Fable delayed to Feb 2027 due to busy Holyday Season (GTA VI)

They'll delay it and skip the PS5 version. Xbox is fucking coming back, baby!

Western dev timelines are way beyond ridiculous at this stage.

They cost twice as much and take twice as long as any other part of the world.

I've been saying this for a while. They've got to delay either Gears E-Day or Fable to early next year. It makes no sense to drop two huge games (and MW4) in such a small window with GTA6 looming. This is a smart decision and anyone whining about it is silly.

Dec to Feb isn't the biggest delay, GTA VI will take up those two months neatly. 🤷‍♂️
After such a long wait and these delays for just games in general....I have a hard time believing it'll actually drop in February. Hope it does because it's getting tiresome. At least let them show way more during the show.

I'm super curious about this game. Probably a smart move but you do have to wonder if it was even going to be ready.

More time isn't the worst thing either way all things considered.

Hopefully the PC version has some good mods come out.

"so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves"

Just say you're scared of GTA bro
You wouldn't if it was ur game ? You will be crushed and applying for bankruptcy.

No need to risk a high budget game for the holidays where they can use the time to optimize the game more and avoid being killed

Not sent to die.

Now the new bad news is that it has to contend in February, since quarter 1 has essentially been Japan's holiday block for the past few years. It will be up against Capcom, Sega, and Namco releases. Maybe even a surprise Tecmo Koei game too.

Damn I must have missed the official delay announcement, share the link bro? 🤭

''This is year is packed with incredible games for XBOX players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI. In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we're moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves. We're excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at XBOX Games Showcase on June 7.''

Here's your announcement. 🤭🤭🤭
Jeff Grubb right again.

Where is the accountability for Mrs. Sharma for this decision?

No pitch forks? Shocker!

Unless...Ah yes...of course this was Phil Spencer's last act as Talking Head.
This is her first major game decision. Why should we bring out pitchforks? If the game comes out next year and is good, it'll be a good decision. We'll just have to wait and see.

Good move wish more companies did the same thing and not release big games next to each other. It still saddens me that ea left titanfall to die releasing it right next to bf and cod.

Feels like we've seen this game at like 5 different yearly showcases now and when we finally saw gameplay it still looks early and rough.

If it was Lionhead with Peter Molyneux behind the wheel then I would have been super excited.

But this game doesn't look appealing in any way.
Butchered franchise.

The timeline gets more ridiculous the more you dig in.

Playground Games' Creative Director Ralph Fulton was publically speaking about securing premises for their second studio, which would work on 'Project 2', an open-world game, in early February 2017;

By November 2017 they had secured their second studio's premises in Leamington Spa and had made significant staffing recruitments:

It's safe to say that 'Project 2' would have been signed off by Microsoft in late 2016, but pitches would have taken place before this.

I know it's no light undertaking to open a brand new studio and to release a game from scratch, however I feel like 11 years from conception to release is exceeding the boundaries of what's acceptable.

Not to mention, Playground has the advantage of an established 'first team' with knowledge and expertise to tap in to.

I'm just glad that the game hasn't been cancelled like PD and Everwild and this isn't just a slight on MS, as all Western developers are a mess at the moment.

Smart decision. The one we'd all make when faced with GTA VI... But it was also up against Gears of War, Halo, COD, and other first-party titles, several multiplatform games that look fantastic, and Wolverine on PS5 close one to others.

After so many years of development, so much effort and hope... putting it there would be like sending it to the trenches. With the success of FH 6 they have earned special treatment.

Half of their development time is spent on ideology and how to least offend ppl who will never buy/play their game.

Also, extremely poor studio management (which leads to all hosts of problems, including the one I just mentioned)

Playground is a Western developer?
Does that mean that R* is a Western developer as well?

I always called those chaps EU devs, with Western devs being US based. I wouldn't think the EU crew would like being lumped in with the "W" folks.
