AMD Rdna 5 desktop GPU's launching mid 2027?

If it's even available. (Hey I was willing to buy a 6800xt but they were in even shorter supply than rtx 3000 series)

You mean their high end card? 50 dollars cheaper than a 5090?
I'm sure it will be expensive if they decide to challenge Nvidia in the high end marked, but it sure would be nice and good for consumers if they did.
I'm very happy with my 5090's, but a lack of competition will probably mean even higher prices and less effort for the upcoming 60-series.
 
If RAM situation continues like it is I'm not quite sure what their plan is.

At this point I'd say consoles are a better investment for the every day gamer
 
I'm happy with my 9070xt. I don't plan on buying anything to upgrade my pc for a few years anyways. Hoping the prices fall back to normal in a year or two. But that may never happen.

That is great news both to pc crowd(obviously more competition is needed and very welcome, at least in midrange gaming pc market) and to console fanbase too coz we will be able directly tell how good rdna5 tech is, and can relatively easily extrapolate ps6 gpu capabilities, and obviously with that tech avaiable, u can tell ps6 train is in full force destined to land holidays 2027 :messenger_sunglasses:

I mean AMD for past 2-3 years is in really good condition. They ate almost half of server market so this plus AI money they actually have money now to compete.
The problem is that Nvidia has even more money now. It will depend mainly if Nvidia even cares about gaming at this point.

I wouldn't be shocked if Nvidia decided to skip generation to sell those chips for 40-50k a pop instead of measly RTX6090s $4000

Ram prices actually have little to do with chip specs itself. Especially lately where compression algos got very good and gpus aren't as starved as they used to be for high bandwidth. The only problem will be available memory size but i don't see it being resolved anytime soon.

It was great highend gpu back when it launched end of 2022, hell even today its still very solid except ai and rt capabilities(compared to its amazing raster performance, basically on pair with 5070ti, sometimes even above that depending on each game), if amd puts highend card with proper feautes in 2027 u gonna get tons of value out of that and very meaningful upgrade :)

Not going to happen. And that justification makes zero sense since we're talking about different products for different markets.

If it only competes with 4090 aka 2022 bis gpu as long as it has not crazy tdp and modern 2027 capabilities ai upscaling and rt wise, with streetprice under 1,5k usd it will be worthy purchase for many of us :)

So why would AMD sell GPUs to gamers or Ryzen CPUs instead of Epycs? The latter are in fact being made in the same fab. Hell, they are being made from the same chips!

7900XTX is also "vram ready" for next gen.
 
1- the leak source is someone who smoke crack and not to be trusted.
2- AMD was never first for GPU. because they are always like Idiots wait or Nvidia then lower the price by 50$ thinking they are breaking the world with that move.


No GPU will be out before end of 2027 the earlist.

We are mid 2026, if there were any sign of GPUs, K KeplerL2 would have something or hinted at some specs even.

I could be wrong but I believe we are abit too far still.

Because cpu chips aren't hot as gpus for AI. And yes if server market would want shitload of epycs AMD would focus on that segment instead of consumer.
The whole 3D v-chache in AMD gaming cpus is literally because they were already making 3D Vache for their server market and someone at AMD thought that maybe they could sell some chips in consumer market too.

What are you talking about? Both the 9070xt and non xt are better buys than either the 5070/ti. In terms of value for money, you'd have to be an omega idiot to purchase either the 5070 or ti at current prices.

At least where I live, the ti is 40% more expensive than the 9070xt for similar performance outside of path tracing. The 5060ti 16gb/5070 are in the same price bracket as the 9070.

Just checked current US price of 9070xt, u can tell amd was gouging their buyers early on coz now it sits at 650$, for example cheapest 5070ti is 250$ more expensive at 900$(+38% difference).

For midrange gaming thats not small difference, for example difference between 9600x and 9800x3d is 257$ and we all can guess which cpu is vastly superior and more futureproofed :P

Either that or market decided that is actual difference between features rdna4 vs blackwell family cards offer but could it really be such a huge difference just coz of that? Since raster perf in games is almost identical, roughly 5% in favour of much more expensive nvidia product.

Cant wait till we get nextgen gpu's, will be very fun time once again :)

Like all products companies cancel. The amount of sales wouldn't cover fab retrofit costs or just way too little profit. They would rather push all their VRAM allotment to their Instinct series of GPUs that they sell whole racks if 10s of thousands of dollars each you never heard of.

Like this one:

AMD MI350
128 compute units (where 9070XT has 64)
165GB of HBM3E VRAM at 4000GB/s
600W 2slot passively cooled (for rack)

That's twice as powerful as 9070XT with insanely fast and super huge VRAM pool.

It's complex to manufacture, and it seems they haven't been able to fix the high power consumption.
So they let RDNA 4 be a transitional line leading to UDNA, where they would change everything. In theory, RDNA 4 would be used to gain market share, with cheap GPUs. It's similar of the transition strategy between Vega and RDNA (also Polaris to Vega).

Last year, the difference was much smaller, what happened is that the 5070 Ti's price skyrocketed, while the 9070 XT's price dropped.
