now, so often, they just get in the way and are a substitute for gameplay

GoW's never had deep or difficult gameplay, was a goofy bubblegum sojourn to mythological greece, and the reboot's been trying to mature that a bit... but theyre slapping a weird shade of lipstick on this pig.

Franchises can tell stories from the POV of any character in said universe. Its called expanding the lore.

God of War lore was always the ancient Greek mythology.

They literally made a Norse game and the most recent DLC teases Egyptian enemies at the end of it.

Expanding it was always exploring others mythologies like North mythology in Ragnarok. Those mythologies are old, complex and super interesting. And they do interest me.

But here the lore is based on some school level fantasy novel written by Alanah Pierce.

They are expanding into Egyptian mythology.. which is older than both Greek AND Norse mythology btw.

They are also going to tie in the Greek and Norse era's into the game.. There will be multiple mythologies in the game. its going to be huge

Video game logic. He was aging like human before GOW1->GOW3 (despite being demigod and achieving god like powers at some point) but then he aged ~10 years (he doesn't even look 60 in GOW2018) in the span of 950 years.

In GOW2 he was just weeks younger than in GOW3, so it WAS technical limitation. GOWR model represents his GOW1 age.
