So... I'm watching the WNBA...

And I'm enjoying it! I didn't think I would but since I started watching at the start of this season, I've found myself becoming a fan of several players and teams.

Azzi Fudd is doing great (I watched her play for UConn last year) and Minnesota has been solid.

Am I the only one man enough to admit watching?

I just watch clips of bitches messing with that Caitlyn chick and her teammates (sometimes) helping her out.

WAAAAAAY more fun than any ball play.
 
Sorry man, can't get into WNBA. I tried to watch a game once and got bored to tears. Even the ladies won't watch it.

Definitely prefer boxing, MMA, or other martial arts competitions. Watching dudes beat the shit out of each other in a controlled environment will never get boring for me.

I like stuff like the PWHL but I can't tolerate the NBA anymore let alone the complete trainwreck the WNBA seems to be.
 
The only time I remember WNBA stuff was when the guy that was pretending to be asleep in the stands had his 15 mins of fame, and the guy that kept throwing dildos on the court until he got caught.

I find it kinda boring, but I don't like modern NBA much either. I miss 90's basketball.
 
I crack up when i see reports of players chokeslamming Clark into the ground and shit. sounds like the wnba is more physical than the NBA.
i only watched the last game of the championship, and it was the most soft basketball game i ever seen. just passing and shooting, barely nay drives or running. fouls get called for breathing too close to eachother

That's because these no talent hacks know that the ONLY time they get ANY press is when it's for interacting with Caitlyn. And since they can't out play her, all they can do is rough her up and hope for their 5 seconds of notoriety.

Different game tonight between Dallas and Connecticut. Flagrant fouls (hits to the face and neck), driving and running... It was VERY physical!
 
I have a hot take. But I do feel it is true.


Most games of the wnba, it "feels like" the women are trying harder than their NBA counterparts.


Edit: Because of the physicality, it seems like wnba is like 1990's and and early 2000's style NBA.

I have been watching for a few years now. I do not follow religiously or anything but if I see a game on, I will watch. Sophie Cunningham makes it worth watching. ❤️

I went to a game, enjoyed it, there was a great atmosphere in the crowd. There was one guy a couple rows in front of me yelling over the din of the crowd at the players on his team by their first names like he was their dad cheering them on at a high school game, I found it quite charming.

I actually don't agree with that at all. In the Indiana Fever games I've seen, Caitlin (or however you spell it) has been outplayed, missed numerous goals and hasn't been been knocked down or anything. She may be the golden girl in all the commercials right now but she's not the most popular. A'ja Wilson is.

I actually don't like basketball and don't follow it, so all I get are these fight clips, every now and then some kid who nails a long shot at the buzzer or something. I'll take your word for it.

I detest it.

And it has NOTHING to do with the fact that I have severe short-sightedness in just one eye that was long undiagnosed, thus I grew up with essentially zero depth perception at distance, thus couldn't judge the hoop and make baskets worth a fucking damn. Absolutely no connection :P
 
Nah. I tried giving it a chance. Boring as it gets for me.

It's better pitched as trash reality tv than a sport worth watching imo. Literally just a bunch of ungrateful jealous chicks all mad that a different chick gets the attention. It becomes a real train wreck when you remember the ungrateful cranks were making peanuts before the chick they hate on showed up. Basically just a bunch of chicks bitching about the breadwinner while still taking as much money as possible because of the breadwinner. Like an entire league of bitchy ungrateful stay at home housewives that hate their provider but still, want his paycheck.

Till this day, that "league" has never turned a profit, let alone broke even. 30+ years of operating in the red for the NBAs welfare loophole laundering program.

I do think the nba gets value back because the more girls interested as kids the more women will watch the nba as adults. How much value in relation to return on investment I don't know though.

But man, the way the players were demanding more money last year!! Pay us what you owe us or some nonsense. Lady you make negative dollars for your company. Literally. It's like their part of an entirely different species from those who value logic and actually being worth what you actually produce to a company,

I guess supporting a women's league gives the NBA good optics for their advertisers?

Future customers - women / girls do love basketball. Keep everyone involved and it increases interest in nba too.
 
I've tried, but I can't help but view it through the lens of the men's game and realize how much it just pales in comparison. I mean, you could take an exceptional 8th grade boy and he would absolutely dominate the WNBA and shatter all league records. It's hard to watch with that in mind and be appreciative of what you're seeing. I know the same can be said about other sports, but basketball is so rooted in athleticism and it's so tied into the enjoyability of it (for me, at least), that it becomes so obviously detrimental when it's stripped away.
 
Tough to watch WNBA or women's hockey. As for women's basketball it can be rough with lots of wild and wacky shots. Hockey is different. It's the opposite. Not rough and hardly any wild shots as most cant shoot from distance anyway. Few ladies have a slap shot.

If you think that's bad watch women's hockey.

The ladies in net dont have the speed or power to handle wearing goalie pads while making saves, doing lateral moves or getting up when sprawled on the ice. So a lot of goals look really weird, sloppy or slow mo shots that still go in.
