French journalists claims today will be one of the most disastrous days in the industry (XBOX)

I'm not sure how related everything else is, but Tom Henderson is doing the Insider Gaming Weekly Episode right now and mentioned he already heard what is going to happen and he heard about a studio closure as well. He also mentioned Gears of War E Day has a budget close to 400 million and that the decision to make it exclusive was made about 5 to 6 weeks ago, validating what Aaron Greenberg said. Cannot timestamp right now as it's still live.

Lots of conflicting reports on the eday stuff

Got it, makes more sense it started AT Xbox

I hate to be such a cold person but years of making bad decisions from the leadership and years of making sub par games tends to kill a game company

One of the most disastrous days in the history of the American video game industry is on Phil Spencer and Mike Ybarra (though admittedly Ybarra tried to go against him a few times and was over ruled) decisions they made

All of this could have been avoided by making better games and holding those studios to higher standards

I survived 13 years in total in one of the most ruthless professions out there that about only 23k people have ever experienced in its 150 years of being on our planet

Do better or find other jobs
Microsoft from like 2015 to 2023 was spending billions for acquisitions and content, giving the devs total freedom to do what they want, and not even really holding them accountable. It was like a start up because they were pursuing growth of gamepass at all costs. Now, the bill is due. I think the party ended with Shartfield and the Activision acquisition going through.

South of Midnight's credits show over 1000 people and it came out 7 years after their last game. It probably cost nine figures to make and realistically probably didn't even sell 250,000 copies across all platforms.

Spent 100 billion dollars on buying companies and spent 500 million on the marketing alone for the Kinect.

Sure making exclusive content and Game Pass subscription will get you your money back pretty soon won't it

I don't understand the negativity against the French. I think we all know what it looks like when they start taunting and we don't want any of that.

400 million dollar budget and a lot of people mad at layoffs will still be happy it's potential sales just got throttled. Clown world I tell ya.

I'm going to create a fake x account and post some made up bad Xbox news and see if it appears on neogaf

MS made a $400 million budget game a console exclusive!? On a platform with its users conditioned not to buy games!?

Now, that's some big brain move if I ever saw one. 💀💀💀

Man, that really puts things into perspective. Though it's likely a bit more than 23k, as many retired or moved on, but the entire video game developers from the major publishers and platforms is less than 60k people.

Yep, either do better or be ready to face the consequences.

I don't think he's saying he was a developer. Something much more niche.

I think its pretty well known that he has eluded to being a professional batball player in the past where he kicked many first downs and hole in ones even winning a Web Ellis Cup.

Off topic: True, very dissapointing, Im rooting for spurs but he and his team are weak mind in crucial games and choker.
They still beat the best team in the NBA, if the Thunder went to finals they would have swept the Knicks.
NBA needs a reset with how weak the eastern teams are and easy path to the finals on that conference side.

According to Baseball Almanac 22,718 have played at least one game and before this season started about 1500 of those only played in one game and of the 22,718 less than 10% have made the 10 year 100 vested in the pension mark
