For what it's worth, I got into this series about 8 years ago when a bundle site (I think Fanatical?) had the first like 8 games in a bundle for $1. As far as playtime goes, it's probably the best $1 I ever spent. These days, the games are rarely discounted on Steam, especially the later ones. Personally I don't mind because each game takes about 7-8 hours total to finish, so I don't mind dropping $15 or whatever.
But if you don't mind using the Legacy Games launcher (they do freebies through Amazon on the regular, you might already have a library of casual games there like me) they have two volumes that are $20 each
