The engineering on this device is actually pretty impressive.

Reviewers were impressed by the form factor and how it virtually produced no sound at all.

That HDMI-CEC and Steam Controller integration to wake it up sealed the deal for me. I want that ease of use in my setup!

I think that's what people are missing is the small Formfactor from off the shelve. It's a lot but look at minipcs vs this. Sadly just it's all more expensive.

Fair enough. I know I can make a few adjustments, i went with petite because it would go under my tv

I originally chose the 2TB w/controller, but then I was like "wait a minute, that's only one randomly assigned number..."

Choosing all 4 at least gives me a better chance at getting something.

Luckily, I have a Steam Controller for my main PC and can always get another one later. It's also super easy to upgrade the SSD and install SteamOS.

They did also mention that they would be going through the lists and making sure that people weren't violating the "one per household" rule and double-checking everyone's eligibility.

I wonder what will happen if everyone that do NOT play kernel-level-spyware games, switch to SteamOS over Windows... Would it affect those games to in the end...
 
Wish they shipped to my country would have bought one asap. Cant buy any hardware from valve directly. "Official" retailers sell them for a 2x markup later. shit sucks.
 
I got excited, email from steam late last night saying please complete your purchase and when I open the email it's just the Steam Controller. Guess I'll hold off a day or two until I know I'm in locked in for a Steam Machine purchase w/ controller.

Quite like the controller. Took a bit of getting used to and i don't use it for some games but its very handy for the couch.

From what I understand, we should be getting our lottery results before then along with a "reservation queue" email for the lucky ones that have a Steam Machine reserved.

Then order emails go out starting on Monday.

What does a "reservation queue" email mean?
You have a Steam Machine reserved. Once it's ready, you'll get a purchase email and 72 hours to complete the purchase before the reservation is canceled and passed to the next person.


When will order emails go out?
Starting the week of June 29, in randomized order, continuing through the rest of the year.

You got a point. The controller is also a money printer if you decide to sell on sleez-bay. I'll definitely be buying it for personal use as I doubt I'll be lucky enough to win the Steam Machine lottery but if for some reason things work out, I'll ping you.

It does. From Valve's own unboxing video, you can see that the Steam Controller is packed separately and comes in the same box you get if you order it by itself.

512GB, no controller, but I'm just happy I'll be able to snag a machine!! Gonna put an order in for the controller separately. Hopefully it won't take me until September 2027 for one to come through, but I can wait on that.
