They didn't delete the comments from Yotei and Intergalactic so why delete them now? in fact, there wasn't many good/happy/nice comments on either of those games (and again, you don't know the actual dislikes, those apps to unhide it are not correct at all (I've seen someone check the dislike ratio on one of their videos and it was over 10 times higher than the actual number))

It's actually "Phranque".

Not that that helps much. Clearly no real basis in a known mythology. Just made up shit with no real respect for the source material.

Also I love how everyone latched onto The Egyptian pantheon reference here whilst either missing or having the other references go over their heads (Mongolian, Chinese etc)

Phranque

It just adds a bit of comedy also, the other God of War games did this through characters also (Mimir, Brok, Sindri)

Its their biggest franchise I would be surprised if they didn't delete any. And these counters aren't 100% yes but they are quite indicative of both counts when it comes to ratio. I mean its not that farfetched considering the mixed responses here, there and other platforms for social media. Anyway the point being they could've avoided this by not calling this a mainline GoW and making this its own thing but I digress.
 
It doesn't look particularly new. All the mechanics seems to be the same. Even the graphics don't look like a huge leap. It should have been its own thing maybe more devil may cry ish and leave Kratos in, but in Egypt. It will probably review well, I'll buy it most likely, but I'm not super excited about it. Sony this gen has been dead set on pissing off its core fan base or alienating it.
 
I'm not sure what that was, technically it looks (like all Sony games) great.
Just seems...... random.

Yeah, I just watched some more videos of the game on the Playstation Youtube channel and I saw that. I thought that maybe "Frank" was some kind of fun, comedic name that the player learns initially and that we'd learn his proper real name later on. But Phranque must be his genuine name.

They also said that he's a cosmic cube and on Kotaku they speculate that he's from another world where he is worshipped by the inhabitants of that world. It looks like this cube really is the actual character and that he won't secretly be a god trapped in a cube (or something else).

Maybe somebody in the team at Santa Monica Studios is a Wayne's World fan. There was this scene where this arcade franchise owner Vanderhof was describing a video game called "Zantar". In this fictious game you play a gelatinous cube that devours warriors in a medieval village....and "a sphincter says WHAT?"
 
Just catching up to the show now and man .. they really just showed 20 minutes of this, lol.

I don't think I want to see 20 minutes of a single game in any show, unless its a dedicated state of play or something.

Well if it connects the story between Ragnarok and whatever they do next then I guess it has to be a mainline story, spin offs can be played separate, this couldnt be. Sure, they could have done it as a spin off and not bothered joining the stories but my guess is the next game will be Kratos and Faye in another mythology (Egypt is probably most likely) so without joining them in this way context could be missed.

I don't mind though, if anything the combat in this is closer to the original games than 2018 and Ragnarok, its faster and more athletic, but unfortunately people would rather talk about other things other than how amazing it loks and what it plays like, which is fine, just a shame that part of it is being lost.
 
About what I expected, impressive on a technical and graphical level, but combat just seems ok with scripted "spectacle" moments, but with zero Kratos shown and the sheer levels of high fantasy they're pumping into what appears to be either Mesopotamian or Egyptian lore I found myself multiple times during the presentation saying, "They're still calling this God of War?".

Im loving the "welp I was not sold but after watching that awsome trailer Im in!! " comments ... the game looks axactly like I imagined a feminized modern GoW would look like with a sprinkle of marvel/disney bullshit, its exactly like ragnarok with a few gameplay tweaks and a new female Protagonist, it couldn't be more safe and stale... I wonder what the "pleasant surprised" are surprised about ? to see what ? the same exact type of game SSM has been doing since 2018 ? ...

Fans of Ragnarok will love this game, fanboys who eats sony current gen slop with a smile will love this game, nothing wrong, I just think the pretend surprises are funny as hell.

If this ends up being a $40 game, like Miles Morales and Lost Legacy, they will be able to quell some of the disdain. If they charge $70 and this is a mainline 'God of War' game, then they lost their way. I couldn't care less about playing as a female. I loved the 1st Horizon game, love the Tomb Raider games. I usually make female characters in games like Monster Hunter because the gear you get is generally cooler looking. The game looks boring, and the dialogue is what turned me off. Too much walking, too much R2, too much cringe talking. Like all games, I hope it is great, but like most Sony games this generation, I have skeptical hippo eyes.

Info has came out that it is in fact the new mainline GoW game ... its just not apparently Cory's new game. So 70 dollars is a given

Ragnarok was such a disappointment for a lot (including myself) that I could not care less for a continuation for that lore. Its done, we don't need to see more of Norse mythology or anyone attached to that. Personally I've invested a lot of time and my own cash on their franchise don't want a copy-pasta with a random god (not Kratos). Its just not the same. This looks like the embodiment of modern Sony and along the lines of quips and mindless random slop that only professional Redditors and Bluesky posters can laugh to (not at) and relate with/to. Actually getting Thor Ragnarok vibes from this and that, that's not good.

Either put the franchise on Ice while you get your best on it (Corey). Or make this a spinoff and not call it GoW. I'd rather wait for a proper God of War than some B team on Laufey, then wait even longer for the next proper one.

This is not what the majority of gamers wanted. They wanted God of War 1, 2, 3 or even a real sequel to 2018. They wanted toxic and bad-ass Kratos who killed almost all of greek gods.

The graphics and gameplay look awesome, but everything else is either woke or incredibly safe. artstyle, (ugly) characters, boring story, cheesy dialogs, handholded progression. Was there any music? Can't say I remember anything.

Ragnarok was a disappointment to me but that's more due to pacing especially with lots of the really large almost open world levels. I haven't seen any of that so far with Laufey so I cant make that judgement I can only go off what I have seen and that looks great. Story means less to me than the actual gameplay, always has even with story based games. Last of Us 2 for example, love that game but I don't love it for its story and I could say the same about the Uncharted games, Ghost of games, or outside of Sony Tomb Raider games for example (they have lost their way hopefully the new one is a return to form). Story is still important but nowhere near as important as gameplay (for me)

It does looks like the Ragnarok team or B-team worked on this. 2018 was almost perfect in every way to me, and Ragnarok had so many misses.

Are there 3 teams working on three GoW project at a time. Ragnarok, Laundry and Cory's Egypt ?

Looks fine. Visually amazing. But, it has every modern game design flaw that people on here despise on a regular basis. Too much talking, extremely linear design, floaty movement, out-of-place writing/humour, etc., etc.

Hopefully, these things are sparse in the actual game, and this is just a non-issue in the long run. But, the footage isn't exactly blowing my skirt up at this point.

Eastern developers are not fixated on purple like here and the vast majority of their characters are beautiful to look at or at least not repulsive in the case of non-human characters.

The purple colors everywhere, the ugly characters (some with horns because they love satanism). Have you ever seen one beautiful or even one decent looking character? That's the woke part.

The rest is boring and uninspired. But it is boring because the creators are woke. They have created a fantasy novel where they can put all the purple, powerful ugly women and ugly characters they could but by doing so the rest becomes uninspired somehow. It is woke when they decided this woman could be a God of War. I mean, shouldn't it be Goddess of War Laufey? Like I said, it's subtle, but put everything together and it reeks "woke"

Saw 5 people in PlayStation hoodies standing on the edge of the bridge, peering down into the abyss this morning on my way to get coffee this morning. I hope they didn't jump. Sony is playing fast and loose with these guys and I don't like it one bit.

This was my take after seeing the new gods. It's probably a transitional game to the next Kratos game. More of an Uncharted Lost Legacy/Miles Morales type game than a mainline entry. Kratos in egypt has been rumored forever at this point.
