Evo registrations have concerning drop

There's a ton of responses here that kind of miss the mark completely. Yeah, Vegas is more expensive but not so much more than last year. All the comments about changes to the game systems are obviously off considering SF6 is still breaking records (SF6 was the biggest tourny at Evo Japan by an actual order of magnitude). Somebody made a comment about young people not being interested and according to Capcom themselves this literally isn't true lol. I question the 'so many more Evos' argument applying to such an American tournament - I don't know the attendance breakdown but I doubt anything close to 50% of the attendees are international.

The immediate changes YOY are maybe people themselves are just squeezed that much harder this year than last in life and that this year is the first year Evo's been fully owned by a Saudi investment fund. Nobody's mentioned the latter (although judging by the responses most people in this topic haven't been paying attention at all lol), and I personally don't believe it would make that much of a difference, but a few members of the community have drawn lines in the sand over this.

Not really surprising, the younger generations haven't really gotten into fighting games like people who grew up in the 80's and 90's, so the community around them hasn't really grown much in the last 10-15 years and a lot of the older people in the FGC are getting old enough to not want to bother with tournaments anymore. It's a shame to see but not surprising when you consider how much less fighting games that aren't Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat tend to sell now a days.
Devs keep botching releases.

1. Samurai Shodown 2021 didn't release on pc until a year later.
2. MK Collection was an unfinished turd on release.
3. VF 5 REVO didn't have a good single player mode initially, and when they finally added it, they put in an intrusive kernel level anti cheat

I would have bought all those otherwise.

Too many other games don't have complete editions, and additional content is too expensive. When the price is finally reasonable, there is nobody to play against.

Many of them don't have cross play, there's often not even an option to enable voice chat.

Basically there is no dev in the genre worth my time or money. If there was I'd be on board as I'm sure others would be.

This would probably shock devs, but a free weekend sprinkled here and there would do a lot of good. First weekend of release SHOULD BE FREE and should be marketed as such in prerelease trailers. If the game is good enough it'd make me try more new series.

More frequent and reasonable discounts too.
