Fable | Gameplay Trailer released

Ok now this looks like Fable. Animations are also great- the way the villager reacted and fell after getting shot in the leg and the way the MC swings his sword look very realistic to me.

Man the game looks so bland, the conversations are so sanitized and the voice acting is terrible. Besides what is going on with the horrible lip sync?
Yeah, I was thinking the same. What was appealing about marriage and children with the woman in that demo?

"Oi I like you! Be rich and buy a house, and then I'll date you me matey! That was a great date! We're official now luv! Bye."

Riveting. I like the idea of choice, but that all seemed so surface level. I can't imagine any of that will amount to any real depth/pay off. Still, I'll give it a chance. I have a buddy who swears by this series and I've never played, so I won't give up too quick.

I was looking forward to this but man this looks so underwhelming, even dull. And do they HAVE to have this lame modern dialogue? "Sorry don't talk to randos"

Oh fuck off. Why even bother with the setting at all if you can just make them talk like they're off Tiktok? What's the point?

Maybe play the originals instead of this soulless corpo crap then

I don't know… I was impressed by both the visuals and animation before, but this looked just average? I mean, it looks good, but the 2d vegetation really stands out. And somehow the combat animations also looked average here but I remember being amazed by it. Is it just me?

My girlfriend was watching the gameplay with me and she noticed as well lol. Once you see it you cant unsee it

The worst part, papito....it's hypnotising me! I don't want to look at it but now I can't watch anything but....or butt?

The worst bit is the jogging animation, it kinda slides the ass side to side.

FFS I hate this

Just dont be afraid calling like it is, bro, its made by women for women, combat/narrative/dialogues/story and even character design and animations all point to it, its obviously for most of us-males, especially ones that resisted brainwashing/indoctrination it looks crazy artificial and unbelievable.
In normal male written game that tawern would be dirty af and had at least few thugs looking for trouble yet here we got literal kindergarten with not even 1 guy looking for some fight :P
Look how nicely berserk solved that shit, back in 1997(manga that its based on is even older):

Any male, even teenage boy watches this small snippet and their testosterone quadruples, thats what good writing and catering to masculinity is :)

Well I don't really care about dialogue or writing as I value gameplay/systems loop more but sure I would have liked something more grittier like Witcher or KCD2 than this but again it's Fable and this "Safe" writing is to pull more audience, esp. the casuals who would want to play this on Xbox Game Pass, romancing and trying non-heavy combat stuff more. Beserk comparsion is crazy dude, that is a hardcore adult manga and this is a game that MS wants to reach out to many new players.

I just wish it had dialogue/writing a bit more coherent, a bit more faithful to the setting and age and world they are building rather than whatever it is right now.

Its not supposed to be gritty

Its supposed to be a funny boyish written (fart humor etc) english Fairytale

Not just you. Looks way worse than anything else I've seen of it before. After the last trailer I had it down as one of the most visually impressive games of the whole SGF, but this just looks mediocre to me.

Seems .. fine ???

They seem to have fixed the male walk animation mostly, looks a little wonky when he's jogging still, but at least he's no longer shaking that ass like shakira.

My feelings exactly. Seems they were bullshot trailers I guess. I thought the days of bullshot trailers are behind us. And also as others pointed out, the reddit/marvel style atrocious writing is horrible.

It's dumb and immersion-breaking, more so in a game where immersion is the main factor. They should hire actual writers with experience in satire fantasy.

Also, I don't agree with the notion of morality being subjective. If you kick a dog, you are an animal abuser and that's always wrong. I'm afraid this is an excuse to sanitize the game under the pretense of "freedom" but time will tell.

The world is both quite pretty (environs) and utterly grotesque (characters and NPC's) at the same time. It's quite unnerving.

They've failed at English whimsy as well, it's all well and good going for Pratchett nonsense but we live in a post capeshit world.

Just to be clear. I'm still fucking in so much because I want to believe they've created something with some genuinely cool systems interacting.

Plus I'm a Yorkshire man and this is fucking bliss lad, eye.

I just need less ass jiggle

I would argue this bad writting(no need to call it safe, its simply bad) will not only not pull more audience, but it will have effect of putting off audience instead.
Witcher 3 surpassed 65m copies sold worldwide, so proper writting is only good for pulling more audience, not bad :)

I think overall it looks really good, it lacks the charm and atmosphere of the originals though, well at least in this demo it did. Also it seemed like the earlier trailers showed a lot more people walking around, I know that was in a big city and this was just a village but it still seemed pretty lifeless a lot of the time.

Looks good and has potential. Just fix the male animation, lip sync, enemy AI.

Didn't play the previous games so I don't have anything to compare to.

They have some time to address these so I'm positive on this one.

There are some really cool things like reputation changes, the whole systemic aspect, property management and firing/hiring everyone, being able to be a real jerk etc... looks like they really took what made Fable great and expanded on the systems and I like that a lot. Writing seems... surprisingly ok?

But on the other hand the animations aren't that great, very stiff and the gameplay seems sluggish. NPCs faces are tired too lol but that's not a dealbreaker to me as every one of them is voiced and unique.
Hopefully they can fix these problems, if they do we might get an actual good new Fable !

Scenery and lighting as the sun started to set looked beautiful. Looks like it has a good deal of rpg interaction too.
Hope the combat is as fun and challenging as Fable 1.

It still looks feminine, the way he moves his legs is just weird. I get that you are excited for the game and dont want to hear criticism but this is not a very manly animation when walking
If the new animation was all we've seen of the male walking and we never saw the zestiness, no one would say anything because it looks fine.

Will have another early candidate for GoTY when it releases. This is how it's done, Molyneaux.

Q1 games rarely get to the end of the year and still be legit contenders, but there have been exceptions like RE4, ME2 etc.

Wishing Playground the best of luck, they've taken a wild swing out of their normal wheelhouse with this.
