Sony's internal projections for Spider-Man 2 show they didn't expect the game to sell more than Spider-Man 2018.

Based on this fact alone, I doubt they expected Ghost of Yotei to sell more copies than Ghost of Tsushima.

Most Resident Evil titles released within the past 7 years still haven't sold more than their predecessor.

I believe they expected spider man 2 to sell less because in 2023 we were well into the "Marvel decline" and people were not as excited about the brand. Marvel were struggling. From 2019 onwards the backlash started against marvel. So, that is why I believe they projected less sales Vs the first game that launched in peak marvel fandom.

Sequels are supposed to sell more copies. A good sequel should grow the IP not shrink it. If sales decline on a sequel it means the first game didn't actually have as much appeal as hoped once the title got into customers hands and the sequel doesn't seem to be addressing those concerns.

In the first video you linked, which is 3 years old( before youtube did further changes to dislike algo), the guy himself mentions a 50% margin of error, around 8:55. That's a massive error margin

The second video is about checking the app accuracy, it is inherently biased in that mostly people who use the app are going to bother checking it. Doesn't help that the sample size is so low because the video isn't popular, less than 500 views.

None of the videos actually prove that the app is accurate.

It is further proven because I am using YouTube revanced( the source of my screen shots) and it uses "return youtube dislikes" api, and it is showing completely different like to dislike ratio than you, who is probably using the chrome extension in pc( I think).

Chinese developers have not shown much instances in implementing depth in their combat. Wukong was pretty thin. Phantom Blade could change that. The Japanese and Koreans produce games with great depth, like Team Ninja

I'd say Stellar blade was no different to Wukong. Maybe even thinner. You'd never get anybody complaining about those games for other reasons though.

You have clearly never played recent God of War games on the hardest difficulty. It presents great challenge. Combat is certainly not thin. In upcoming game, the stringing of combos will surely be insane. It was already good in demo, and that was just with basic movements of Faye

Yep, God of war on GMGOW mode is very challenging. Especially the Valkyries and Berserker gravestone fights. I've never raged so much as when I tried to beat Sigrún on that difficulty. had to take a break for a week and come back to it.

Eh that's not usually how it goes though. Just look at when Nintendo do 2 entries in a series on one platform. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Tears of the Kingdom, Splatoon 3, Mario Party Jamboree/Superstars, heck even Mario Wonder sold less than NSMB U Deluxe.

Other than Pokémon if they do a second entry on the same platform it usually sells less.

It could also have something to do with Spiderman on PS4 launching to an installbase of around 80m to SM2 launching on an installbase of 45m.

We already suspected the trilogy remake would be a hybrid between Norse gameplay and Greek gameplay, now it's looking even more likely. The ribbon is a long-range whip weapon which seems to function closer to the original blades of chaos than the ones in GoW 2018 / Ragnarok (which had a limited range due to the more grounded approach).

Just that in this case... the outrage doesn't really have anything to do with the game on its merit. But more to do that this is 1. not Kratos, and more importantly 2. a woman.

Here's the crazy thing, though... this game is still going to sell very well, and is going to end up being one of those things that shows how far removed GAF has become from the actual world... same way how reviewers are more times than not far removed from what actual gamers want.

At this point... this is somewhat funny to me, its like people going up in arms over every new hyphenated Star Trek addition. This game is expanding the world and franchise of GOW, and its a damn good stab at it. But the very people that complain about samey old stuff are here wanting more of the same... in your case your more of the same, just never even jumped over from the OG installments of this IP.
