Stellar Blade 2 | Summer Game Fest Trailer

Looks fantastic, can't wait to see more. Didn't expect to see a trailer this soon, tbh. Or that we'd be playing a new protag. Hopefully we'll see Eve and Lily too at some point.

Didn't realise this was an early reveal until this thread so could be 2-3-4-5 years away and for next gen which is a shame as it looked great.

I remember the original Stellar Blade was revealed like 4-5 years before release as well.
 
it looks so FREAKING GOOD!!! probably my most hyped announcement since I already have 70 hours and all 1st playthrough outfit for stellar blade 1

this game, virtua fighter, and ff7 part 3, this is why I love video game in the first place, you just gotta ignore the bad ones

Yeah, God Hand vibes with those heavy hitting melee combos, so thumbs up on that.

I'd like them to address the shortcomings of the first SB, but looks like they're still doing the generic grotesque monster blob enemy design. Didn't really care for that. All the human fights in SB were the standout.

Because it's just a demo slice right now, mocking up some of the core tenants of the setting/character/play style. The hard part of game development is the iceberg underneath the icecap that they can show you right now. (Early Project Eve/SB videos were similarly exciting in 2020 but the game took another 4 years to finish.)

Also, Shift Up is a bigger studio than just this gamewith assumed deep pockets thanks to success in the GAAS market; the group making Stellar Blade is just a chunk doing a single player game, while the rest works on the Goddess of Victory Nikke. (It's kind of an ideal combo, and what every major publisher was chasing in the GAAS bubble chase.)

...All that said, this trailer is more than the teaser I was expecting when I first caught the game name in the SOG show.

Very likely a target render and nothing real. It's early in development, so this isn't gameplay footage.
 
This looked so good. The soundtrack stood out. I think this soundtrack will be as good or better than Stellar Blade 1. That was my soundtrack of the year and that was a year with Rebirth and Uematsu is my gaming hero. That's how much I loved the Stellar Blade soundtrack and just from that trailer what I heard sounded amazing on top of the amazing combat and great setting.

For me what made SB 1 enjoyable is not just the beautiful Eve,
Raven
and Tachy but also its excellent combat, great graphics, atmosphere and interesting lore. Cant wait to play sb2 possibly on ps6 2028 or 2029.

Yeah I wasn't particularly the biggest fan of monster designs in original Stellar Blade.

Also. lets hope this game has better story and voice acting.

Maybe me just being contrarian here, but without the lesser fights with the random ghouls, the others wouldn't stand out so much. Like in DMC how a lot of the bosses are overshadowed by every Virgil encounter.

I like the body horror monsters though (so this might be a biased take), it gives them a unique flair as far as movesets, even if they weren't that memorable individually. Like the wheel guy and the umbrella girl.
 
This is the futuristic dystopia I wanted to see. Just absolutely shits on the aesthetic of most of the other games in the show.

The game does need work over the original in terms of level design and mechanics, but I want to believe.
 
A more than welcome surprise. And despite how good it looks, I'm optimistic about requirements in PC, because the first one was very reasonable in that regard.
 
yogaflame yogaflame Several Outlets state this is a sequel that takes place after the events of Stellar Blade in the far future so I'd say this is a new Angel model. We need to factor in this is probably following the "Making New Memories" ending unless Shift UP goes wild and follows the Return to the Colony ending instead.

A name like Evie to me makes me think that it's probably Eve's daughter or just a new Angel model.

It's also apparent that the CDDP group Evie is a part of uses different tech and weapons then 5th Airborne Squad.

Kind of proving the point, though. Young look, arguably child/schoolgirl look (literally, in kill Bill) and sexualized. It's an Asian thing.
 
Looks great. She kinda looks a mix of Eve and Lily. And if its a sequel then it will be in one of the space colonies for sure which one of the endings from Stellar Blade hinted at. Day 1.
 
I found the new protagonist prettier than the first one.

The game looks really good and the gameplay is very refined.

First game was UE4, and very conservative one that doesn't really push the engine beyond it's capability unlike something like Jedi Survivor. This game is UE5, but the game looks like a 2028 release at the earliest.

18yo isnt a child, bro, they can vote, drink, own a gun, drive a car, take loans, hell u get 18yo bimbos make OF accounts same day they turn 18.
If u really think they are children then u better opt for rising voting/drinking/driving etc age to 25yo or w/e u consider finally an adult :P
18yo men get drafted and send to war/die pitiful death, they always were, u considering them child soldiers too? :)

Maybe for 2 they can tell a story without beating the player over the head with hints at the incredibly obvious twist for the entire runtime…

yogaflame yogaflame Depends. The trailer shows there is still Naytiba presence. Which is what I believe what the vial is that Evie has and what that one bald dude injects himself with. Colony ending kills all Naytibas. And seemingly has Mother Sphere colonizing Earth with Android Humans. Completely replacing them.

Which curiously I haven't seen any mention of Mother Sphere at all.

I'm more keen to think that, following the "Making New Memories" ending, she's some kind of Eve 2.0 sent to kill the original and now rogue (from Mother Sphere's perspective) Eve, maybe in a slightly distant future .
