Yup same but gotta say so far the showings they have done have not been so great.. what happen to the games color? expect color and vibrancy in splatoon games.. hoped it had full voice acting but sadly doesnt look like it. The game will be awesome regardless, just did a review of Splatoon 3 on our channel but ye the trailers have not been great. Feel they did the same with Metroid Prime 4, most of the showings were not great. They need someone over there who knows how to edit a hype trailer. Regardless hyped to get it, but the color palette has not looked as good as expected, its on islands.. with hdr and 4k 60fps it should be popping off the screen. Lets see. I do hope there is an actual proper story vs just more collecting. This game is supposed to be the proper story mode the series deserves.

I'm hoping this sells me more on the game, I like the idea of a single player Splatoon but the trailers and gameplay from it so far have been a little dull. What looks to be a single-player expanded Salmon Run, basically, which isn't terribly exciting.

Your comment did make me chuckle a bit, this would be one of the few series where I'm not really sure voice acting would add anything. Listening to squid-language nonsense while still needing to read all dialog would seem like a silly additional expense for not much gain.

I and several others have pointed out many times already, this is absolutely a Switch1 DLC expansion for Splatoon 3 that they decided to turn into a standalone title. I'm buying it don't get me wrong, as Splatoon is still fantastic at its core and always manages to be a good time. It's just disappointing to see a Switch 2 exclusive still looking mostly like the original 11 year old Wii U game.

A lot of Nintendo games in general seem to all follow that same theme: Disappointing but still really fun.

I'd be interested in this one for the co-op focus, and budget price, but A. it's releasing at a terribly busy time for me and B. my main co-op partner doesn't want a Switch 2 until they release a Lite. -_-

Seems like a someday purchase at this point, but I'll definitely check out the Direct.

Microsoft and 343i killed Halo. They are the one solely responsible for it.

Love Splatoon 1-3, but I'm not sold on this at all.. I think I would've liked a much bigger focus on platforming and puzzles rather than crafting and combat/survival.

Hopefully they show something here that grabs my attention, otherwise I'll skip it and just wait for Splatoon 4.

Praying this include DLC for Mario Kart World and bring the squid kids back to Mario Kart because I can see this game being nothing more than a side mode from the main Splatoon games.

never played any of these but thinking of getting this, how is it solo?

Looks good, it's essentially the salmon mode single player game. More of the same, not a bad thing as it's fun to shoot enemies.

It has local and Online Co-op too. Phantasy Splatoon Online is here.

Looks great. And looks like there might be a 100 floor gauntlet too.

I winder if you can randomly go on 4 people missions like Salmon Run. That can be cool.

It does look meaty. And i like the setting. Its colorful yet bleak.

Some companies are looking for cinematics and over blown budgets. And Nintendo is basically giving quality content and reasonable prices.

I've enjoyed the singleplayer modes of all three quite a bit. Some great DLC to boot, specifically the Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2. I didn't really like the roguelike DLC they did for Splatoon 3.

For better or worse Raiders doesn't really look very similar to the main games, so I don't know what to expect. Seems more similar to the Salmon Run (horde) mode than anything else - which is fun but nothing I'd like to play as an expanded singleplayer experience personally.

Oh man watching the Treehouse gameplay things get crazy you got plenty of hordes of enemies coming in like popcorn. Looks so fun.

Salmon Run itself has always been a 4 player co-op mode so this is likely to be quite chaotic. SP modes in the main games have been good but the DLC they put out seem to be where they really let loose and are seen as high quality.

then this game isn't for you and making shit up to push a narrative isn't needed.
Nothing like that at all, I hope they sell fucking millions, Just didn't look like much was on show meanwhile people saying it's looking content rich so I'm just a bit confused. After seeing MKW kinda lack from what 8 was offering It just a bit concerning.

Loved the mode in Splat 2 but never bothered picking up 3.

But they literally showed how content rich the game is. You are free to view it however you want. You do you, dawg.

I think you may be falling for the psychological trap of "it's not a full price game so it's not a full game."

I think this game is an interesting case study.

Seems to have a ton of gameplay depth, lots and lots of content, doesn't cost too much but the graphics are kind of shit, basically slightly better Switch 1 tier which means between gen 7 and gen 8. I think the industry would be much healthier if games like that were more common but somehow I doubt that's what gaymers at large want.

Yeah. The sheer gameplay in this game is pretty bonkers. Lots of stuff going on at once. I am pretty impressed.

I assume it has bosses like the previous single player games.

might grab one of the old ones then!

The narration was cringe, but the game looks good, there's even a pixel art arcade in there.

Raid the dehumanized salmonids, steal their shit and their babies to literally fuel your war machine.
It's like low hanging fruit for YTbers to discuss how problematic it is, how it's a metaphor for colonization.

They always do that weird, childlike woman narration like we are all babies or something.

Basically Splatoon + Monster Hunter, this game is going to explode in Japan.

I hope a can talk my co-op buddy into getting this.

I was a little put off initially because of the "It's single player Splatoon" because every Splatoon as had an enjoyable single player campaign, but the direct sold me.

Nintendo always tries to be way too wholesome with the narration. They really need to knock that off.

They try to be squeaky clean almost to the point of being insulting.

