Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

To that end, I also wonder how many of those original naughty dog geniuses still work there. Passion or not, doing 80-90 hour weeks for months on end will lose its appeal, especially as you get married and start a family. How many of those original geniuses would stay behind and want to keep pushing the boundary while getting forced to work on mandated GAAS trash or whatever lesbian fantasy druckmann is dreaming up?

I know a lot of you are hopeful that ND still has the goods, but I think it's time to face the music. After their underwhelming and uninspired intergalactic trailer, maybe they just don't have that dog in them anymore?

After however many years they had to work on this, at best they came up a lesbians in space cowboy bebop setting with a 'souls like' combat vs uninspired robots.

Maybe their best days are behind them?

He said top to bottom, from art directors to concept artists. the only one left from the old days is Neil. and we know he out making tv shows until 2025.

Thats actually great news to me. I want nothing to do with another bland open world game, espcially in the Horror genre. Keep it linear as fuck and ramp up the atmosphere
Im absolutely loving it.

WHat Would've been dope is a dynamic day/night cycle. You're out in Raccoon City and night hits/ zombie become more active. could have been an actual game mechanic
Dying light series has that mechanic

as someone who doesn't like any post Jak 3 game from Naughty Dog, I kinda don't care about this lol.
if anything this could be a good thing from my perspective.

but then again, I don't expect much either way.

the team behind the Jak games has been gone for a while. the main designer behind them, previously to that of Sonic 1-3 fame, of course first leaving for Nintendo, and now works at Unity I think lol.

That's absolutely not true. For example, to name a few, there's Erick Pangilinan, who joined Naughty Dog in 1997 and went on to become Art Director on all the Uncharted games and The Last of Us. Now he's Head of Art.

Kurt Margenau and Anthony Newman, who are Game Director and Head of Production and Design respectively, have been with the studio for over 15 years.

Or Travis McIntosh, who is the Head of Technology, has also been with Naughty Dog for over 20 years.

You still have people who worked on Crash Bandicoot or Jack at the studio.

Even if you look at the majority of the studio's current leads, they've been there for over 10 or almost 20 years.

There will always be turnover of people leaving after each project because that's how the industry works, but to say that only Neil is left from the studio's old days is simply wrong.

In fact, in recent years quite a few people who worked at Naughty Dog have returned to the studio.

Holy fuck. You are in a graphics thread and you point to a guy that wasn't involved in TLOU2, which is far and away the best technical game from Naughty Dog, and you used that as a reason for the studio as "not being the same anymore". Losing Art directors and concept artists will not be the downfall of Naughty Dog. High turnover is the norm in this industry

Also, this developer said he would return to UC5 in a heartbeat. People within the gaming industry still view Naughty Dog as the "Harvard" of gaming. They still recruit the best talent in the US

I will say these ex-Naughty Dog dev interviews are fantastic. The interviewer comes across as an egotistical asshole on X, but he does a good job conducting these interviews. Outside of the crazy work hours, all of the ex-Naughty Dog devs seem positive on the experience of working there

That's interesting to hear, but the turn over at nd was covered by schrier who pointed out how 14 out of the 20 design leads left the studio during tlou2's development.

Even if the people at the top are there, there have definitely been a lot of departures.

No, it was the non-lead designers and not the leads and it was after the development of Uncharted 4 not that of TLOU Part 2.

Of the 20 non-lead designers in the credits of 2016's Uncharted 4, a whopping 14—70 percent—are no longer at the studio

Otherwise, the majority of the leads for Uncharted 4 are still at Naughty Dog.

You often hear of something called Nanite* when discussing UE5, but when we made Rebirth we made our own rendering system that was basically the same as Nanite, so we were able to have a comparable quality to UE5. As a development team we've made lots of AAA games up until now, so I hope players can place their trust in us

You can say what you want but the environments are beautiful in Gothic Remake.
It finally paid off to use UE5 (maybe besides the atrocious performance) but an AA game looking close to an AAA game

It absolutely destroy stuff like cringe turding 2 or yotei or spiderman 2 outside of cutscenes.

If they show proper gameplay gotta be on the pr0, base ps5 was fine for cutscenes/in engine shit coz it wouldnt matter too much but gameplay is gameplay, we know game gonna have special price even for standard edition so my guess is rockstar will want to blow our minds and literally force us to preorder, aka pr0 gameplay is a must :D

Thats true it looks better than a lot of AAA Titles, only the character models and animations like you said are on the weaker side.
 
It was mainly a vehicle for neil "hollywood incel" druckmann to tell a story about how women cannot let go of grudges because they are resentful, vindicative, and a danger for themselves and people around.

For example Gothic remake is DLSS 4.5 only in game:

I have that DLSS OSD always turned on since DLSS 4.5 launch so I always know exactly what game is using (it's quite sweet for games with dynamic resolutions) but to be the most sure - you are right:

- using DLSS swapper to change DLSS files in game to the newest ones (or manual swap)
- using NV Profile Inspector to force profile you want.

What annoys me is that new games are forcing DLSS 4.5 even if end results are bad, for example 8020 has tons of artifacts with Performance because it switches to M model and that + UE5 = bad results (Balanced and Quality use 4.0). Games should have options like Crimson Desert (of course override still works even for 4.5 native games).

Is it true that swapping framegen files is much easier because the game only read the file in the folder or whatever so you never have to force the override?

Yep, frame gen was like that from day one (and only few games didn't respond correctly to file swap).

Now they added new improved preset B for frame gen, but just file swapping old DLSS3 FG file will still get you DLSS4 quality FG.

I think it should work for everything (not sure).

Default DLSS FG for older games - DLSS3
When you switch .dll file - you get DLSS4
When you switch preset to B on that .dll file - you get DLSS4.5 FG (DLSS4 with default preset A I think)

Swapper has this setting in newer versions:

So Laufey is indeed the Cory game. He pitched it to the actress in 2018 after shipping GOW. The Cube was there since the beginning.

Alannah pearce had confirmed that the cube came from Cory himself, and she was basically a part of a 4-5 person writer team for the first few years until the main team shipped ragnorak.

People like tlou, uncharted and gow because of the main protagonists. actively making games that dont feature these protagonists is crazy. they did with Ghost of Tsushima too. I am glad Days Gone 2 never got made. I dont think i couldve played as his scientist wife.
