Spider-Noir | Authentic Black & White Teaser Trailer

I was so afraid that they would do one thing in the end, and so glad they didn't.
When the big black guy gets cured. (Couldn't tell who he was suppose to be, tombstone? And he walks out and intends to live quietly somewhere. I was so afraid that he would get ambushed and killed in an alley right after, but hey, he actually manages to leave safe.

Watching this now and only four episodes in. So far this is pretty good. Watching it in black in white over colour is preferred. I wasn't sure what to expect from Spider-Noir when I turned in, for some reason I thought it was going to be a CG animated series (it kind of is, as it does have a lot of CG).

I wasn't expecting the show to be a 1930's hot take on Spider-Man with Nicolas Cage as the lead star. he plays a character named Ben Reilly (also the name of the Scarlet Spider... if anyone remembers the Scarlet Spider from the clone saga?...) who is a 1930's freelance gumshoe detective who also has spider-man's powers. But in this he calls himself 'The Spider' and was retired from being the Spider because he grew out of it and took a more traditional roll of being a detective.

I'm not sure if this is based on a comic, or an original idea someone at Sony Pictures had. This is a fascinating take on Spider-Man. Nicolas Cage steals the entire show, which should dome as no surprise. But he is playing a very straight arrow character. Like he is really trying to get into the 1930's noir viibe.

He also appeared in Shattered Dimensions 2010 game on PS3 and 360.

Nic Cage is dialed in and all in for the ride. The supporting cast is also very strong.

I am not saying that the supporting cast is bad, they are all fine. But Nic Cage really dominates the show, which is not a surprise at all.

I haven't seen In The Spider-verse to be honest. I guess Nicolas Cage did voice work in that too? When it comes to Spider-Man I fell off that wagon a long time ago and really wasn't aware of Spider-Noir.

Yeah Cage is in that too but I'm not sure it 100% fits in the same continuity with this series. The character feels different. I do recommend watching both movies after this.

OK. Honestly, I am not sure why I skipped out on watching into the Spider-verse for this long. Again, I feel kind of burned out by Superhero related shows. I guess Nicolas Cage is playing Peter Parker in that. But in this live action series, he is playing Ben Reilly. I was in the age where the whole Spider-Man clone saga was such a big deal and also heavily lauded for being convoluted, that I half expected Ben Reilly in this series to be revealed as a secret clone. But I am not at the final episode. I am at episode 6... I want to pace this out so I won't binge watch it. So I watch two at a time. I guess in this continuity, he changes his name from Peter Parker to Ben Reilly after fighting in World War 1? I guess logistically, it is to work around the Marvel restrictions of Peter Parker. No drinking, no smoking, etc.

I will say this, if season two goes forward... get Sam Raimi to direct one episode. I look at Sam Raimi's three stooges/ practical effects/ reverse filming style and wild camera angles and think how it would work pretty well here.

I think I would give this an 8/10.
