GTA VI physical edition won't include discs

I sure hope no disc is a temporary measure to avoid leaks. They can go fuck themselves if there's no disc version at all.

An extra disc costs about a $1 for them to source/press, I'd be perfectly fine with them up charging the physical by $5-10 if there's 2-3 discs, rather than no physical at all.
I don't even have an issue with them requiring you to download the game regardless... but come on, at least put in the disc, do it like Nintendo does.

Am i reading wrong or there are stores and jobs in the game that will only exist on the Premium edition?
"Ultimate Edition"

Welcome to Leonida, the state where anything goes. Seize everything this massive world has to offer with the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action around every corner.

Ultimate Edition bonuses are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter.

Do you remember when millions of users were saying that the standard version of GTAVI was going to cost $100?

In the end, it turns out it costs the same as any other game.

How many people have made money from the constant misinformation and clickbait on social media?
That is not the discussion in this thread and that is now the least of their problems imo

How does a physical edition still be called a physical edition when all it has is a piece of paper telling you to go online and download the game?

Well.. I guess if Nintendo can be allowed to get away with it, then why not everyone else?
This is not even remotely the same and you know it.
Try reselling a code in a box....

Why is this a surprise. It was sealed when many companies stopped doing physical Xbox Series releases (even Rayman Legends Retold won't launch physically on Xbox Series).

I was fine with $80, even $90 if the game has the scope we expect. I would've been fine with a $5-10 upcharge on a physical edition, especially if it requires one or more extra discs, I'd even be fine with a few days delay on the physical if they're so worried about leaks, or even begrudgingly accept the license tied to the disc but a required download on the initial physical release. But no disc whatsoever and only a non-fungible, one use code with no resell option is a step too far.

I simply won't take part on principal. What a buzzkill.

I hope all of this crap gets regulated into oblivion at this point, physical or digital software should be fully resellable if they can't respect the distinction between the two by themselves.

Most interesting detail is that the Ultimate Edition contains shops and locations that are seemingly only open for business if you have the Ultimate Edition.
This is bullshit on another level.
WTF is wrong with them, there's literally nothing positive about this announcement

Can you sell the code on or is it a one time use?

one time most likely.

How do I resell my "physical" copy?

You can't

Game's so big it won't fit on two discs.
Just wait for the complains when you need 512GB of space just for the download.
And for the "server crashed" news.

Grand Theft Auto VI will not have a physical disc copy, all versions of the game will be digital. They're truly pushing the industry forward in a brave new direction for major releases.

Let's see how gaming websites react to this.

That is also absolute dogshit.

Rockstar going full on anti consumer with the GTA6 release. Are these rockstar decisions, or Take-Two decisions.?

100% anti consumer move, they are worse than MS and Nintendo - at least you can resell empty DRM discs/carts.

Watch the industry making it the standard next gen.

It's not really that bold of a move.

Remedy did this with Alan Wake II initially. Sure not even close to the same caliber of game, but it's been done before.

I honestly still might buy the download code, but I'm sure a lot of people like me are a bit disappointed.

Not just 1st party. Plenty of 3rd party games require no day 1 patch. This includes most JRPGS and even some western publishers like Rockstar (not the online portion ofcourse). A lot of games can be played without day 1 patch. I am not really interested in whatever companies like Ubisoft and ActiBliz make anyway.
Its my mistake to praise Rockstar. All western publishers (Ubisoft, EA, Microsoft, Rockstar) are doing this.

It doesn't matter if it would fit or not, disc could be empty and you would still be able to sell it. One time code? Fuck you...

I'm really glad I don't give a shit about this game. If I did, I'd be super pissed. The precedent for the industry just really sucks. This really is gonna be my last generation of consoles I think. Gonna go all in retro and backlog after this with the way things are going.

It's why I believe the disc drive will be an optional peripheral from day 1. I doubt there will even be a bundle with it being sold.
I'm guessing the Pro set the stage for what the PS6 will be: A digital only SKU with the attachment sold seperately( and the current disc drive no doubt won't fit it).

They probably already have the GTA 6 Next Gen versions ready to resell you when the new consoles come out. They will make sure it does not work with Backwards compatibility.
