Yup... and that's what I find the most embarrassing about all this. People are so eager to die on their respective hills that they are sleeping on all the potential world-building elements of this reveal. Like, rather than focus on it being a cube, the more relevant question should be how did he end up that way... what is it? Who is it? Or the ribbon, what if the soul of someone is trapped in that ribbon?
Its crazy to me that the purple place are actually more open about taking this on its merit.

This is the problem with the clowns on this site. They think that their opinion matters more than that of the general actual game playing public. The funny thing is this game will have top tier production quality. The game looks promising especially the combat. If this game is fantastic watch alot of the haterz be lapping it up.

100%. I am really interested in how the cube and ribbon got that way. Plus, who's to say that it will be that way for the entire game? Maybe the cube will have the ability to transform into other things?

I agree with everything, particularly the bolded. Unfortunately any discussion is mired in drive by shitposting and anger over a character in a game that may turn out to be a banger, but everyone has made their minds up already. There are some interesting things being said about the potential of this game in relation to the events of all the previous games. A whole pantheon of gods from different mythologies and a timeline intertwining with the events of 2018 and Ragnarok. I know a lot of the discussion is just performative nonsense or just plain old platform wars but it's taking up too much bandwidth and it gets tiring. Sadly it's not only this thread but pretty much anything that gets announced nowadays that gets this kind of response.
Its so sad. Agendas man, why did gaming have to get attacked like this. Its literally meant to be an escape.

Because it's the OT not the announcement thread. There were plenty who called out the replacement back in the day, but that kind of warring in an OT would be considered trolling, much like it will be if people brung this level of discourse into GoW:L's OT.
Because the culture wars hadn't shifted to the point where people were encamped around or even felt comfortable calling out "wokeness" in games. The pendulum has certainly swung the ither way in that it's often the first lens through which many view games now, alas.
Finally, because Marcus Fenix isn't nearly as beloved as Kratos, but even if he had been, the series had already had a variety of protagonists from day one, even games where he isn't a main character. Kratos has always been the lead, and for most games, the sole lead of God of War.

Vote with your wallet and move on. Its worked everywhere else for the most part. They'll learn eventually that if you don't make something for your target audience, it'll fail or fail to meet expectations. Seen it so many times (shows, movies, games etc). Nobody asked for solo Faye game, lets be fucking honest.
Pretty much. Doesn't apply to all but a lot of them. Apparently 2019 was a lifetime ago for those specific games but they cite examples like Ellie from 2014, Aloy from 2017, or Selene from 2020 when talking about females in PS games. Downright disingenuous. It's poor excuses as always. Especially as they sometimes hype and play games like Avowed or South of midnight at the height of other backlash which they often try to quell. You can see some fighting back people calling out the ugly characters of Outer worlds 2 and then they turn around and complain with other specific platforms games.
I don't enjoy Gaymes.
I know but it just kills the franchise. Its wild how many amazing game series have just been shot in the back of the head at this point.
The part that makes it harder is when they pull you into believing in thier future. GOW 2018 and Halo 4 have both done this to me and then thier weak sequel comes at you out of nowhere once they got you to buy in again lol.

Going back to the game, I'm looking forward to it.
I love the premise of an afterlife of the gods. Hopefully we get reintroduce to some of the greek pantheon.
Maybe Athena will have a big part to play?
Gameplay wise it looks like a continuation of god of war 2018 and Ragnarok, with Faye looking more agile.
I hope the metroidvania level design stays also.
Oh and one last thing, I'm glad the main weapon is a sword and not an axe.
I know that's trivial but I do prefer swords in my character action games

I don't go out my way to play games that don't interest me so I can't say how much. I've played nearly every GoW game with exception to maybe a couple - Son's on Sparta etc.
I'm not even going to engage with the rest. Use your brain. You can be happy and excited for a game, but also have to recognize that people have different opinions and if you don't like that then oh well. Weird that people keep attacking others because they don't like a game or how it looks.

To be fair to most people, in between we had a time period where games were more interested in gender politics and lecturering than actually telling the story. It's just that the pendulum has swung from far left to far right. And sadly, both seem like mirrors of each other.
Faye might not be the best looking female character but she isn't ugly either. The game shows promise and potential and the tie up and future direction of the franchise as a whole is exciting to say the least. It's a shame that most of the posters are more interested in politics of the game rather than the game itself.

Unfortunately, he is right. This is the new normal. And threads like these are the living embodiment of it. We are 30 pages into a thread of a reveal of a new game. A reveal that showed gameplay, cutscenes, and the first glimpse into a new world and characters.
And pretty much the entire thread is about it being a woman, purple colors, how the woman looks, and this surprising new high horse about NPC design choices (mind you this is an audience that had no issue with a glowing ord with wings screaming hey listen), totally ignoring the fact that unlike most other companion npcs in games that just tag along with the character for comedic or informative diversion. And hardly a mention of it as an actual game.
The cube and ribbon in this game actually tie to gameplay and combat. I wonder what people would say if you could also jump on the cube to get to higher places in addition to bouncing enemies off it to extend combos.
I would say people see agendas everywhere these days, even when there are none, because that's where their head is at. And this game... is a clear example of something like that.

I would say absolutely nothing about any of that. Cause those are all legit, albeit subjective opinions.
But that's not what is happening here. But hating on something simply because its a woman as the lead... is not an opinion, its an agenda. One made even worse when they start saying things like a gory dark combat heavy game in a gory dark combat focused IP is not made for its audience simply because the lead character is a woman. You trying to say the only reason people play GOW is that they are controlling a man? Not for the gameplay, music, puzzles or lore?
So pls don't do the whole victim thing and act like anyone is attacking people for having a different opinion. I don't like this game, which I know very little about, and have only seen some combat gameplay because the lead character is a woman; is not an opinion. It's an agenda. That's like me hypothetically saying i don't recognize that the fastest person to finish the Ninja Warrior obstacle course is a Charlie... because Charlie happens to be a woman. Then when I am called out for it, and people say she went through the same obstacle course... I call it my opinion and claim I am being attacked.

This is a franchise that once had its protagonist literally rip a man's (God) head off with his bare hands and beat another character's face into a bloody pulp - all in GLORIOUS 720p...
Now, it's been sanded down into something far safer and more inoffensive, carefully designed not to upset anyone - heck, there's barely any blood in it anymore and most enemies "bleed" sparks...
What was once an M-rated franchise now feels closer to a PG-13 one at best.

It does look pretty good and the gameplay looks great. That's absolutely not what is the problem here.
They know how to do flashy graphics, solid gameplay and competent music/sound. But the rest, done by the creative people, is wokeism indoctrination. And this is not OK.

The sidekick should have been the ribbons and that's it.
