Xbox: "These [E-Day and Clockwork] are not timed exclusives. Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan"

So both Playstation and Xbox realized that consoles without exclusives don't work?

Xbox still has to realize this ... maybe in the future.

They have no idea what they're doing lmao

That must exactly be what every single dev working at The Coalition and People Can Fly will be thinking right now. They spent a lot of time on the PS5 port and all that work has been thrown away at a whim because Xbox management changed their minds again.

January 2019: Office 365 apps became officially available to download directly from the Mac App Store for the very first time.

Microsoft as a business doesnt care about exclusive besides xbox.
It's not exclusive though lmao. And that's okay. It's just weird to try and put a mental block at just console to feel better about what Microsoft is doing.

It's as simple as comparing Xbox's attitude now to that of recent years to see that something has changed.
What kinda change are you talking about here?
I am. Xbox has better IP than Playstation. It's time they sell it

Doom, Elder Scrolls, Gears, Forza, etc vs God of War and The Last Of Us. This is a no brainer.
With the exception of Elder Scrolls, you probably don't want to know how those franchises you listed sell in comparison to each other. Oh... you conveniently left out some games...

Anyway, don't turn this thread into that.
Ok. I am confused. Is senua and gears coming to ps5 ?

Thought at least gears is console exclusive. And of course PC
Gears and clockwork are console-exclusive; everything else isn't.

I'm not surprised that Senua was announced for PS5. I'm pretty sure there was a collective groan by all when they announced that. They need all the sales they can get just to break even. Even with the PS5, I think that is a big ask. I wish they'd just let the thing die

A console without exclusives has no future. The problem however is that Xbox itself has no future...

It says it's Xbox console exclusive. What underlying message are you seeing that no one else is?

It's bullshit marketing. If they were honest: "It's not a true exclusive. You just can't play it on PS5."

This will never not be funny to me. I know these shows cater to the lowest common denominator, but it's pathetic.

Don't expect much return of investment in Gears then, most of the folks I played with Gears have a PS5 now.. Out of 10 maybe 3 people have a PC.

Everyone was super excited about E-Day but now most of my friends can't buy it and those on PC will not buy it if it's only 2-3 people there to play.

My only point is that if Microsoft is trying to sell their own ecosystem, then putting games on steam is the exact same as putting them on PlayStation. Neither are a part of their ecosystem.
I get that.
My point is that it's wrong to claim that PC is not their ecosystem. PC can be
- their own
- Valve's
- Epic's
- GOG's
ecosystem. That would be the truth.

I don't really agree with that either but whatever floats your boat. If you have to pay someone else to sell there, then it's not your ecosystem.

The missed revenue is worth it.

Playstation pulled back from PC and no one said a thing. Xbox brings in a new team and CEO and pulls back from Playstation and you are surprised. They have to honor the commitments they made, but they can honestly do whatever they want with the studios they own.

We've officially entered the era of Samurai-slop.

There's been at least 4 or 5 games over the last week announced.

Well shit you believe even with being forced to create an online account and being unhackable so that its forever stuck with being forced to create an online account, the fact that all first party physical releases require a day 1 patch and don't contain the full game on disc, a 9th gen console with only having 50 GB space on physical discs (so they don't care about physical releases) and backwards compatibility requiring you to download the game even if you own the game physically is a video game console. That is a PC and it has DRM built into it.

I see.

I assume you also agree that as many games require content and mandatory patch downloads, and BC being relegated just to cloud, that would make the PS5 a PC that has DRM built into it too, right?

PS5 has Tokon, XBOX has Clockwork both sides have exactly ONE exclusive game I care about

This generation is so ass lol

Sorry... but 'MS and honor' on the same phrase simply sound wrong :-D

- First, annoucement is a promisse with pre order, so they dont need to 'honor' nothing
- Second, they annouced new games for PS5 too TODAY

In the end, what Sony did (as strange as it sound) was at least more organized... BUT im not surpised about holding E-Day (no, i dont think this will be a 'console exclusive' forever), since Reloaded was a fart in the wind on PS5...

I hope they cancel the Xbox Series S, and only release games on Xbox Series X. No PC. Nothing on PC.

And then, finally, the ultimate plan comes to fruition: Project Helix 360! Everything exclusive to that system.

Do it Asha, and you will recieve the mandate of heaven!
She will receive the mandate of Timdog.

Good plus pc. That's cool exclusives create better competition. Why people cry about this 😭
People are just calling out this strange situation:
"Exclusives are back!", except that they are ALL on PC as well
"Already announced multiplatform games will stay that way", cool but why did you announce NEW games with PS5 versions?
Oh, and it's only two games for whatever reason, the rest are also on PS5 (in addition to everything being on PC as well).

Ok.. understood.

Now I am confused again... aren't you just making his point for him? So we agree PC ecosystem doesn't belong to Microsoft? Like, there are whole other platforms within that PC space besides MS? Which would mean that it being on those platforms makes it... multiplatform?

But you have the option to use it without an online account, it will eventually get hacked, 1st party single player games can be played without day 1 patch and they upgraded the physical disc storage to 100 GB with PS5. Even the SegaNet had downloadable games and PS2 had FF XI. The point is there is a platform where games can be played without DRM like a traditional console if the devs intend it to be and its supported by Sony.

Xbox still has to realize this ... maybe in the future.

Xbox have a huge problem in that with such a huge roster of first-party studios their burn-rate has to be astronomical. They need to be making a lot of revenue every year to break even on investment, and objectively speaking with a relatively small install base on console... there's not much to be done but look beyond that market.

The worst part is that with Gampass they have a fixed price-point service that soaks up release volume, so they can't really "hot-shot" their customers by expecting them to buy more games in the same time-span.

Having a new leader in Asha buys the unit some grace-time, but for how long I wouldn't speculate. I

"It'll eventually get hacked", the funny part is Sony, the company you think 'supports' this, will die trying to make sure that never happens.

And just like Xbox, many third party games on PS5 require mandatory content downloads too, so outside of the 2 first party games they release per year, I guess for the rest of the content your PS5 is also a PC ?

Oh, remember that time they literally removed Concord from people's PSN libraries, even those who owned it legitimately? How's P.T work on the PS5 by the way?

Yeah .. 'my corporation is better than your corporation' isn't the win you think it is, sadly. 🙏

Good. Let MS try something different as Sony has gone all in on keeping their games exclusive. If it works then it was a good decision. At least they are trying unlike Phil who completely destroyed the brand and made it the shitshow it is today.

So glad i'm on PC and don't have to worry about buying 2-3 consoles to play games. And you got guys cheering this on, because it's what it was like in the 90s.

I agree..but I think they should change strategy no matter what was it .. at the moment we are back to the same "failed" one tried since xbox one gen.

Trying to do exclusives without being really exclusive, trying to sell games but with a day 1 streaming service.

I just think it will fail again. And only the fanboys will be really cheering as usual

Phil convinced ms to drop like 100b on xbox.

The free demo released in 2014 for a game that was cancelled? That P.T?

Yeah, that one that was free on PSN for everyone to download that can't be anymore, that one. Shouldn't it be playable on a 'platform where games can be played without DRM like a traditional console'.
