Mortal Kombat Kollection 4K announcement

Well..... that's cool I guess.

I mean, I'm not buyin it, as I don't feel it will fundamentally make a difference to how much I enjoy the film(s), but cool for those who somehow haven't seen it(them) I suppose.

why call it Kollection is it's only 2 movies?

with that name I expected it to also include the TV show, maybe even the cartoon.

obviously rights issues, but that would have been great. the tv show, cartoons, other stuff.

the back to the future colleciton included the cartoon as well which was neat, since i never watched those.

maybe it's a rights issue, but I doubt it would be all that hard for all the rights holders to come to an agreement for something like this, as the TV show especially seems to be just sitting there with no real plans to do anything with it.

and it wasn't amazing, but I actually really liked the TV show. even in home releases before they did never fully release the normal TV episodes, but instead repackaged them as movie length specials basically.
so a full release of the TV show in its entirety would have been really cool, and how better to do it than as a bonus to the 2 movies? because they probably can't release the TV show in proper 4k, because it's most likely filmed either on video or with digital cameras that neither can be rescanned at 4k.

The first MK movies, even after several decades, is still freacking awesome. And that theme is still kicking ass.

funnily Annihilation has the superior version of the theme song tho (and imo generally a banger soundtrack, like Scooter's song Fire during the fight against Smoke went hard!)

psa if you're thinking of getting the set and already have the Mortal Kombat Blu-ray
keep the Blu-ray as well the 4K does not have the VHS animated prologue. Mortal Kombat the Journey Begins

Mortal Kombat Annihilation was one of my first cinematic disappointments. I never want to watch it again, nor have it in my collection.

No contest. However...

When I saw the first film, I got stuck in the first row at the teatro. Even with this inconvenience, the experience was glorious. And: It still holds up on rewatch at home - Enter The Dragon with magic...which is kind of what the first game is, so they nailed this aspect. Add a little comedy for the masses, but still include the violence to the extent a PG-13 rating permits. Great adaptation, great show.

Annihilation is an abomination. Saw this one in a theater, as well. Had better seats. Oof. Might be a litmus test: If Christopher Lambert won't return for your sequel, it's probably a colossal piece of shit...before it starts filming.

I contend the first is a treasure and worth the up-charge (for the inclusion of a never-to-be-watched-again sequel), given the quality of Arrow remasters/releases.

Holy shit that brought back some memories. The nostalgia is real.....

.....and that's the only thing that can make this tolerable is nostalgia. If you never saw this growing up, you don't need to folks. Let this lie and rust as a relic of the past.

Where is Mortal Kombat Conquest?
I remember getting excited when this show was announced and a local tv network was planning to run it. The pilot episode felt like cheap drama, but most of all you could instantly notice that despite trying to introduce famous characters from the videogames (in addition to the original main cast) there was actually zero blood & violence. At least they managed to sneak in some sexy females.
