i can't help but feel like a lot of these threads seem like sponsored articles lately. Almost every 2 thread on here is about Asha.
Can anyone explain to me why is it "radically different" such goal? Xbox main console was always for the masses, somehow only Helix really tries a new business model though for the niche. There is nothing of radical different in a series S "kinda" of sku...
Without steam it's a useless PC imo.Half the reason I want Helix is because having a SFF PC in the living room space with guaranteed specs would be massive in that space.
I doubt she referred to that for new business strategy knowing MS thoughts about it.As far as we know, Helix was posed as a their main console, with the features and price of a super premium product. That's a crazy idea. XBOX needs a main console cheaper than PS (even if slightly less powerful) AND great exclusive games.
Just my 2 cents, we all hang out on a gaming forum and when these execs give these interviews we are going to dissect and discuss everything they say, I have no problem with that partThe problem is that she is being invited to all these places to talk and she's giving the most vague-ist answers she can without going into specifics, likely because they haven't finalized the spec-locked specifics themselves.
Maybe we can also kinda ease up on taking individual quotes from interviews and push news articles from them.
Just a thought.
aka leave the semi attractive multi millionare executive alone . jpeg
But I do hate these interviews where they literally say nothing
Or it's AI related, as they pulled in a number of AI staff onto Xbox, inc. Asha.

I'm going to push back on that, as some people associate cheaper with less value.
I think she's too polished to take the bait, but a follow up question about the significance of the word "just" in her statement needs to be asked. Did she just announce a regular console and Helix effectively, or did she just torpedo Helix?Just my 2 cents, we all hang out on a gaming forum and when these execs give these interviews we are going to dissect and discuss everything they say, I have no problem with that part
I also have no problem with us having civil talks about each other's opinions on what was said
But I do hate these interviews where they literally say nothing
people don't seem to get it, every time we say on GAF that they need to stop giving money to Valve people act like it's the stupidest thing they ever heardBecause it doesn't make sense for Microsoft to sell that system and make valve richer.
I have to agree. Please STFU about next-gen and focus on this one.Yeah just dont say anything until you are ready to actually reveal something
If you care that much about graphics you are free to buy a $5000 PC or whatever this shit costs nowadays.
Consoles (and handhelds) were always about mass market affordability, ease of use and new gameplay ideas that work around technical limitations. The more they strayed away from that the shittier and more PC like the whole console business became. See PS5 and Xbox Series. The hardware is expensive and boring, the games are boring and any kind of innovation is basically gone. All there is left is the same ray traced U5 slop you got on PC.
The problem is that she is being invited to all these places to talk and she's giving the most vague-ist answers she can without going into specifics, likely because they haven't finalized the spec-locked specifics themselves.

Well I mean I could write a book about Xbox management mishaps. But it all started with a silly CEO.Curious to hear your thoughts as to why consumers didn't respond Xbox having a superior lineup and instead went with platform with the inferior line?
In other words, you hate 80% of every MS exec interview (#there, i said it!) :-DBut I do hate these interviews where they literally say nothing
Wasn't she committed to deliver the best next gen console experience?
Why not make one 800 console for the plebs and keep the 1500 one as a "pro right from the start" model. They could even call it Helix and Helix E-Day
for your wallet
"Radically different business models....later this year"
I hear you, Asha
If this is what getting dunked on feels like, then I'm the king of the world!!!Is this what getting dunked on feels like?

"radically different business models"
Also, next gen console had been described as "premium" previously and here she is backing away from that.
These interviews are totally scripted and they are told what is off limits to ask because any real interviewer would have 100% had some follow up questionsI think she's too polished to take the bait, but a follow up question about the significance of the word "just" in her statement needs to be asked. Did she just announce a regular console and Helix effectively, or did she just torpedo Helix?
Exactly how I read it as in also other optionsTo be fair, she is not backing away.
"We will continue to look at new business models NOT JUST the high end premium consoles."
To be fair, she is not backing away.
"We will continue to look at new business models NOT JUST the high end premium consoles."
She is pushing affordability far more than the "premium" experience that Sarah Bond was advocating. To me, that's backing away, but it is a matter of interpretation.
edit: this is the "backing away" I'm talking about

Yeah, I can imagine it tbh. That 1299 Xbox helix is probably looking at 1799 or something at today's prices.
I think it's a shame but it's just the state of the world I guess. I don't think I will be in for another Xbox console because of this.![]()
With todays prices how much would each company have to subsidize a $500 console and how compromised would that console be to even reach that price point?Yeah, I can imagine it tbh. That 1299 Xbox helix is probably looking at 1799 or something at today's prices.

I 100% know I am in the minority but I would love a $2000 high powered console if they can also get out a more mainstream priced console that isn't compromised

Topher I finally listened to her interview and found this statement interesting
Asha Sharma has now offered a little more clarity on the matter, in a response to this statement: "One of the things that I think is really interesting about the business moment you're in is through the prism of something like Project Helix. It's expected to be a top-tier premium offering. There is definitely interest in it…"
Sharma replies, "I'm excited about it. It's a console that's also going to allow you to play your PC games. It's going to have backward compatibility. It's going to have leading-end performance, but there's material work to do to make sure that it is available to the people that want to play."
Well, in terms of that particular name, SS can have some bad connotationsXbox Series Ss. Now you can play in 480p!
That, did not make things any better with regards to transparency. What does it even mean? A system that has instant access to steam's entire catalogue, Epic's watered down catalogue, a combination of the two, neither one and it's just integration with the Windows Store on pc? I mean what is she even implying here, I can't even tell. Every time they speak, it's literally like a new can of worms being opened. It's a console that's also going to allow you to play your PC games
