I'm not gonna drag the forum down by complaining about a game I have 0 interest in. I hope you guys enjoy it but from someone who has figures and statues, been playing god of war since the PS2. Bought a psp for chains of Olympus and ghost of Sparta. PS3 for god of war 3 and ascension.

I just can't understand how someone could be a fan of those games and then think this looks good.

Awful Disney writing. Cute little character, a cube. It's all just playing on the Disney marvel crowd. No gameplay for ages. Cutscenes.

It's the perfect Sony slop for you to enjoy.

The game will likely be successful, but I'm sure many people are going to try to do everything in their power to "prove" it's a failure.

Me being pleasantly surprised by a showcase I had zero expectations for does not mean I'm hyped out of my mind for it. There are dozens of games I'm more hyped for like Onimusha and Phantom Blade. I hope it's good, but if reception is mixed I won't be getting it and I won't think anything of it.

But as others have said, just...don't call it God of War? But of course, everything has to be attached to a fucking franchise now.

The problem is that you think most people agree with you.

People claimed they'd boycott Ghost of Yotei over a developer's comment about Charlie Kirk. People refused to play the game because they replaced "jin."

It all amounted to nothing because the game is outpacing Ghost of Tsushima in the same time frame.

There's no emotional response or connection when I saw it unlike 2018 GoW. That felt so personal, so grounded and somehow so human. We die, we grief about the death of our loved ones, we take great care to raise our children, we laugh and we cherish our life and looking at even Gods do the same — it just felt so personal. One of the best writing in a game.

This sure is extremely visually striking, truly next generation but yeah, it's a game. That's it. I don't feel anything from this. This is a God doing God things. Cube and sword sure. Combat as usual doesn't disappoint.

I also am puzzled by the name? That doesn't really roll off the tongue and why call it GoW? Just name it something else ( but the how would you sell, "GoW" tag is very important I guess).

Definitely not going to (re)buy a PS5/PS5 Pro for this.

God of War has always been about Kratos. He's one of gaming's most iconic protagonists and one of the few remaining strong male leads we have left.


Yet modern studios seem incapable of leaving anything alone. Every established franchise has to be changed, reworked, or "updated" to satisfy whatever trend is popular at the time.


Instead of creating new characters and new franchises, they keep pushing existing protagonists into the background and expecting fans to cheer for it.


God of War is Kratos. It always has been. Sony had something that millions of fans loved, and like so many studios in this industry, they couldn't help themselves from messing with it.

Out of principle I wont be touching this trash.

What excites me about this game is the tech and combat potential. The cube is fucking awful, but outside of that, this feels like a simple spin-off to me of a franchise I'm no longer invested in that had an entertaining showcase.

I think a very big reason why they went with her over Kratos is pretty simple. Last game didn't do as well and they're afraid of doing yet another game with him back to back to back. There's not really much more to explore with Kratos' combat or mechanical potential. So what's something contrasting to his brute force? Someone like this character.

Growing up, my gaming tastes was probably close to 50/50 split between Japanese and American/European games personally, but now it's quite literally like a 90/10 split with the 90 being Asian and the 10 being Western (and even then, that 10 percent are indies/AA games, not AAA), so we probably have similar tastes currently.

I'll never touch this game with a mile long pole personally, but I just can't be excited for yet another Sony game even when it comes to gameplay, wokeness or not. Horizon is a perfect example of the sequel somehow fucking up the combat to being inferior to the original which is something. If I wanted to play a sword game with flashiness, Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry are already out and Onimusha and Tides of Annihilation looks miles better than this game gameplay wise if we're looking at upcoming titles. The main reason most people like Sony games is because of the "prestige" of the stories and God of War 2018 was a great example of a genuinely well written story (and I will die on the hill that the franchise should have ended there), but now it's like they're just dragging the corpse along for a circus act at this point, kinda like Halo.

Personally, I really don't care if it's a dude or a chick as long as the game is fun for me. I really disliked last of us 2 for story and narrative decisions not cause of female protagonists

I'm just not super interested in side stories that much. This is like gears of war judgement prequel type of thing. It might be good but I'm going to wait for impressions from fans of the franchise cause you just know reviewers are gonna give it praise

I hope the next god of war game returns a bit to the original style of the first 3 games/ascension/psp games. I just wanna see Kratos story continue its gonna be like 10 years before we get the next mainline game at this rate

This is the thing that has baffled me for the last decade. Historically, the ONLY goal of a company was to make money. And make more of it today than yesterday. But in recent years, Western media companies are altering their products to appeal to a progressive demographic which…doesn't make sense fiscally. Time and time again, it has shown to not only NOT attract new customers, but actively alienate the ones they already had.

But it keeps happening! And I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Video games, movies, comic books (reading Marvel comics like 10 years ago it was 50% pink haired minority trans pansexual non-binary first time comic writers that (literally) didn't read comics in their lives hired to write and head books while actively hating their own readers and every single one of them failed), etc.

Men are interested in video games more than women. Not because they have historically been pandered to by developers. It's other way around. We've been pandered to BECAUSE we are interested in video games.

And that goes for other hobbies and purveyors that get that wrong are so fucking stupid.

She's pretty, but her outfit is so "slums" or Burning Man - while covering so much skin at the same time. It's just weird to see the female body being censored and female sensuality toned down, while the male characters are out here flexing their abs and shoulders.

The game looks really clean, though. Animations and combat look awesome. I just don't dig the art direction; it's very fairy-like. Way too tame.

I don't get the double standard either. You have pop icons like Katseye and Dua Lipa being all sexy and sensual on stage, and everyone loves it. Men and women. But a video game with a female protagonist? Don't you dare expect something more mature and sexy, or you're instantly labeled an incel.

I really hate how extreme the internet has become. I feel like this place has become rather fragile and insufferable at times, and Reddit is the exact same thing, just the other side of the spectrum.
