Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition announced (XBC available later today; XBC2 on July 30; XBC3 on December 3)

This issue honestly seems overblown. I've been playing through XCX on Switch 2 and haven't had any issues that keep me from enjoying the game visually.

Maybe if you play the game while zoomed in 200x then it's an issue but on my TV, it looks great while running at 60fps 🤷‍♂️
Yeah I was gonna avoid this thread going forward, but unfortunately this new update for Xenoblade 1 does have a ton of performance issues that even bother me (and I usually try to look past this stuff).

This game was clearly designed at 30fps and they're shoehorning in 60fps where they can. Ugh, it's distracting 😕

XCX had much better performance than this.

I'm not looking at any texture stuff because I don't really care, but the framerate is def not smooth in XC1.

What do you mean you don't play your games zoomed in all the time? How else would you know that the wall on the back had some shimmering?

I still need to finish Xenoblade 1.
I'll play Xenoblade 2 on emulator so I can patch out this terrible, butchered localization.
But as I still haven't even bought Xenoblade 3, I'll definitely get the Switch 2 edition of that one.
I'm curious, what do you mean by butchered localization?

Also, I hope they don't make Massive Melee Mythra her default costume like they did in Smash?

WOW The switch 2 edition of chronicles looks and runs absolutely amazing, Buttery smooth. Almost feels like higher than 60fps. Gaur Plains is breathtaking.

It's nowhere near as egregious as X. I've been playing a bit in handheld mode and it's worth the upgrade to me.

It took me a while to see the issues with X's upgrade and yes I can see why so many were put off by it. If you dig and wear the right stick down to the nub you'll find just about any flaw with any game. But I agree that these are a little overblown here. A minor dip from 60FPS is totally playable. I use to get turbo nitpicky about my play sessions back in the day and all it really did was made me avoid games that were actually really good. I know it sucks for many that any negativity will turn them off to anything but if you can't looks past the little things you'll never play a game again in your life time.

Xenoblade 2's performance was always a huge drag on the experience for me, and I never finished the game or even got close largely because of that. Didn't play Torna or 3 for the same reason. This is a game changer for me.

But yeah, a little cautious given the issues with the Xenoblade X patch… but it sounds like it was actually fine, more or less, for people who are just playing docked? Really hope these turn out because I've wanted this sort of upgrade for a loooonng time.

I went ahead and picked up the first upgrade. I can't remember if I finished the first game or not. I guess I will find out (if I can get to playing it again).

It's awesome that we get patches for Xenoblade Chronicles but the waiting time is way too long. I will get the patches for Xenoblade 2 and 3. Maybe I will finally end up playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

They're saying it's got similar problems but the comparison video makes it look so much better now
These muppets have no clue what they're talking about and it seems like half the people ITT have forgotten what the issues with XBX are.

The game not being native 4k and therefor a bit soft isn't the issue, it's this shit:

Warping/deforming textures everywhere as soon as you start moving the camera (and this also affects ground textures, everything you see) and I can't see this anywhere in the XB1 footage they've provided. The foliage/trees in the distance look a bit shimmery but not nearly like what is going on in XBX, the ground also looks kinda fine. I also don't see it in the raw footage alf717 alf717 provided (but I do wish he had not moved the camera as much as he did).

I'll wait for DF to take a look at it, but from what I am seeing it's definitely not comparable at all.

I resisted getting these in Switch due performance, but I had a remaining Switch Online Voucher (RIP in peace to that great initiative) and redeemed that for XBC Deluxe Edition, then paid the upgrade. Can't wait to get stuck into it on Switch 2.

I still think they should have been sued for marketing Xenoblade X as 4k.

this isn't even image reconstruction, this is literally 1080p with a filter.
like when devs say it's 4k but it's in reality using FSR2/3 or DLSS or PSSR or something, that's one thing. that is also not 4k, but it's at least an intelligent reconstruction algorithm constructing a 4k image.

this is a literal 1080p image with a filter akin to the old ZSNES pixel smoothing filters. this is 100% false advertising... and I also can't believe that they haven't patched it yet either. absolute insane

So there are rumblings that they're censoring Pyra and Mythra (again) for the remaster of 2. It's still too early to know for sure, but I sure have less and less goodwill to go around for this kind of thing. Guess we'll see as more footage comes out.

If it does happen, I bet my bottom dollar is those fucking wanks at Treehouse driving the whole thing.

If that happens I'm not buying the Remasters

I swear those guys at Treehouse makes me super mad if it's confirmed to be censored. That's my favorite Xenoblade game
