I unfortunately got put into the reservation queue…

The reservation queue I think covers the machines currently in stock. My husband got put on the waitlist (which he's going to drop), so he has to wait for other reservations to drop or for more machines to become available. You should receive an email within the next 3 days with the option to order. At least that's how I understand it.

I got my email, said I was accepted for the 512GB model with controller but I'm so far back in line that I'm going to miss out on this run unless somebody cancels their reservation or lets it expire. I'll probably just move my 4TB NVME drive over from my laptop to the Steam Machine and call it a day.

I put in for 512 no controller, and both 2tb models.

I got an email for the 512, so looks like I missed on the 2tb, which is what I was hoping for, but in all honesty, the 512 model is much much easier to swallow.
Is the sd card storage fast enough for upgrades, or will I have to pull this apart to upgrade the ssd? Is there a slot for another ssd?

If SD is fast enough now that's probably fine.

Unfortunate because you don't want it? The reservation queue means you've got one if you want it.
Waitlist means you're back in holding until the next draw.

512GB, no controller, but I'm just happy I'll be able to snag a machine!! Gonna put an order in for the controller separately. Hopefully it won't take me until September 2027 for one to come through, but I can wait on that.

I'm unsure if I should buy a 1TB drive now, or just fuck it and deal with the 512 or use the sd and external ssd.

I'm not sure I feel comfortable 1) swapping it myself or 2) spending MORE money.

even though I already had these games on Steam I would take that offer if it had the half-life remake and The Orange Box along with Half-Life 3.
