're maybe used to. The rest of the world plays different. I like the different styles for what they represent.

I agree, I appreciate English football for that very reason. But this is unacceptable, it's simply awful and it's clear that Paraguay should have been sanctioned.

How did France not get a red card for the player doing a backflip so he can stomp on the Paraguay goalies leg?

Absolute joke of a game, France is fouling left and right nothing gets called.
