GTA VI physical edition won't include discs

No disk in physical copy wtf. No resale damn.. you can't trade this game. More sales for rockstar.

I'm sure the people whining about game-key cards will totally complain about this too, right?
The Game Key Cards are for these greedy western publishers. Nintendo's own 1st party (except for Pokemon since its not completely owned by Nintendo) always contain the full game on the cartridge and require no day 1 patch.

I don't think this will become a trend. Not every game is GTA 6. Rockstar could sell GTA 6 in a box of shit, and people would still buy it.

This is simply the result of GTA VI being the biggest entertainment product ever made.

What people might not be realizing is that like the $100 price bullshit that every exec wanted to use as an excuse to push prices up for other games as well, GTA having no physical disk disk will have the same impact as well, if this game sells shitloads of "physical copies" which it still will, publishers will use it as an excuse to do the same and stop including disks altogether.
We probably won't even need a digital only PS6 for AAA publishers to stop selling physical disks for their games, we've already had a game here and there doing this for the PS5 but now it'll probably start happening en masse after VI...

Was this an actual thing that was announced? Did I miss something

Im like 99% digital anyway so it doesnt affect me.

Id argue your generation of young gamers, 18 and up probably only know digital growing up on fortnite, rocket league and roblox

But they are trend setters. And you can bet most CEOs in the industry are going to follow along. And any time anyone criticizes the move, they will point to GTA6.

Exactly, game as big as this one doing this will set a precedent in the industry.

Physical was dying but those fuckers are accelerating it.

There's no other publisher in the world with a game like GTA VI in its catalog. They can try, but any other game would be heavily criticized, and citing GTA VI as an example is pointless. Not every game is GTA VI.

Just to be clear, I don't agree with Rockstar's approach. I simply think it's something they can get away with without causing much outrage because GTA VI is the most anticipated game ever made.

Pc players be like dawg, i dont have a single disk since shit knows how many years

Physical media is the biggest advantage of consoles. With it you:

- own the game
- can sell it
- can buy it at much lower price than on digital stores
- can rent it

With GTA6 you only have:

- own the game
- can sell it

- can buy it at much lower price than on digital stores
- can rent it

But I doubt price of GTA6 will drop anytime soon after launch.

So now we'll get the week or two of 'definitely not buying this shit now' comments, followed by them quietly buying it sometime between now and release anyway?

Well damn.

Not surprised though. Didn't we recently have a few games get leaked (rumoured to be a game journalist) and we still don't know who it is or how it happened? Won't be surprised if this is why they're doing it this way.

There's no disc ,only code? It's very pity for me it's only game i want to buy on disc and buy console for those game.If not disc i will wait pc ver and ps6 version.

They also hate their consumers.
This is where the industry is going unfortunately. Not just Take Two. Now the game will not be resold in any way shape or form. Let's face it, PC is all digital. Xbox is already all about codes in boxes for years. Sony is alongside Nintendo the one ones that still have the full games on discs...but it's just a matter of time for Sony and then Nintendo in a few years.
That was 13 years ago. But man what a time to be alive. That's the difference between having Playstation being run by gamers and people that understood videogames instead of corporate suits.

lets see how brave they are when the woke police refuse to rate the game and they have to either push back or yield

Lol, relieved I'm not excited for this. No disc is fucked up. Maybe this is what Zelnick meant by Rockstar will do what no one has before. Releasing digital only.

People who are applauding this should prep themselves for paving the path where publishers can screw you over at a whim when you forfeit your rights and everything becomes digital.

Also, I get the hunch they originally intended to go for a $100 pricetag, but the reaction after the gaming media passed that story around was enough to make them reconsider. So, they figured the alternative would be to seal away content in the ultimate edition instead.

It's a completely anti consumer measure.

But it's true that they're the only ones who can do that and basically nothing happens.

Another game would be in a much worse situation.

Even so, there will be many people sharing accounts on PlayStation 5, so the game will cost them $40.

I'll pay for it digitally as long as what I see in the gameplay is what I expect from a game of this caliber.

I am going to order a physical copy, get it graded, sit on it for 20 years then sell a slip of paper in a plastic box for 3 billion dollars.

Scummy move by Take-Two, who are clearly penny-pinching here, to not include the disc with the physical version of the game.

I was going to pre-order a PS5 copy from Amazon tomorrow as they do not take payment upfont and only charge on dispatch so there's no harm done. However, there is now no point in doing this. I'll just buy the game on release. Very disappointed though to not be able to buy the game on a disc. Also, such a massive waste of money and materials manufacturing the box, cover and code in an otherwise useless "physical" edition. I hated it when Microsoft did this which led me to stop buying Xbox Series X games altogether.

There really is absolutely no need for anyone to pre-order GTA 6 in my opinion as the game requires an internet connection to download it so if you must buy it early then just buy a week before release so you can pre-load it to the console of your choice. Don't be a fool and give Take-Two your money now; it's not like they need it anyway as surely one of the richest publishers in the videogames industry?

Fuck off not including the disc at launch. I have a feeling I'm in the same boat as a lot of you who were planning to sell it once the proper PC version comes out
