[AppleTV] Widow's Bay - New Horror Show

The Patrica parts made me laugh out loud far more than anything else I've watched in years. The taser part later on OMFG.

ep4 is the best of the best
I was like "well this is a nice and fun episode" expecting there to be some sort of embarrassment for Patricia in the end. And then I was hit with the audience in the mirror scene and things went into overdrive. 🫪

Widows bay feels like Atlanta with a horror soundtrack subbed in for the hip hop. Both shows share the same sense of unease and humor.

Well, I finished this series on the weekend and it kind of ended a fair bit weaker than it started.

I get the idea of leaving space for a second season but still…

Watched two episodes.

Won't ruin anything, but the hotel situation and meeting that dude. Then hitting the crawl space and what happened made this good ole boy back up in bed just a tad.

Pretty good so far.

Yeah, that was a good bit.

mild nonspecific spoilers sadly this show has whack stuff like that and then in the next episode its kinda just forgotten or brushed under the rug. It never really hits the right balance of episodic "well, that just happened" and serialized "we are learning how to deal with this island" vibe. Instead it's more like The X-files but scully directly sees more strange stuff but insists on ignoring it which just hurts the mayor character as he never really comes round to be more like Wyck (who is the Mulder of the x-files comparison)

Wyck is my guy!

Now have to put on X-files starting at episode one.

I enjoyed this! It touches greatness a few times, but found the majority of the eps to be a solid time.

fav ep: the punch bowl
least fav ep: the colonial ep "Our History"
biggest laugh: shotgun montage

I hope S2 gives more of the spotlight to the townspeople, esp Dale. Jeff Hiller is fantastic and I'd love to spend more time with him and learn about his character.

What I loved about this show is all the little nods it gives to notable horror movie franchises. There are several littered throughout. The creepiest may have been the scene that felt inspired by It(Pennywise).

This show starts off pretty slow and really isnt clear what it is or what it's trying to be. But man it really picks up and the pieces come together really nicely, even if the ending was somewhat obvious.

Big fan of Rhys from the Americans, he was also really good in the short lived Perry Mason show. Fantastic actor.

This was alright but nothing special imo.

The ending felt especially rushed.

But I can understand in a sea of shit how this might be a gem though.

I hope they don't make it feel as rushed in season 2. I also hope that the tourism angle has more of an impact in future episodes (I want to see them getting redshirted).

I feel a bit sad that many will prob stop this show early before it really picks up the pace a few episodes in. Apple's trailer def made it seem more like a straight up horror show more than a dark comedy.

I nearly skipped it because I thought it would be one of those horror comedy shows with very little horror. But I was sold right from the start thanks to the main character and supporting cast. Stephen Root cracked me up instantly. But the show really became a favourite in episode four with Patricia's party.

Two biggest issues with the show (imo) was with how unlikable the main character was in e1 and how unlikable he was in the finale.

That, and there were a few scenes that were so unrealistic it was upsetting.

Oh hearing the word f*ck 30 times an episode isn't additive.