In this single-player-focused action shooter, you play as a mechanic working with Deep Cut—a trio of swashbuckling musicians named Shiver, Frye and Big Man—and venture out into the mysterious Spirhalite Islands in search of treasure. Customize your character, kit yourself out with ink-splattering weapons and mechanical gadgets, and take on waves of enemy Salmonids as you raid the islands for loot. A member of Deep Cut will even join you in a powerful Exploration Bot, which can help detect treasure among other useful functions. Gear up aboard the hideout ship, and head out to uncover the mysteries of the islands as you search out its undiscovered spoils.

Read on for more details from today's presentation:

  • Treasure Hunting – The Spirhalite Islands feature varied terrain and environments, teeming with challenges, enemies and treasure. There are areas with Spirhalite crystals to mine, dens swarming with aggressive creatures called Salmonids, strange facilities where only certain equipment is allowed and dungeons in which you'll dig deeper underground.
  • Salmonid Enemies– To reach the loot, you'll have to get through these ferocious foes first. They lurk across the islands, crowd around treasure and attack anything that gets too close. There are many different types, including:
    • Lesser Salmonids – These enemies aren't much of a threat on their own, but they attack in hordes that can overwhelm you if you're not careful.
    • Boss Salmonids – These creatures present a beefier challenge, with their own strengths and weaknesses to uncover. Defeat Boss Salmonids, and they'll drop a Mega Power Egg – a great energy source for the Bot.
    • Seasoned Salmonids – These tough foes are the peak of Salmonid evolution! They are like Boss Salmonids but they're well-seasoned (with salt), and it seems like the saltier the Salmonid the tougher they are to overcome. Good thing you'll have the mechanic's tools of the trade at your disposal, including lots of weapons and gadgets to secure your treasures.
  • Weapons – Weapons spray ink from your refillable tank and are essential for defeating Salmonids. With more than 100 weapon variations to discover, you're bound to find something to roll with. Salmonids might drop a weapon when they're defeated, and you might even find some rare weapons with special powers, too.
  • Tanks and Gadgets– There are three types of tanks at your disposal: The Speed Tank, Power Tank and Tactical Tank. Each tank can be equipped with two gadgets to start, and the gadgets you can equip depend on the tank.
    • Speed – Move quickly, fight fast and evade attacks with this tank. Gadgets include Blast Boot to leap forward and attack (or retreat) at high speed, Dash Bomb to launch forward, sideways or backward with a bomb explosion, and the Booyarang to throw and strike enemies – it'll also stay airborne for a bit before returning to you.
    • Power – Overpower enemies and tackle swarms head-on with this tank. Charge into battle with gadgets like the Splatchet to perform a quick slash in a wide-sweeping arc and break through tough shields; Splatellites that spin around you and attack with ink while coating the ground; and the Spinwheel, which swirls and sprays ink as you move forward, pushing back Salmonids that touch it and locking on to Boss Salmonids.
    • Tactical – Fight more strategically with this tank! Gadgets suited for tactical play include the Shot Pot, a deployable turret, which can automatically attack enemies, Bombloons which can be linked together to create a big blast when you fire at them, and the Tether Wail, which connects to your tank with a powerful laser.
  • Customize and Build – The true value of your gadgets comes from how you customize them. Collect gadget parts during island excursions and add them to available slots to upgrade your gadgets in several ways, like increased damage, fire rate, duration, or adding effects like ink explosions or knockback gas, and more. Plus, Shiver can help you craft new gadgets in the Gadget Workshop, Frye can assist with upgrading weapons or turning them into materials in the Weapon Stash, and Big Man will lend a fin by cataloging all sorts of useful info and more. Build facilities that can be used to further optimize your treasure-hunting toolkit.
  • Levelling Up – There are plenty of ways to get stronger in Splatoon Raiders. You'll level up by defeating Salmonids and you get to keep any weapons and salvage you find, even if you're defeated during a raid. Use the spoils from your hunt to upgrade your tanks at the Mechanic's Shack and increase stats like attack power and HP. Tanks also gain other enhancements the more you use them, like being able to equip three gadgets instead of two.
  • Additional Features– Here are a few more features covered in the presentation:
    • Outfits – No matter where adventure takes you, looking stylish is essential. Complete challenges across the islands and you'll obtain slick outfits with all sorts of designs. If you tap compatible amiibo figures from the Splatoon series, you can get a unique outfit. And by tapping the new Splatoon Raiders amiibo figures, you can unlock a corresponding outfit inspired by the figure used.
    • Difficulty Options – There are three difficulties to choose from: Tourist for a casual adventure, Raider for a standard experience, and Survivalist for veterans and challenge-seekers. You can change these options at any time on the hideout ship. The loot will be the same for each, but Salmonids will be a lot tougher on higher difficulties.
Multiplayer – This game can be fully enjoyed solo, but you can also team with up to three other players online or via local wireless to hunt for treasure and progress through the story together.
    • Call for Help – Even when playing solo, you can request help from other players online for temporary aid. Once you've requested help and finished a raid, you'll have to wait to use this feature again. Or lend a helping tentacle to answer someone else's request and receive rewards in turn.
    • Salmonid Relics – These Salmonid treasures are hidden around the Spirhalite Islands. Find them to discover their strange, hidden powers.
There are many unknown locales around the Spirhalite Islands, including deep underground, and some of them appear to be bottomless. Gear up for a fresh adventure and get your tentacles on treasure galore.
