I'm joking obviously, the fact that you will be able to see the whole world in the sky is gonna be insane. Takahashi never disappoints when it comes to world design.

Definitely using the extra horsepower that Switch 2 has over Switch 1 so I get why this is coming out in 2027

Thats what im not liking, all the female protag being mage aprentiece in mage academy so basically early stage of the game, dunno if it will be first 10 or maybe even 20h, would much rather get "standard" male protag with big sword or at least fist fighter.
And u can tell right away character designer is a woman coz all characters got 0 testosterone in them..
 
Yeah. I don't know. I'm ok with anime style, but these character look generic AF.
Also while the world design is not bad, the coloring and quality of some of those background assets is a bit lackluster.
The indoor and green areas look fine, but the browner areas look like shite.
 
I honestly love the world, it seems it's just waiting for exploration.
I also like the lighting system, it's not as evolved as RTGI obviously, but it's well done and a good evolution compared to previous episodes.

So far, I just don't like the school setting, characters and shonen style... which I admit is pretty important in a JRPG. The school uniform is basic andjust a trope in JRPG and anime, I always hated that. No charisma or originality.
 
I like it so far, the trailer was good and there is plenty of time to show off more. The game is probably not ready to be fully shown and with what they did show it is a nice teaser so us Xenoblade fans can be excited that Monolith is cooking up something new in the series. Real and gritty doesn't work for JRPGs just look how FFXVI turned out and how DQXII had to be restarted.
tbh, there are lot of gritty JRPG, you might need to explore more, not just what popular...

Yeah, they're just slapping "Xenoblade" on the title to sell more copies.

It was probably a direct order from Nintendo.
Remember:

They forced Monolith to change "Monado" to Xenoblade in the first place.

Why does that mean they're "slapping" the Xenoblade name on it? Games are developed under codenames all the time. With most professional games I've worked on, we don't even decide on a real title until a few years into development.
 
God I can't stop watching the trailer and over analyze everything and my hype grows every time I rewatch it.

I'm an industry analysis.
We have metrics to determine slapping.
 
Never played a single one of these games, but every time I see any of its entries the cover art just always seems the same — blue sky, clouds, some enigmatic thing in the back…
 
We been through this almost every Xenoblade release….it has became like habit to some people here to automatically shit on any new JRPG comes and say it's "too anime".
I've always liked JRPG's and with Western games being what they are now, a game being called "anime" just piques my interest more lol.
 
I liked 1 and X but 2 was so boring I dropped it after 20 hours and ultimately skipped 3 as a result.

Hard to tell just from the trailer obviously but hopefully this one is a return to form.
Xenoblade chronicles 3 is probably one of the best in the series. Especially the overall storyline and darker themes. You should do yourself a favor and look back into 3 on Switch 2. Highly doubt you will be disappointed.

I tried out 2 near launch so it's been a while but I remember mainly getting bored with all of the system explaining and particularly the obnoxious / arbitrary roadblocks set up all over the map that prevented you from taking what looked like the best route from A to B. Did they improve any of that for 3?
 
I'm excited for this the more I dwell on it.

Fresh start for me to get into Xeno.

Chronicles 1 I wasn't impressed with, 2 I've dropped like 6+ times and plan to try again with the 60fps upgrade. Idk what it is about chronicles 2, but I know I need to play all these games and their dlc to get the max payout.

At least with this I can get in on the ground level.

If you mean Blade field skills then those are gone in 3rd game.

I love Xenoblade 2 and the combat is not at all complicated it just unfortunately the game does very shitty job explaining it to you.

This is why we have Xenoblade Youtubers like Enel make combat guid for it.

Massive fan of the Xenoblade series and all of the Xeno games, But so far I'm not liking the look of Genesis at all, Harry Potter school of magic plagiarism and the MC looks hideous... I don't like the cell shaded look either it seems overkill, The designs in general look meh.

I expected much more from Monolith but I'll give them benefit of the doubt and hold off until I see some real gameplay before I hit the panic button but so far I'm not really bothered by the game.

Monolith Soft also said this in their 25th year anniversary message:
"If Monolith Soft is to continue on into the future, it is still in its "Genesis" stage. We want the company's history to continue for 100, 200, or even 500 years, so we want to strive for even higher quality without being satisfied with the status quo."
 
Kind of curious if this will be another Turn Based hybrid system or full ARPG combat. Probably have to wait until next year to find out.

That's good news regarding the field skills but I generally avoid games that need to take a bunch of time to have you read books on how to play. I generally only get to game late at night and that stuff will put me to sleep 100% of the time.

Yes, it's a much more improved/streamlined progression model. Also, be aware you get a shitton of side stories, all optional, but do a great job at fleshing out your companions and the lore of the world.

There's also many secret/hidden areas to find with optional Legedary enemies to fight to reward you if you ever feel like exploring a bit...but again, even this is all optional.
