Asha: "We will continue to look at new business models...rather than just the most premium, high performance console in the world"

Maybe you can't afford $1000 up front but how about $50 a month??

Don't pay the bill some thugs dressed up as Spartans kick down the door to repo it.

Good. Why do we need overly powerful consoles? Switch/2 have shown the VAST majority don't really give a shit about being the most powerful. Just focus on games and gameplay.

Also, next gen console had been described as "premium" previously and here she is backing away from that.
Her wording is also very careful here as to me

rather than just the most premium, high performance console in the world

can be read in two different ways as in instead of or rather than just the one device

She didn't say much honestly because if she was breaking some sort of news it wouldn't have been done in this manner imo

LMAO the first time I actually saw Topher getting dunked on lively... Beautiful moments.

Yah know, Asha's Xbox.. sorry... XBOX is like this desperate spaghetti test any shit on the wall approach that I am kinda rooting for them.

You gonzo bastards have literally expressed every possible stratedgy in the past 2 months.

Just make your women look less like men and I will be sincerely rooting for you like the scrappy "special" underdog that you being owned by the wealthiest company in the world doesn't deserve the image of.

Yeah and at the same time she continues to distance herself from the previous talk of "premium", "most powerful". Maybe she is just trying to lessen the hype Sarah Bond was throwing out. Hard to say.

How is it news worthy? Xbox CEO vaguely says they're going to continue doing Xbox-related business. That's literally every thread.
Everytime the CEO of Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo makes a comment about their business we make a thread here. Are you new?

Listen to "high end graphics" gamers and 11 times out of 10 their genius suggestion is to have the platform holder subsidize their hobby with billions or trillions sunk into hardware subsidies and exclusive game development.

Remember some time ago when i said to you that, the moment a Excel forma shows that Helix wasnt worthwhile, it would be scrapped, damm the contracts ? WHy am i have a feeling that this is 'sort of' what MS is trying to do (not cancel, but trying to make that Excel forma $green$ again) ?

Something must be different as this whole radically different business model statement does not scream we are going back to making a console thats close to Playstation in specs and cost like we did for generations

"We couldn't beat SONY in the premium hardware space but we can FOR SURE beat Nintendo when it comes to producing hardware that isn't cutting edge!!!!!!!1111111" [Holding up her arms in a giant X nodding encouragingly to the crowd]

Oh...oh dear...

Half the reason I want Helix is because having a SFF PC in the living room space with guaranteed specs would be massive in that space.
And that's why it's such a bad idea for Microsoft to do it. Because the first thing everyone tells me they're gonna do with it is install Steam and play and buy games on Steam and never touch the Xbox app.

She's right, the mass market isn't touching a $1200-1500 console. I personally wish they would and realize it's like a phone, something you're gonna have for years, and they cost $1000-2000. But the mass market mindset just isn't there yet where spending that much for a "toy" is reasonable. So if you want to move consoles, it's gotta be affordable.

However. I don't know how they're going to change the specs enough to halve the price. The APU is already locked in and designed. They said dev kits were going out in early 2027 with launch presumably in Fall 2027. A one year delay to Fall 2028 might not even be enough time. It's such a difficult situation to navigate with landmines everywhere.

Well, there it is, what I just said in other thread: first goal is to produce an affordable MAIN console for the masses.

The concept of Helix was full retard from inception, a fanboy pipedream for the likes of Jez.

Phil absolutely fucked them with helix 😬

If there wasn't a cheaper box in development that shit could push the release to much later.

And how do you even manage 2 skus with ram demand from ai? Whilst also trying to grow your console userbase.

Better off killing helix and putting all the ram towards the cheaper box.
