Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

We have kings of baked lighting here (most of the bakes in the game were excellent). I remember that people claimed Capcom made non RT version of Grace ugly looking on purpose:

I'm looking at some RE9 screens from the past, THIS IS THE MOST NEXT GEN LOOKING GAME THIS YEAR:
Yeah Uncharted 4 can look really rough ingame holy yikes...

Lighting is so important in a videogame man

I honestly think the rasterization here is just a time constraint to focus more on ray tracing or other aspects of a game. There's been much better rasterized indirect lighting for characters in many last gen games.

Uh?

Are screenshots alone enough to say what game it is? What game is this?
Former Forza Horizon creative director. Built his own team. 3 years in dev. Using ue5. Voted best place to work in uk 3 years straight.

Reveal is in a few hours. British studio so 12pm Britain standard time makes sense.

But the base ps5, and xsx versions were designed around rasterized lighting. They don't feature any ray tracing. Path tracing implementation started just a year before launch. If anything their standard ray tracing was an afterthought because their denoiser is garbage and doesn't look nearly as good as other rtgi games.

I cant believe that this person defending ps1 fire got 18.000 likes for this tweet.

The gaming community can be so embarrassing man

What a fucking retard. A ps2 era fire was optimization 🤡

Not a dev sleeping on his job or bad QA, nooo, they shaved 0.00001% performance for that fire over even picking a PS4 equivalent, nothing fancy.

That Bond gif was captured on PS2?

Uncharted 4 "beach house" looks incredible when you are far away from assets, but try looking up close:

No to mention there is ZERO interactivity in that level, everything is baked and bolted to the ground.

Yep.

PT or full RT suite would make this game looks current gen (+some assets upgrades):

Naughty Dog was making some useless remakes and remasters while they could be making this for PS5 Pro (or fucking Bluepoint could do it, they had nothing better to do anyway).
Bond has the same problem tho, the famous luxury hallway with npcs gif that people posted multiple times in here doens't look that hot when you start zooming on the geometry\textures...

small Gifs give that cg feel but live on a big screen you notice all the shortcomings.

Uncharted 4 is one of the best examples of baked lighting, and yet you will still see many limitations. Remember than even the best baked lighting will do jack shit to dynamic objects (like... characters), that's why rtgi will always be superior (or even better - rtgi + baked lighting combo for linear games).

I was wondering if the systematic outsourcing to India in current vg development can explain at least part of the graphical problems we see in games today compared to before.

It appear Uncharted 4 was at the time mostly outsourced in Asia, but First light doesn't seem to have any outsourcing going on and with their proprietary engine it seems logical most of the work was made in house.

Damn i wish could have pin this one on Indian people but obviously the truth is still out there...

What engine is this? It looks really good.

I wonder too what kind of gameplay structure this game will have
By the sounds of it, the game will have a wide variety of mission based. Sounds like Need For Speed meets Forza. Heists, illegal street racing ect.. It has a narrative storyline

I always found it silly that there wasn't more interactivity within the world in Forza. This will be my jam

Full reveal I don't know why they don't share direct feed youtube version from this reveal only unsaved livestream

This looks really good! Hooking around lamp posts for cornering reminds me of jet moto. If nothing else, at least the trailer for this game will shine at Summer games fest

If the gameplay matches those cutscenes this definitely will be the best looking racing game this gen 4k video here

they just took a big shit in PD's mouth. hell, this looks next gen compared to both forza games this gen. an indie studio shitting on studios funded by a $3 trillion company, and the industry leader in console sales. embarrassing.

you have played the game. the fire effects dont look like that everywhere. the first lab scene started off with the bike exhaust on fire and it looked glorious. this is just a one off effect that devs didnt bother putting too much time and effort into. its not indicative of the full game which has received a lot of time and love. its just something to laugh at and move on.

something like gt7, forza horizon 6, ds2, tlou1, ghosts 2 deserve online mocking because they targeted native 4k resolutions instead of better visuals. their flaws are due to laziness and lack of ambition. 007s flaws are just devs hitting console bottlenecks and some odd texture here and there.

rockstar has its own studio in india and i can promise you every asset will look pristine in gta6. this is just a random thing that no one bothered to fix. the game is massive. took 6 years as it is.

Oh, so its a track racer? I thought it was open world like FH? Also, lets wait until we see PS5 version/proper gameplay before we start throwing around those types of things

What a great start of a day with clutch reveal trailer, hopefully sony won't dissapointed us, I am so hyped for tonight s o.p more than any other sony show this generation🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Seems to have a bit of everything. Open world, track events, street racing, story etc.

It's like Driveclub, Forza Horizon, and NFS had a baby.

I'm actually legit shocked by the reactions in the announcement thread. So much negativity that I don't even want to post there. :pie_eyeroll:

Whatever the hell they have done to their "custom UE5" is working wonders. Assuming they didn't prerender all of that offline, game looks like it could set a new bar for racing visuals.

i noped out of that thread when i saw people post pics of the black lead saying hype deflated. not getting banned on the day of sonys conference lol

maybe next week.

Its guaranteed to be an F like all their previous ones. I wont even be tuning in and i already know what to expect

Yeah, graphically it will look really good (It's UE5, duh) but fully expect some stuttering typical for this engine as well. We already had some UE5 racers and they didn't avoid this, not to mention lumen artifacts.
