The issue is that they give the games away on game pass, so, they need Sony to pay for the development of their games. If they let those games sell for a year before putting them on the service this might work.

Full exclusive for all games, except Age of Empires and Flight Simulator on PC
That+ magnus being proper console, x360 style, is only way xbox has fighting chance vs sony(not sure win, but at least some proper fighting chance).
On top it would be alpha move to buy out 4-5 japanese exclusives, if not full on then for 1-2years, again, x360 style, u gotta make sony sweat bullets right of the bat...

Thats a long way of saying you want xbox to make everything bar some live service games exclusive.

They won't do this because the hit to their bottom line would be enormous and likely kill COD.

3rd party full publisher, MS can't go back to full exclusivity now, after buying so many studios, also big games should not have been day 1 on gamepass, but they can't put the genie back in the bottle now after admitting they lost millions of subscribers by raising the price by 120 quid a year, there is no clear way forward really.

I don't really care about their games coming to other consoles since Microsoft being Microsoft treats physical releases like game key cards and you have to download the full game by connecting to the internet (even if you own it physically). Bethesda is the only Microsoft publisher that occasionally releases stuff I care about, like recently Indiana Jones and I am glad Bethesda eventually puts all their stuff on GOG.

I wished xbox would go in balls deep with their exclusives and force sony to do better.
The problem is the brand itself. People already abandoned xbox as a hardware.

Yes, the Magnus needs to reach X360 level heat inside, with a red ring on the front. The formula for success!

Will be a long time before you get Activision (CoD) exclusivity. Probably 2033 or 2034 earliest based on promises Microsoft made to get the acquisition approved.

U might be onto something right there, bro.
There is not a small chance that 20-30m units out of officially sold 84m x360s were bought as 2nd unit for ppl who experienced rrods on their first one, ineed xD

Now we can laugh about it but back in the days it was stuff of nightmares :messenger_astonished:

I myself bought two. One in 2010. It got RROD'd at the end of 2012 and I bought a 360 e in 2014. I only played Phantasy Star Universe in my 1st one. Many people bought way more than just two.

If they went fully exclusive, including Bethesda and Activision, and switched Game Pass to align more closely with PS+ Premium they'd sell consoles and compete. It might take a couple of years of initial financial losses for people to adjust to the fact that the games are exclusive, but they do have the games and franchises to pull it off.

They're not allowed make cod exclusive and even if they did it would just make rival shooters on ps5 more popular.

What they're doing is giving the impression HELIX will have decent exclusive content to maximise adoption and when sales inevitably crate after 2/3 years they'll start bringing them all over again.

this feels like the exact same type of conversation when Xbox bought Bethesda and Activision.

not sure why people think it will be any different this time.
Cause Xbox fans are both gluttons for punishment and easily influenced by executives that promise friendship. Especially when they are a 5 out of 10 female.

They need to be either all in or all out on exclusives. And I don't see how they can be all in considering their circumstances. What they are doing now is just to stop the audience bleed from Xbox consoles until they can launch Helix, get the PC client in better shape and set up their multiplatform pipelines.

If they are serious about Xbox and the revival of their hardware.. they have to make their games full console exclusive for at least 1 year (no pc , no gamepass, no ps5 ) the only thing valuable at consoles are exclusive games take that aside and you only have a locked low-mid hardware..

If they keep devaluing their hardware and games in favor of pc and gamepass, than welp.. is back to uncle Phil failed strategy

Halo, Gears, Fable and Forza should've been non-negotiable pillars which are always exclusive. The rest of the shit from the publishers they bought later on, like Bethesda and Activision, should remain multi-platform to maximize profit. COD is basically a money printer for them and it's releases like that which should be funding their loss leader exclusives, which are needed to attract people to the console and Game Pass sub.

MS tried that. It didn't work. MS tried Game Pass. It didn't work. Phil Spencer promised his boss that Xbox would reach 100-110 million Xbox/Game Pass/Cloud users in 2030 after buying both Bethesda and ABK. Then things got so bad that MS had to release games on both Steam and PS5.

So what makes you think MS is willing to try the exact same things that didn't work in the past and will only lose them LOTS of money. Why do you guys keep living in a fantasy land?

Huh, I don't know what Xbox are going to do. I'm not bothered either way. What I am finding is a lot of people in this thread don't seem capable of simply going with the flow of the thread topic. I started a thread because I was interested on what people thought specifically on this and what people thought would give Xbox a chance to turn things around. From the few who have actually contributed it seems Full exclusive is the answer and that hasn't been done since the 360 days.
