Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen



Amazing optimisation for Fatekeeper, I mean sure, it doesn't have lots of enemies on screen and such, but it can only be better from here. And the game is made by 13 people I hear.

Can't believe DF didn't make a small video on the game, but they had time for 1 hr long Switch 2 retrospective.

I think that Alex has some kind of injury so he's gonna be making PC videos a bit less frequent until he's fully back, I'm just spit balling here.

I think it looks AMAZING (and not only visually), Control was really well received so I'm not worried for the sequel.

Same, Control Resonant is up there as my most anticipated game of 2026

Same for Exodus (next year), both are not great lookers, but I want to play them like right fucking now.

saw the first ten minutes. ive seen enough. beautiful lighting. yes lumen is great but you need talented artists to make it look this good during gameplay. lots of fancy volumetric effects i hope they dont remove at launch. it looks like its running at 30 fps on pc so downgrade is inevitable.

good choice not going open world. smaller areas means artists can put in more time getting the lighting just right.
 
Guys i need a fast advice, if i want to disable the xmp profile of my ram in my msi mobo, do i only need to disable the xmp profile or i also have to set the dram frequency manualoy to what it was originally? Or i can just disable the profile and it does everything automatically?

Also, can i just save and exit or i have to press f10 to save like the guide says?

I'm literalky inside my bios now and terrified of doing damage, please help my sorry ass :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
did you get new ram? were they the same brand? did they come together in one package?

if not, go back to nvidia driver 596. recent one is causing crashes.

ram speeds dont make much of a difference. 4800vs6000 will make no difference. hardware unboxed did some tests a few years ago and it only slightly improved 1% lows and that was going from 3200 to 6000. search it up, but disabling xmp should be fine if its causing issues. run the memtest. its probably just the game or nvidia drivers.

alex has a severe back injury. poor guy cant even stand or sit. had to do the bond dev interview on a treadmill.

richard has done some pc work but hes running the business solo since splitting from eurogamer/ign so he probably isnt covering an early access game during e3 season.

reset your settings in the nvidia app. delete reshade. use DDU to reinstall drivers.

download 3d mark tool. cheapest version is like 5-7 bucks. run timespy or firestrike benchmarks then compare against other gpus similar to yours.
 
I rarely shit on art styles but the faces in Exodus :messenger_grimmacing_

I love everything else about it, and I'll 100% play it, but fucking hell, who decided to go with that direction for the faces. It's like the art style of the faces does not match the rest of the world building, it's not coherent. imo.
 
Man, the whole Vietnam resort mission in 007 looks amazing. Just stunning area after stunning area.

I didn't think it looked that good(pool scene aside). I was looking forward to that mission the most and was pretty disappointed in it graphically. Artistically it was beautiful, but not graphically impressive to me.

Damn, people being crazy critical. I am not even sure Naughty Dog will make the next Uncharted look that good in motion. I am highly skeptical Blood Message will look that polished, but it would be incredible if it did.

Most likely, debuting this at SGF, the studio is using it as a recruitment tool. A lot of things could evolve

Don't get me wrong, it still looks great, just not the be all end all it was being hailed as.

I still think people are sleeping on Naughty Dog. Yes, they've completely shit the bed so far this gen, but if Naughty Dog is good at one thing, it's pushing tech. Whether or not Intergallactic is a good game is to be determined, but I will be shocked if it's not one of the best looking games this gen.
 


this looks a lot more doable than what we saw yesterday. animation work is excellent. the rest is ok.

Really liking this one. I think motion blur from a lot of movement and youtube compression hurt presentation a lot.
But dynamic GI is really pulling some heavy weight, many scenes with great lighting. Like sequence at 13:57. If you play at 0.25 speed when soldier breaks through the window and whole room gets lit from bounced lighting.

Damn, Blood Message looks insanely uneven.

The only thing consistently good is the scripted mocap combat. But they forgot to mocap the slower jog or any facial expressions it seems. Stiff as fuck. The silent hill 2 jog looked much better and we all made fun of that! And hair physics are practically non existent.

The visuals are all over the place. Sometimes it's like the best looking thing we can imagine this gen and then other times, it looks like this:

Awful asset quality like this at times. Literally everything in this shot other than the red texture of the cushion looks 2 gens behind.

Missing wood texture. Awful cloth textures and animation, and where did the GI go?

They've certainly cherry picked the best parts for the trailers.

This is totally Ryse + Temu version of TLOU stealth (with some shameless ripping off on top of that) and an inexplicable mix of PS5 and PS3 graphics.

Blood message looks absolutely incredible… <snip> I guess it is currently king. Nothing comes that close.

There is a big downgrade in this gameplay unfortunately
 
Just watched bloober team star trek and it looks really good but I want to say something, UE5 is currently by far the best game engine on the industry but on last showcases and the remaining Xbox show more than 90% of games shown are using it, like no competition at all and that unhealthy for the industry, and that's why I support studios who upgrade their engines instead of taking easy direction and switch to UE5 without even try, capcom, ubisoft, rockstar, SMS and RGG Those are currently my top favorite Non UE5 studios , hopefully ND can retain it's position and join them, for blood message I will wait until I watch direct feed gameplay capture before judge it

Yeah it strikes me as more of a tech demo, and an uneven one at that.

I also noticed the wound and blood to the shoulder just disappears as it progresses.

Just some really odd choices for a cutting edge tech demo.

Engines are just tools. The real competition is in the art or rather visuals themselves. Devs are already limited by console specs and have to wait 7 to 8 years if not longer to upgrade their visuals. I see ue5 as a canvas for artist to visualize their true vision. What this E3 has shown is that talented Devs can utilize that canvas far better than other developers. And that's where the competition will stand out.

Right now, two of the best looking games on the market are built on re engine and and anvil. Ue5 has had a great showing, but the best of the best are games from other engines. Ue5 is simply allowing much smaller studios to put out games that can compete with the likes of Ubisoft, Capcom, rockstar, infinity Ward and other first psrty studios with big budgets.

Looks pretty but it looks like it's totally lost it's soul compared to the aesthetic of the first game.

Zero mood in those shots.

When I first saw them I wondered if I'd missed a 3rd person mode announcement for the Indiana Jones game in fact.

Certainly doesn't look like some dark, lovecraftian horror experience anymore.

There are some great areas in the demo later. The game is pretty great aswell

I know that ue5 ia great for SMALL AA developer's and time of development . my concern is big developer's start falling one by one on its circle, and by next gen time those numbers gonna increase, and if UE6 fully saturated the market next gen then you can imagine what will happen when you have no competition to show it's weakness, and by that time epic will neglect truly fix/care about it and will be just money grabbing tool.

Amazing optimization by the devs or more likely just using the latest version of UE5 that already has a lot of optimizations.

It is the ram i had since i built the pc last time, it is 4 years old now.

But i fixed the problem completely by lowering the speed, no crashes in 6 hours.

I read that ue5 is particularly sensible with ram overclock.
 
I truly dissapointed after watched that blood message gameplay, lighting, texture are taking big downgrade, also that shitty blur effect iteration, the good thing are charachter models quality , animation have same quality of previous trailers, But generally dissapointed
